Doublechecked with only the Polynian species mod. Yeah, the ship is still on the Biological section
I took the liberty to check what may cause this behavior, and from the looks of it, it seems that the ai_01 graphical culture, which you used for the shipset, does not have a ship_kinds entry. This may have caused it to get confused.

Yeah, although I'm kinda wondering if it causes some issues cuz my ship selection menu ALWAYS freezes when I open it

Also when I say 'Biological' I mean it's part of the meat ships for Biogenesis mod. The ships you use are obviously made of metal and not biomass XD

The first species portrait is so strange that even after all this time I still can't accept it.Upon closer examination, I realized that my uncomfortable feeling came from the incongruity of the portraits.The flat pattern of the head and the curves of the body are so incongruous that it is like hanging a 2d painting on top of a 3d model body to represent the head.Of all the portraits, this was the only one that struck me as distinctly incongruous and uncomfortable.Is it possible to correct this portrait pattern?

Hey mate, just so you know: you can let the new portraits have vanilla classes without putting them in the vanilla archetypes now. There is no more need to have a species_classes.txt file if you don't want to make something different from the vanilla ones! Check out how Tasty Maid: Portraits did it, I discovered this by looking at their files and it was mind blowing.

the machine version of the species cannot be used as it does not "has the game_started flag". i also just noticed the other version is a lithoid though i'm pretty sure that was intentional and i have just missed it this whole time.

It's not a version conflict, I tested it for the lastest Stellaris version and it work.

actually i just checked and apparently the version the mod is for is 3.7 i think and im on the latest which is 3.10.4

You are correct. I have determined the mod that is causing the issues. It's just odd considering there is a workaround for the crash with that mod, but the addition of this one removes it. Thanks for your quick reply nonetheless.
