Updated to 1.13.

@Czaritsa: This mod should ideally be as low as possible in the list, but typically the order for this one shouldn't matter except if playing with overhauls or mods that tweak combat. It is not a game rule, so it should work out of the box.
Czaritsa 19 Mar, 2024 @ 5:51pm
@Neutrino oh thank you! You're the GOAT! I couldn't get it to work on my last 1.12 playthrough. Since the 1.12.2.1 patch broke that game, I'll restart and test. Where should No Shattered Retreat be in load order? Is it already in your game rules as a setting? I'm wondering what I did wrong.
Neutrino  [author] 16 Mar, 2024 @ 12:02pm
@Czaritsa: Done, though the only change required was updating the version. Typically mods like these work even if the launcher says otherwise.
Czaritsa 16 Mar, 2024 @ 11:06am
Please please update! This mod is so good!

Could you add a toggle to turn off army lock as well?
Steven 13 Dec, 2022 @ 4:51pm
yah its been working all long its nice to not see an version error thought you can always go into the version number on file and put like 3.*.* version errors do not appear.
Neutrino  [author] 12 Feb, 2022 @ 8:22am
It should still work even if it says it's outdated.

That said, I updated it just now.
Khanz1 11 Feb, 2022 @ 5:58pm
Awesome!!!! Have both
Neutrino  [author] 11 Feb, 2022 @ 5:55pm
@Khanz1: Yes, I'll update it soon. However, I'll be incorporating this mod into More Game Rules afterwards..
Khanz1 11 Feb, 2022 @ 5:52pm
Will you be updating for 1.5?
Celador 3 Dec, 2021 @ 2:17am
Not working for me either, not sure if it's a mod conflict but I did put it at the end of the list :/
Coach 23 Oct, 2021 @ 8:20pm
Not working for me. Not sure if conflict is caused. I tried on the 1066 william vs Harold battle and William just retreats over several tiles, so mod not working.
Tim Habei 17 Oct, 2021 @ 7:20am
Still works!

Thx for the update

retreating becomes impossible or what is the sense of this mod? Sounds boring and shallow.
๖ۜPetero48 17 Mar, 2021 @ 2:13pm
If you have time, can you update it, please?
Norwegian Forest 12 Dec, 2020 @ 9:20pm

Can you update this for the latest game-version plz?

ust add if army is shartted pretty much it was never going be a professional fighting force agin during that war, thats why rear guard with retreat would happen along before your army became shattered. also wining army even if losing army did make it out they lose all there supplies / equpiment and majority of there trained forces Along with gold that was carried with army to pay wages during campaigns that would taken years to recover from. rear guard retreat also a lot of times during history has been used to ambush by faking retreat, main army falls back rearguard goes up to hold of wining side defeated side send horses around both flanks then main army rush back into fight through center after rally. but there was no real retreat like in this game.
Steven 24 Nov, 2020 @ 11:39am
in those days retreated, the winning amy would send there horse units out to take out as many of the forces that they could most of time major lose in conflict meant end of the war for that army., it was not easy task for a amy to reatreat or fall back majority of time it required rearguard action which where just lost as main army retreated these were soldiers that kept in rear not even in fight usally 25% of the army kept in rear guard.. even then profession armys would keep horses units in back to try to flank a rear guard action and wipe out the troops running away. it was no easy task and that is if you are a really professional army lead by a good general. game should handle who retreating works based on skill of army and commander leadership value. this mod probly best one represent retreating armys

@TheLoneWanderer I don't know if something changed recently with the mod, at first it seemed too easy for me, just like you said yourself, but just yesterday I had one of my armies completely destroyed because the AI was using this feature to ambush my armies. I got trapped in an area and after defeating an enemy army I had to face another one and another one until I had no armies left. Also noticed the AI doing to other AI in wars I was not taking part of.
Jayshua_Lyn 4 Oct, 2020 @ 5:58pm
@Neutrino

You only need the 1 line you changed in your modded Defines file... Make it smaller and merge with other mods if needed! :)
Wolves in the Throne Room 25 Sep, 2020 @ 2:59pm
@TheLoneWanderer There are tons of people who play CK to win easily and crush the whole map with everything going their way, you don't sound like that kind of person.

People like you and I need to try to think of shattered retreat just a visual representation of every man fleeing for himself and the victorious army is too tired and spread out to pursue, while the remnants of the defeated army come back together later at a predetermined rally point. Hopefully one day there is a feature or mod that simulates how defeated armies escaped and recombined.
TheLoneWanderer 14 Sep, 2020 @ 8:55am
I really liked this mod, and it works exactly as intended. However, after playing with it on for awhile now, it seems to me that it means a single battle that is won by the player is the end of the war. Just pursue the enemy army and eliminate them step by step. There is no fighting another day, the army is destroyed, knights and nobles are killed or captured, and then you can just siege at your leisure. I don't see the AI pursuing like this and it gives the player a huge advantage; and I already think the game is too easy. (I played alot on XBox game pass, so my hours played on Steam do nor reflect how much I have played the game)
PARA BRAHMAM 7 Sep, 2020 @ 8:52pm
Hello, I am new to modding. Where do you get those Nretreat commands?
Armchair Civilian 6 Sep, 2020 @ 2:10pm
Thank you I was missing the fact that in ck2 there was an option to disable it! Don't know why it is not present in the ck3 game rules.
Blinky ✖ 🍓Slowpoke🍓 5 Sep, 2020 @ 2:19am
The worst is when they retreat into *your own* lands so you actually need to chase them. Bonus if it was a deathstack and you're losing 100/month to attrition
BadMotherGamer 4 Sep, 2020 @ 9:33am
Thank you for making this.
Sol 4 Sep, 2020 @ 4:24am
I never figured out until right now, why it seems like a defeated army runs around the map invincible while being chased by my speed demon army.
Dr Nilsson 🖖 4 Sep, 2020 @ 3:53am
Thank you for this. I was so tited of chasing after retreating armies :P
