I used torps very similar to yours when I first started using special weapons in SE. They are very cheap and very effective for price.
These days I do more guided missiles, working with Alysius. Will be uploading a guided torpedo frigate in a day or two; fires 3d printed anti cap ship torps up to 100km - with script guidance for fire-and-forget action. One shot kill for most cap ships. But the material cost for both firing ship and torpedo itself is much greater than the system your using. Your way has its advantages. And no scripts required, always nice.

Try adding a sensor to turn off the mass block when it detects a grid. That way mass block turns off right after torpedo fires, thus preventing gravity shields from deflecting.
