Precursor Selection

@donamo
If Known Precursor works and this doesn't, then you most likely have other mods that overwrite the introduction events.

@Klingenmeister
It sounds like you have a mod that overwrites the vanilla precursor's introduction events, but not the DLC ones.

@Ashtero
The Shaded Empire specifically has been blocked by request from the author. The V'inarii I cannot remember the reason for its missing inclusion, though I suspect it was coding issues.
Ashtero hace 10 horas
Can you please add support for the Shaded Empire and V'inarii from Forgotten Empires?
donamo hace 12 horas
I went and tested the old "known precursor" mod and that worked so it's definitely something here.

@kroun: thanks for the dope mod. I like all my precursors I can use their digsites. Thanks!
Klingenmeister hace 12 horas
I did some more tests and I always get grunur on the first scan, zroni on the first habitable planet without primitives and one random precursor, the rest doesnt fire
Klingenmeister hace 13 horas
It worked for me last time I played 1-2 weeks ago
donamo hace 13 horas
Hey, the selection screen allows me to select all but then no anomolies or events for precursors pop up. I use GPM and some archaeology and event mods
Klingenmeister hace 13 horas
I no longer get all precursors if I pick all precursors. Last test round I got zroni and grunur and this test round I got grunur, zroni and irrasians

@Riwebo
I have added an edict that will fire the correct selection event upon enabling it.
The edict will only show up if the mod was not present at the start of the game.

This means anyone enabling this mod in the middle of a game will be able to open up the precursor selection menu, but there won't be an eternal settings edict to clog up your edicts tab.
Riwebo 24 MAY a las 3:44
Thanks for your answer! When I type “event PreSelect.1” into the console, an error message unfortunately only appears
kroun  [autor] 23 MAY a las 14:53
@Riwebo
You'll have to manually fire the selection menu with commands, but otherwise there should be no problem with activating it mid-game.
Riwebo 23 MAY a las 14:45
Can the mod be activated and triggered during the game? I got a nice start, great planets nearby, but after 20-30 years no anomaly for the precursors (only selected league of firsts)
kroun  [autor] 23 MAY a las 14:19
@MeniliteZ
For digsites that applies to all digsites, which is why it can sometimes be beneficial to keep borders open if you have a lot of unclaimed systems that you have cut off with claimed systems. That way the ai can enter and survey for a chance of extra digsites.
MeniliteZ 23 MAY a las 14:15
Oh? So you can find Dig sites in already-surveyed systems?
Does that apply to any dig sites or just the Precursor ones?
kroun  [autor] 23 MAY a las 13:58
@Sebaty5
I was going to add that as an option for the "Precursor Nonselection" mode, but More Origins and 4.0 got in the way.

@MeniliteZ
You can still get the intro events even if other players or AI have already surveyed a system, though if you get the Cybrex or any of the other anomaly-based precursors you'd have to rely on random events and artifact actions to get the size required precursor artifacts to spawn the home system.
MeniliteZ 23 MAY a las 13:13
That wouldn't work.
You can't find anomalies in systems other players/AIs have already surveyed.
The precursors on the other side of the galaxy wouldn't be obtainable.
Sebaty5 23 MAY a las 12:44
Could we get a version that only allows getting multiple precursors but not affecting the precursor spawning area? So the precursors still are placed throughout the galaxy but you could uncover them all?
MeniliteZ 21 MAY a las 15:20
Zroni won't always be the first habitable planet you scan, I think.
Especially if you've just gotten one of the other precursor starts, because there is a short delay between start spawns (see last line of first paragraph in the description here).
SmoothPepsiColah 21 MAY a las 15:07
how do i get precursors to work will L-cluster plus? its a mod tat lets you start outside the galaxy in the l-cluster, but no precursors spawn even after scanning all planets in the cluster. It will spawn if i doing a regular empire in the main galaxy though. Also how do i get Zroni to work, even when i spawn in the main galaxy, i'll select it, scan the nearest habitable planet near me, and i dont get the digsite, dont know if its me or a mod conflict.
xkuripuri 20 MAY a las 16:44
If I remember right, as a result this one will also help ensure they all spawn inside your borders. And not say, your neighbor's borders...
kroun  [autor] 20 MAY a las 16:04
It seems there is some confusion regarding the way vanilla work and how this mod works.

The way vanilla works is that it will assign each precursor to a certain (random) area of the galaxy. These areas can overlap.
When you, in vanilla, disable a precursor, it will prevent the spawning of that precursor's area, without affecting the other precursor areas.
You can still only get one precursor.

What this mod does is spawn each precursor area that you choose around your capital, as well as change how the game evaluates whether or not surveying a planet will start a precursor chain so that you can get any number of precursors, so long as the precursor is among the ones you chose in the mod's selection menu.
xkuripuri 20 MAY a las 15:54
Think people just misunderstand: vanilla now can spawn all the Precursors, but they still only 'exist' in certain chunks of the galaxy. This mod makes them spawn when valid locations are found instead, ensuring you can find them all.
In theory, for vanilla you'd have to be the only empire and explore the whole galaxy to find all your Precursors.

@月羽狐
No it isn't. Read the comments just below yours,
Imperator of Rome 19 MAY a las 17:32
@月羽狐
Wait, what?
月羽狐 19 MAY a las 17:30
This function is now in base game
/O
MeniliteZ 18 MAY a las 10:56
They can't by default.
Why would you want them to?
Norym 13 MAY a las 20:42
how to get ai access to precursors too?
Kainser 9 MAY a las 9:01
The way it works in the base game is that it still only spawns precursors in a small area of the map, even if you only pick one precursor. So this mod is still 'better' if you want one specific precursor since you can actually get it reliably.
Preoximerianas 7 MAY a las 17:23
I like the idea of spawning in and having access to as many precursors as I want. The base game doesn’t let you do that.
MeniliteZ 7 MAY a las 8:57
And you can still only get 1 per game in base game without this.
Trim Lipply 7 MAY a las 8:43
No turning off those other precursors turns them off for all.
Davi 7 MAY a las 6:56
Isn't this pretty much in base game now?
NinepointRider_Official 5 MAY a las 20:04
Version 3.14 available?
MeniliteZ 5 MAY a las 9:04
Oops I see it just was updated.
Thank you!
MeniliteZ 5 MAY a las 9:03
Will this need an update for 4.0?
Steakhael Madson 27 ABR a las 15:48
My best guess is that it's expanded events then. I think it occasionally an anomaly on precursor worlds and that might do it somehow.

Thanks for helping me try to narrow down the cause, at the very least.
kroun  [autor] 27 ABR a las 7:31
@Steakhael Madson
Precursor Selection does not touch anything beyond the introduction event. If the precursor home systems are changed then that is another mod that is the cause of it.
Steakhael Madson 27 ABR a las 6:39
I couldn't tell you precisely if this mod is specifically the reason why, but precursors with colonizable worlds don't seem to have the option. First League's is just a barren world and the Cybrex ringworld's colonize option is just grayed out.

Don't know if it's your wheelhouse, but its the only mod in my list that seems to effect precursors directly so it's my best guess.
kroun  [autor] 23 ABR a las 9:13
You should be able to click on the "member of stellaris modding den" and it should take you to my channel (metal's more mods) in the stellaris modding discord server. My name on discord is metallichydra.
SmokeAnDrink 23 ABR a las 8:58
@kroun Sure thing! Just tell me the channel or username and I’ll send it to you in whatever format you want. You can trust me lol... I’ve already translated a bunch of Stellaris mods before
kroun  [autor] 23 ABR a las 5:32
@SmokeAnDrink
Could you send it in a txt file over discord?

@Quindite
Not achievement compatible. No mods that allow you to select precursors are.
Quindite 27 MAR a las 4:23
hows the achievement compatibility?
kroun  [autor] 18 MAR a las 5:09
@Февраль
Translations are not done by me.

Some translations (Simple Chinese, French and Korean) are in the mod itself, but are made by other people who send the translation files to me to add to the mod.

Other translations (Russian and Japanese) are separate mods that needs to be installed and enabled alongside this mod. There should be a link to them in the workshop description.

I do not make sure the translations are up to date, nor if they are accurate. I only link to them or add the translation files to the mod.
Февраль 18 MAR a las 3:51
The mod does not work correctly in Russian. Instead of options, technical information is written in the menu. At the same time, everything works well in the English version. I also looked at the French version, only the last 2 added precursors were displayed incorrectly. I think this problem exists in other languages as well.
kroun  [autor] 9 MAR a las 18:19
@Adam
Thanks for making me aware of this issue! And no worries. When finding a bug, assume it has been in the mod since release and no one mentioned it during all that time despite crashing the game.
At least that is my general experience of how bug reporting works for mods.

Will see if I can fix this tomorrow.
Adam 9 MAR a las 18:05
Not really a super massive bug but the mod allows you to get precursors before finishing the on the shoulders of giants origin story line my apologies if this has been found before.
Amazing mod btw saves me a lot of time not having to create a bunch of empires just to get the precursor I want
localrockman 8 MAR a las 0:28
We, the Disciples of the Shroud, appreciate your contribution for keeping me from cycling through games just to find the Zroni.
MeniliteZ 27 ENE a las 14:46
Thank you! It is appreciated!!
kroun  [autor] 27 ENE a las 11:40
@MeniliteZ
I plan to keep this mod up to date for 4.0 and beyond. The new system, as far as I can tell, only lets you disable precursors you do not like.
