Description
NOTE: 2.8 I think should be compatible as no changes to platforms were made. However I will refrain from bumping the version number until I verify

Updates Starbase Defenses Extended 2 to be compatible with 2.6/2.7

Backwards compatible with 2.6; no changes in defense platforms were made from 2.6 -> 2.7, so it should work fine in 2.6. Ignore the warning.

You still need the original patch, but make sure this overwrites it.

That means this patch should be lower in the official launcher, above it in the unofficial Paradox Mod Manager or old (2.3 or below) official launcher.

If you were having trouble with Starbase Defenses Extended 2 crashing the game in ship designer on the new stations in 2.2 onwards, this should fix it.

Note: If cost reductions modifiers are not working for Defense Stations or Fortresses, make sure the "Universal Modifier Patch" patch is active.

This fixes:
1. Section templates: Adds "should_draw_components" and updates costs to use the new resources field
2. Reactor components: Updates costs to use the new resources field
3. Ruler traits: Updates the leader_trait field to use a block instead of a boolean
4. Modifier localisation: Updated tech upgrade modifiers to use the new "mod_" prefix the game expects
5. Piracy Suppression: Adds piracy suppression to medium and large platforms (4 for medium, 8 for large, maintaining the vanilla ratio of 1 piracy suppression per slot size (since small platforms take 2 slots))
6. Updated section templates to use component_slot_templates
7. Instead of trying to override the "Right of Conquest" tradition (which no longer exists), this mod now overwrites the "The Great Game" tradition to reduce costs of the new platforms
8. Updates "The Great Game" supremacy tradition, the "Deep Space Defenses" line of technologies, and the "Secure the Border" agenda to reduce costs for all defense platform types

This does not currently fix:
1. Name lists. For empires with names specifically for platforms, they will not have auto generated names for their templates. This can be fixed by subscribing to the name-lists addon (which is a separate addon because it overwrites vanilla's name list files)
2. The Fortifier leader trait will not give cost reduction to the added platform types. This is likely not feasible to fix, as trying override existing traits will just create a new duplicate trait instead of overwriting the old one.

Will need to check defense platform changes (if any)

is this mod working for 3.0 ?

@Athena Not sure, but NSC introduces new platform types itself IIRC, so using Starbase Defenses Extended with NSC would be redundant
Athena 6 Jul, 2020 @ 1:12am
Is this still incompatible with NSC?

If anyone still needs a 2.2/2.3 version of this mod, I still have those files, and can upload that as a new mod

I don't think so, but I haven't tested it yet (and won't until some of my other I am subscribed to have updated, so next week or so)

However from my brief glances at the files, nothing changed in the defense platform definitions, and thus nothing needed to change in the original or here.

Does this need a 2.3 update? Or will the original even work for that matter?

@SteelCrow Good catch. Fixed.

Yo, I found a goof in section_templates/100_starbase_defenses_extended.txt Line 322:
should_draw_yes = components
needs to change to:
should_draw_components = yes

The Light section showed the foldy box, and crashed when clicked on. Everything seems to work as intended now.
