They use the yari animations in combat. Even in vanilla FoTS many units have bonus vs cav so I think they originally intended for bayonets but just ended up giving everyone katana
This shouldn't overwrite unit mods unless they modify the current existing units.

Funny thing is that even before bayonets the higher the tier of unit the more bonus vs cavalry they already had despite using katanas.
