This version of the mod does not remove the trails from the ships. So something else you are using is affecting trails.
Ships in Scaling Hard and Ships in Scaling Lite have been merged into one mod (Based on Ships in Scaling Hard in the Steam Workshop).

I recommend starting with the the following mods:

Real Space - System Scale
Real Space - Ships in Scaling hard
Fleet Formation Mod 3+ for Real Space Ships in Scaling Hard
