I'm using B41 maybe I have a load order problem
Kahj  [author] 6 Jun @ 4:49am
@Diya This mod is for b41 and the modded tiles used arent updated yet. For the same map with no custom tiles for b42 click the link at the top of the page :)

Getting Red question marks on things like showers with all other mods installed
Kahj  [author] 6 Jun @ 3:55am
>Makes mod.
>Main harddrive dies and loses OS and all contents.
>Computer is severly outdated and can barely run any mapping programs or games without lagging.
>Has major life events happen that changes interests.
>Gets notified of map made for fun during the pandemic being reoploaded by someone else without permission.
>Said mod gets removed.
>Spends all night and day for 2 days managing to find backup files and remaking old map to new version so people can enjoy a official update.
>Testing that sends computer into a spiral and uploads new mod.
>Still gets hate :D
Donal 5 Jun @ 8:45pm
>Makes mod
>disappears for almost 3 years
>yeets unofficial update
>gets btfo by users who just wanted to play on the map in the new version of the game

That is certainly one way to handle this. Like others have said, a solution could have been handled without borking everyone's saves, but you do you boo

Good luck in your endeavors. :cozycastondeath:

b42 upload is up! This one will remain as it is for now. However the new upload is the same map, just with a couple of fixes, a new building and no custom tiles. https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3493916941
Kahj  [author] 5 Jun @ 1:52pm
update: Pretty much finished with a b42 version of this map without custom tiles. Just working out some issues with the zombiespawn map.

@Samurai I could kiss you
Samurai 5 Jun @ 10:12am
For those who have had their save corrupted, try the following:
Create a new game using the same rules and mods as the corrupted game (minus the Ashenwood map), log in and log out.
Go to the folder of that new save and copy the following files (they are all in the main save folder, not in a subfolder):
"map_ver.bin"
"mods.txt"
Paste these files into the folder of your old save.
It worked for me!
Blizzard kronic 5 Jun @ 8:32am
I'm with Tams on this one, it just seems like petty drama.
Pabbiqo 4 Jun @ 11:14pm
@Abe that mod didnt changed - you subscribed to a stolen Copy which got deleted from Steam. the B42 Version you played was not from Kahj - but Kahj brings out soon his own version for out. (without any new features), so you dont have to wait longer for a b42 version.
Abe 4 Jun @ 10:42pm
Lost my current run after this mod changed and the game loaded up with all of my mods missing.
氚氣中的氪金龍麟 4 Jun @ 8:18pm
guys, I have found a quick solution. Open a new save, copy and paste mapw_ter.bin into the old archive (note: provided you have not been to Ashenwood)
Anyway, I still hope the author can update this town quickly. It's a beautifully crafted town:vanilla2::vanilla2::vanilla2:
TheAnt 4 Jun @ 8:01pm
so its been all day and we still dont have the cords or a B42 version of the mod? come on man
GerardotheCrusader 4 Jun @ 7:44pm
Matias just make a new save and overwrite the map_ver.bin to your older save
timidr 4 Jun @ 6:47pm
Looking forward to playing the b42 version.
Tams 4 Jun @ 5:28pm
Was a cool map. Unfortunately the bricking of saves due to a dispute over copying the mod, without offering a diplomatic solution so as to not fuck over players has forced me to vote this down. I get it, it was 'stolen', but bricking tons of players saves ain't the way to go about it. It ruins any good will gained, and just gives the impression of pettiness. Would have been better to have worked with the other person or done something in a way to not hurt a ton of players runs. Not cool.
matiasby69 4 Jun @ 4:56pm
my main save is missing this map now so sad
Dyslexic Dead 4 Jun @ 4:04pm
again with a different map wtf
Devvo 4 Jun @ 2:25pm
I respect your wishes for the takedown of the B42 version of this but at first I was so confused cuz this is the second map that went missing for me in the span of a few days I thought my mods were glitching lmaoo
La tulipe 4 Jun @ 12:55pm
I understand, thank you very much and good luck above all! Thanks again for the work you have given
Kahj  [author] 4 Jun @ 12:38pm
@la Tulipe
The map wont be ready tonight no. its very late here and im almost done with removing the tiles, then i have to go through and fix a few other bugs and then port the thing to b42 and upload. Im hoping to get this done either tomorrow or the day after.
La tulipe 4 Jun @ 12:05pm
Hello, my backup won't start anymore? Will this be fixed tonight? I was looking forward to playing after work. (thanks for your work the map is insane)
☠Dragnoros, der Wächter 4 Jun @ 11:58am
@Hazard. my comment wasn't a answer of your's xD. We just wrote at the same moment. My opinion was, that he should prepared a solution before he take out the map.
Hazard 4 Jun @ 11:52am
@☠Dragnoros, der Wächter Any law is made by man. Any law can be a mistake in a certain situation. In such moments, you need to figure it out, not act rashly.
☠Dragnoros, der Wächter 4 Jun @ 11:47am
All understandable. Anyone who does this without permission must expect consequences...even if we, the users, are the ones who suffer.

But you should have just considered preparing an immediate solution to stop this wave of frustration and anger. We're now in a situation that could easily have been prevented. And not everyone wants to spend an hour just to get the map back in order.
Hazard 4 Jun @ 11:46am
You did badly. You could have released your mod and then demanded to remove his mod. But you broke the saves of thousands of players. I give you a dislike on principle and will not upload your mod because of your policy against players.
Kahj  [author] 4 Jun @ 10:27am
Im not gonna provide screenshots of me currently sitting in TileZed replacing every single tile that isnt vanilla in every single building on my map. So unfortunatley youre just gonna have to trust a stranger on the internet.
Bootdisk 4 Jun @ 10:27am
@Kahj thanks - I will wait instead
Bootdisk 4 Jun @ 10:26am
@Alice in the Motherland - it seems you are suggesting we copy all the save game elements EXCEPT the OLD map into the NEW SAVE - is this correct?
Loccatpowersdog 4 Jun @ 10:24am
No update since 2022 but they are working on it trust, in the meantime their message is "get over it, I'm not discussing this".

Thanks for you work though I would have never experienced if not for the B42 version as I've never played another Zomboid & I hope it's not a troll that an update is real soon (TM)...
Kahj  [author] 4 Jun @ 10:24am
Small update: Currently working on a map fix for b42, removing all tiles that are not vanilla(and not updated to b42). This should hopefully make the map playable in b42, although not as "messy" and packed with trash. Please have some patience tho, doing something about this takes time and not an instant fix.
Bootdisk 4 Jun @ 10:17am
FFS
Steve101 4 Jun @ 10:14am
The proposed fix doesn't work when your base and your resources are in the affected area. Settling a disagreement this way is harmful to everyone. I understand both sides of the argument and both sides are both correct and incorrect on this.
Alice in the Motherland 4 Jun @ 9:54am
So far I did this and my game ran normally again, no crash upon visitting the taken down mod area.
@Kahj: please pin the comment below instead so people fix the problem, it's much easier than deleting files in map folder.
Alice in the Motherland 4 Jun @ 9:53am
- Go to your project zomboid save location, usually it's C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid\Saves, depend on your settings, it should be in sandbox or other folders. Find the save you're playing, copy it and paste somewhere else (old save).
- Start a new run, with all your mods except the taken down mod (you should not be able to find the mod anw), just get then quit the game. Your save folder now should have a new save (new save). You must not visit the area of the taken down map.
- Go to the copied folder, copy everything in C:\Users\ADMIN\Zomboid\Saves\Sandbox\old save\map then past to the C:\Users\ADMIN\Zomboid\Saves\Sandbox\new save\map.
- The map on the new save should be copied the old one.
- You can go further and copy other folders like zpop, chunkdata, isoregion to copy the loot/zombies,... as well. If you wanna keep your old character, also copy the "players" file (data base file) and paste onto the new save folder.
Steve101 4 Jun @ 9:37am
And another save file trashed because of mod developer in fighting. So instead of maybe working together, you guys decide to take out your anger on the players? This is a fairly small community to begin with. Lets maybe find a solution that doesn't harm the player base. You "could have" left it up as a temporary solution with full credit to you (as deserved) until a new version was released in B42. Now, players are just left out in the cold with broken save files, frustration and anger. This isn't helpful to anyone and ends up making everyone look bad.
Metal Mario 4 Jun @ 9:37am
Fully credited work is not stolen @Pabbiqo
His mistake was not asking for permission.
Petrovick 4 Jun @ 9:33am
The Sunday Drivers community thanks you for this map! Awesome stuff. Can't wait for your b42 version.
NOIA 4 Jun @ 9:24am
My saves man :steamsad:
ZUR0XX 4 Jun @ 9:08am
why would u disable a map on b42 to invalidate all saves. wtf man
Pabbiqo 4 Jun @ 8:49am
No idea what's wrong with some people. Do you even think for a second? Kahj created this world with great effort and hundreds of hours of work so you can have fun like he did. It's your own fault; why download a copy from someone who stole his work? You messed up by not sticking with the original. A map doesn't get made overnight, that's why Kahj needs time to finish it for b42.

He wants to give you a version worthy of b42: updated, more features. How is it his fault if you're impatient and play stolen copies? That only shows you like his map. So support him so he can release an amazing version for b42. Defending copycats ruins the mood for real creators. Keep doing that and soon the good mappers will quit; and you'll be left with nothing.

Kahj is a beloved member of the Unofficial Mapping Community. He has my full support. I prefer a mapper with original ideas. And I'm sure HIS b42 version will be fantastic. THANK YOU to Kahj and all who support him.
Metal Mario 4 Jun @ 8:47am
@GreedyTexan that is indeed the solution. It's not that hard to do.

Guys please don't harass Kahj, it's not like the mod is dead, just have some patience.
xylewood 4 Jun @ 8:46am
@GreedyTexan it works now!!! the only bug i noticed is that my save now set in default start month (july) but everything else work fine tysm
~BootySnatcher~ 4 Jun @ 8:23am
Bro i had a knock off rick grimes on my save XD T_T

https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/rnye2u/save_broke_because_map_is_missing/
Heres the thread i found on fixing this kind of issue. Im not sure what happens to the now missing cells on the map, but my suggestion is trying to avoid loading them at all. If you're already there, post what happens and warn everyone else. The saves aren't dead yet. We still have bites to earn
GreedyTexan 4 Jun @ 8:01am
I think i figured it out after bashing my head into the wall a few hundred times! To load up your save again simply go to your save file and find your map_ver.bin and your map_t.bin files. Delete those files, start a new save, then grab the exact same ones from that file and copy them over. Once you've done that, go into your mods.txt file and delete ashenwood from your list. I think thats all you need to do, but if not, ping me and ill provide a few more tips on what may work.
Alucard 4 Jun @ 8:01am
