That is certainly one way to handle this. Like others have said, a solution could have been handled without borking everyone's saves, but you do you boo
Good luck in your endeavors.
Create a new game using the same rules and mods as the corrupted game (minus the Ashenwood map), log in and log out.
Go to the folder of that new save and copy the following files (they are all in the main save folder, not in a subfolder):
"map_ver.bin"
"mods.txt"
Paste these files into the folder of your old save.
It worked for me!
Anyway, I still hope the author can update this town quickly. It's a beautifully crafted town
The map wont be ready tonight no. its very late here and im almost done with removing the tiles, then i have to go through and fix a few other bugs and then port the thing to b42 and upload. Im hoping to get this done either tomorrow or the day after.
But you should have just considered preparing an immediate solution to stop this wave of frustration and anger. We're now in a situation that could easily have been prevented. And not everyone wants to spend an hour just to get the map back in order.
Thanks for you work though I would have never experienced if not for the B42 version as I've never played another Zomboid & I hope it's not a troll that an update is real soon (TM)...
@Kahj: please pin the comment below instead so people fix the problem, it's much easier than deleting files in map folder.
- Start a new run, with all your mods except the taken down mod (you should not be able to find the mod anw), just get then quit the game. Your save folder now should have a new save (new save). You must not visit the area of the taken down map.
- Go to the copied folder, copy everything in C:\Users\ADMIN\Zomboid\Saves\Sandbox\old save\map then past to the C:\Users\ADMIN\Zomboid\Saves\Sandbox\new save\map.
- The map on the new save should be copied the old one.
- You can go further and copy other folders like zpop, chunkdata, isoregion to copy the loot/zombies,... as well. If you wanna keep your old character, also copy the "players" file (data base file) and paste onto the new save folder.
His mistake was not asking for permission.
He wants to give you a version worthy of b42: updated, more features. How is it his fault if you're impatient and play stolen copies? That only shows you like his map. So support him so he can release an amazing version for b42. Defending copycats ruins the mood for real creators. Keep doing that and soon the good mappers will quit; and you'll be left with nothing.
Kahj is a beloved member of the Unofficial Mapping Community. He has my full support. I prefer a mapper with original ideas. And I'm sure HIS b42 version will be fantastic. THANK YOU to Kahj and all who support him.
Guys please don't harass Kahj, it's not like the mod is dead, just have some patience.
Heres the thread i found on fixing this kind of issue. Im not sure what happens to the now missing cells on the map, but my suggestion is trying to avoid loading them at all. If you're already there, post what happens and warn everyone else. The saves aren't dead yet. We still have bites to earn
