I am also running this with LWOTC, and I am under impression that it is indeed helping with performance issues. However, I noticed a weird bug: sometimes the perk 'Restoration' fails to work on a bleeding-out soldier, and I am pretty sure this only occurred after I subscribed to this mod, and that it happens when I load a saved mission. It looks like the game removes the soldier (the solder also doesn't show up anymore on the custom icons for the squad at the top of the screen). Is anyone else with this problem?

when you have over 1k of mods this comes in handy... thanks

Interesting. Does that mean my results were completely placebo then? Installing this doesn't do anything if you already have LWOTC? I ask because I now have a game-breaking crash - trying to do the Chosen Avenger defense, and the game crashes every time I try to start the mission. My latest save from on the Avenger before the mission pops up is 10.8MB, which the game also cannot load. I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the save size. I can load my saves from the last mission before this point, those saves are 7MB, but otherwise I am stuck.

which is kind of funny as LWotC has this built-in//integrated ....

Playing LWOTC with 70-80 mods. Was getting huge slow downs and crashing as my playthrough went on. Installed this, instantly fixed things. I was surprised by how much faster the game suddenly was, the slow down over time had crept up on me.

I'll give it a shot, but I had the LWOTC cleaner disabled and this unsubscribed, and something was still erasing them
Maybe they had already been erased and displaying in the barracks/with the print command was a fluke? Who knows
Thanks for the advice
RustyDios 23 Nov, 2023 @ 4:22pm
My guess is LWotC messing with things is your issue. You should look in the LWotC configs for the [ShouldCleanupObsoleteUnits] setting and turn it to false. Which will allow THIS version to take over .. and I'm 99%certain this version does not erase MOCX units as I've seen it in use with the MOCX barracks (using the UFOPedia & Bestiary & MOCX Plugin to directly view the MOCX crew)
Acedian 23 Nov, 2023 @ 3:20pm
Both versions still do. Oddly enough, it's still doing it even when I've turned the whole thing off in the config. So I don't know if it's something else or what
Some people say Mod Jam messes with the cleaner, but I can't find anything referencing it anywhere in the configs
RustyDios 21 Nov, 2023 @ 8:19pm
it shouldn't do. There was an exclusion put in specifically for MOCX units.. especially as both of these were made by the same author ...

The LWotC built-in version of this had an issue where it would remove MOCX units, but I'm 99% certain that has also been patched/fixed from LWotC 1.1 onwards ..
Acedian 21 Nov, 2023 @ 7:24pm
This erases MOCX units.

@diringed
That's right.

Just to clarify: all you need to do is subscribe to the mod, leave it activated in AML and that's it? That's what I did for the last couple of hours, but it didn't have any (visible) effect. So I was wondering if maybe I was missing something? Thanks.

Yep, this mod completely fixed my late game slowdown + stuttering.

I think it takes the load of the game engine the most since I'm running 12700k + RTX 3090 all overclocked.

@rebel, what free camera rotation mod do you use?
Rebel Uccidere 16 May, 2022 @ 5:13pm
This had drastically decreased the crashing on my game somehow and I'm thankful for it. But oddly, and I still don't know why, sometimes my game attempts to flash bang me and lock up. Basically the screen goes white and I have to reload a save.
Moriable Princess 15 May, 2022 @ 11:30am
Oh my God, thank you. Anything to help with the late game slowdown.
Paddon 12 May, 2022 @ 12:29pm
Is there a way to target more than just units? I've got an issue where missions are straight up freezing when I launch them and when exploring the logs it talks about the toughness of the chosen sarcophagus when I completed that fight days ago, so I think there's a lot of assets being called for no reason
Snip3s 6 May, 2022 @ 5:22am
@Oceansoul I have another mod that could fix the lost thing and allow you to actually use them for supplies its called sell lost corpses. However, @RealityMachina I dont know that this mod you have made will stop that specific mod from working.

This is a beautiful, beautiful thing. It has drastically reduced the loading times on a couple of my old saves. No longer need I fuck off, read a book, and forget I was going to play while waiting for the game to start due to 8000 dead lost (Grim Horizons + Lost World + modded bad guys + increased pod sizes = huge piles of corpses every single mission), instead the save loads in less time than it took to write this post.

It does.

@Dragon32
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I don't think my specs are the issue as I run the game at max settings and a steady 60 so long as I make sure to relaunch on mission start. It seems more like a caching problem with the game itself, like things are being kept in memory for longer than they need to be; playing consecutive missions makes the game chug progressively worse as though it's loading in more and more levels at once. Whatever the case, it's a minor inconvenience because it only takes a minute or two to reload; I was just curious to see if this mod addresses or explains the issue. I'll check out your links - thanks!

@Narkah
Per Firaxis:
""Hitting the key, through a rube-goldberg-esque series of events, forces all outstanding load requests to be filled immediately in a single frame."
I'm not aware if this still works in WOTC, though.

Narkah 23 Mar, 2022 @ 3:37am
@Capt. Latrios: The caps lock button is pretty well documented, it essentially makes the game load everything in parallel, where as normally it loads things in sequence, so it drastically cuts down load times as long as your system can handle it.
Capt. Latrios 22 Mar, 2022 @ 9:40pm
One bit of advice regarding load times like just in general, load times are just inordinately long for more or less no reason, but you're able to skip them somewhat by hitting caps lock during them. It's worked for me so far, at least. Why does this work? I have no fucking idea...
Dragon32 22 Mar, 2022 @ 12:33pm
@I hate myself and want to die.
When I ran this on a pretty late game save it removed a similar number of gamestates to what's in the Description. Like marshmallow justice, though, I didn't notice any improvement in load times between strategy and tactical. It could well have shaved seconds off those load times but it just takes such a while I don't notice.

So, whilst I don't experience what you do I don't expect this mod will help significantly. If your PC is that far way from the minimum specs you need to restart so often I doubt any mod could.

I'd say cut down on cosmetic mods and voice packs and look at PCWinTech's CleanMem [www.pcwintech.com]. This Highlander issue could be informative:

I hate myself and want to die. 21 Mar, 2022 @ 5:01pm
Dumb question but I basically have to quit to desktop and restart the game at the start of every single mission or else my performance tanks; are you saying this mod achieves something similar in-game?
minecraft with gadget 20 Mar, 2022 @ 5:47pm
@marshmallow justice
Looking through the ini it looks like it clears out character templates on tactical maps, so I'm guessing the game really does cache everything in tactical maps even after the mission's over. I imagine it'll have a bigger difference if you're using larger squads and pods.
marshmallow justice 19 Mar, 2022 @ 10:30pm
"This *shouldn't* be targeting anything actually important but for obvious reasons be prepared for the possibility that this deletes something a mod needs later." MonkaS

Well, I added it to a March 2036 campaign / second year of a heavily modded LWOTC Mod-Jam and didn't notice anything specifically broken/missing (yet), nor anything improved performance or lag wise. But can't hurt to keep it installed!

Unsure what 'units' are being removed and what specific areas to watch for improvements in though.
minecraft with gadget 19 Mar, 2022 @ 7:27pm
So by default the game keeps units and dropped items in every mission cached?
Dragon32 19 Mar, 2022 @ 6:56pm
Master Skywalker. There are too many of them. What are we going to do?
