A good mix is the usp replacement, metrocop grunt replacement, and this, so the metrocops can replace the grunts instead of these being for the grunts.

Hey would you guys ever consider replacing the Suppressor NPC with the combine Elite? I think the combine elite would go perfectly as the big heavy gunner, Well that is if you guys are still making mods for half life alyx that is

Kinda wish that we could get extra models like this working as a separate NPC. I haven't got the first clue when it comes to Source 2 modding.

@Kat This model is a captain replacement and additionally uses a slightly different skeleton when compared to the original grunt. This might lead to issues if you're replacing a model other than the captain.

So I tried taking this and replacing it with the grunts, and they work, animations and all, but when I kill them the game crashes, haven't tried it with the captain yet, will get back to you. I'm just wondering why it's doing this

well now we need an ar2 remodel for the pulse smg and a combine soilder reskin for the combine grunts (don't know what could be done with the wallhammer ( the guy with the heavy shotgun) and the suppresor ( the guy with the big machine gun)

TesteTickler: it's not out of the realm of possibility but it'd take a LOT of work since atm we don't have a decompiled suppressor and the anims would have to be reworked

Leojrenrek please note that this man is working on remaking the entire project shooter, then I would like to mention that this model is nowhere low-res neither are the textures, you didn't answer the question Joseph asked you i.e "do you dislike the hl:a metrocop model? it was made during the same time period by the same artist with the same exact fidelity" answer it if you can. The thing is my guy that this is isn't just a port knowing joseph personally and having worked with him before, I think it is safe to say that he fixed this model's problems, made it look a bit more like hl2, and did remaster some textures a bit. Atleast I assume so.

I mean answer me if you can, what were you expecting? What were you expecting from this mod? What should this have done that other reskins haven't? Not to mention the model fidelity is extremely good, having been made by valve themselves, and you expected this to be made from a person not valve too? I mean jeez what does a man have to do to satisfy you?

It's not about the model fidelity, it's about the texture fidelity. If you're standing within a couple of meters of this model in-game, the texture looks very lo-res. Perhaps the combine didn't need to have high quality textures in the shooter demo because the combine disintegrated once they were shot from a distance. However, in HL:A you do get very up-close-and-personal with the combine...especially to loot them or move them out of your way. I found this addon to break the gameplay immersion because the texture resolution in its current state is so low.

the actual games themselves may not have shipped (although this model was used in hla as far up to fall 2018) but the model itself is for all intents and purposes done

@josephtheKP , I'm aware of exactly what this is. What I'm saying is that it was a Valve test, not a finished product. I thought you brought Valve's test to life by bringing it up to HL:A retail release standards - this is what my criticism stems from and why I called it a "port."

Scarsed: others have experimented with that, but it's always looked wrong because the grunts have very different posture to the cops

the eagle one dev team have working cops with pistols though with custom animations, if you're interested in that


Leojrenrek: thanks, but this isn't a port, this is an official model created by a valve artist for half life vr tests

the model's still in the vanilla game (admittedly in pretty rough condition) as combine_soldier_new_content.vmdl_c, we've just fixed it up and made it a model replacer
