am i correct that this accidentally makes liberating cities reduce warmonger threat LESS instead of more? the mod lowers the reduction in warmonger threat for liberating cities. for example, liberating a capital normally reduces threat by 30, but the mod changes that to reduce it by only 20

thanks! sorry if i'm mistaken

Can I adjust the %s mentioned in the description here? Like is there some customisation possibilities?
Hebrux 2 Nov, 2023 @ 12:13pm
I don't think this mod does enough

I hate being hated by warmongerers for "warmongering" just because I took a few of their cities in wars they started against me. Thanks for the mod.

Hi fellas. If you want to make this compatible with VP/Community Patch (or any other mod that overrides the warmonger values) you'll need to add a reference to this mod's .modinfo file so this mod loads after VP. (located in the mods folder "%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Less Warmonger Hate (v 10)")

This is what the references element looks like for Community Patch:
<References>
<Mod id="d1b6328c-ff44-4b0d-aad7-c657f83610cd" minversion="0" maxversion="999" title="(1) Community Patch" />
</References>

If you're trying to correct this for another mod you can lookup its ID by looking for its .modinfo in the MODS directory and grabbing the ID from the <Mod> element.

If you can't tell what mod is conflicting, then search for "WARMONGER_THREAT_PER_TURN_DECAY" in the MODS directory and see what comes up (make sure you're searching file contents).

Needless to say you'll need to repeat this process if the author updates this mod.

Sure was this mod? is just a data update, one of the least intrusive mods type out there.
Hebrux 25 Jul, 2020 @ 12:17pm
A usual game usually entails World War 1 where I'm the allies and the rest of the wold is the axis. This should help prevent future world wars!

Thank you so much for making this mod. Also I can confirm it works
Thesmartone777 16 Jan, 2020 @ 11:11pm
im assuming this still works?
John 3 Oct, 2019 @ 2:09pm
Ah finally someone on the other end of the world doesn`t hate me instantly just because I defeated a nation on my continent that constantly spied on me and harassed me. Was always a fact which annoyed me and just unrealistic.
BeardedWoobie 5 Sep, 2019 @ 8:46am
So why are city liberations less effective in the eyes of a leader? like the leader who's city i'm liberating cares less?
telstar 20 Apr, 2019 @ 8:52am
How to make this compatible with VP/CBP?
King Kek 13 Feb, 2019 @ 11:38pm
Is there a way via config files to make the 40% reduction 60%?
Canonical 28 Oct, 2018 @ 3:32am
yep
Xherdos 28 Oct, 2018 @ 3:18am
so is this mod still working with GK and BNW?
ninakoru  [author] 15 Aug, 2018 @ 6:44pm
Sorry, not possible, they are fixed values from the database HOWEVER you can change the config file inside the mode to adjust it to your liking.
Gokudo31 17 Apr, 2018 @ 4:45pm
is this mod compatible with vp ?
ninakoru  [author] 28 Feb, 2018 @ 3:01am
Yeah, warmonger penalties apply to everyone.

Can anyone help with how you install this mod?
SRB_MCFC 26 Oct, 2016 @ 6:53pm
pretty solid mod. doesn't do a ton but helps a little.
Canonical 7 Aug, 2016 @ 1:15am
@Usernamehere Please read next time you download a mod:
"NOTE: The mod is still fully functional with the new warmonger changes on the latest meaningful patch, you get a 40% reduction on top of the expected warmonger cuantity, taking into acount if the conquered played is a minor civ, and the era of the conquest."
Usernamehere 11 Jul, 2016 @ 2:53pm
Over the course of my entire playthrough I declared a single war, and in it only destroyed a single enemy destroyer, and I still got a minor warmongering penalty.

Are you sure this mod is working?
Abcsam 6 Jul, 2016 @ 4:38pm
So yea how do i install it?
ninakoru  [author] 28 Jun, 2016 @ 2:19pm
You don't need any extra content for this mod, but is for BNW, in earlier versions the warmonger gain is much much softer.
Seabatt 19 Jun, 2016 @ 1:33pm
Do you/can you have one that doesn't require any DLC
Frank Hvam 16 May, 2016 @ 7:57am
great mod
ninakoru  [author] 1 May, 2016 @ 3:07pm
The mod is still fully functional, believe me that the changes are so simple that cannot be incompatible with other mods.
16 Apr, 2016 @ 5:12pm
I didn't know that warmonger hate decays...
CatnamedMittens 8 Feb, 2016 @ 2:25pm
Does this mod still work for people?
Apmaldījies Astronauts 20 Jan, 2016 @ 4:41am
Not sure if it's working.. Captured one city (low pop, from AI who declared war on me because I created city next to him). After that one single conquer, almost every-single nation denounced and hated me afterwards. This is stupid.
Rulerofhobos 16 Jan, 2016 @ 12:18pm
I'm thinking it's a conflict with another mod and here's why... I tried using a few other mods to reduce/change the warmongering penalty, and I was having the same graphics issues with each of them (running separately). However, mods that don't affect warmongering cause no issue. So it looks like one of my mods is causing the graphics issue but only when there's another mod that affects warmongering. Which is very strange, but I guess that's just how it is. Unfortunately I don't have time to test all the combinations to find out which mod it is, but I did try your mod on its own and it worked fine as far as I could tell. Cheers!
ninakoru  [author] 16 Jan, 2016 @ 4:07am
Nothing to do with this mod. Just changes some values in the database, used only for warmonger calculations. My advice: Clear your cache data (usually at My Documents/My Games/ Sid Meyer Civilization V/Cache), you can wipe all the content inside there. Maybe is another mod. Not that my mod is flawless, is simple and has nothing to do with graphics.
Rulerofhobos 15 Jan, 2016 @ 11:58am
Adding this mod in is causing a weird graphical glitch where it shows some cities with a spy and diplomat icon beneath them, and the sprites next to the city name (directly above the city) are 'compressed' so that they are overlapping. It's probably playable, but it's very bothersome and makes it hard to read the city's quick stats. Any ideas?
tommy61157 12 Jan, 2016 @ 7:58am
Quick question, do you think you could make an overpowered version of the patch which would reduce it by like 90%? If you could, I would really appreciate it :)
ninakoru  [author] 30 Dec, 2015 @ 3:58pm
Due to all the comments 'the civs still hate me': Keep in mind warmongering will still cause a significant effect if you conquer like there's no tomorrow. Conquering two minor civs, or conquering an entire major civ WILL give a major impact to the relations, making relationships and trades hard to keep. Declaring war is still gives a significant impact, and the warmonger recovery, even boosted, may take about 100 turns of peace to be noticeable.

This patch makes warmonger status more manageable, but only if you do it right. As an example, conquering a major civ 2 cities out of 5 on medieval, after they declared war to you will give you very little warmonger hate, maybe 70 turns later or so, you would have no warmonger status at all. Having too many cities (conquest or not) or breaking promises (stealing techs, expanding near a civ) will impact relations too, and has nothing to do with conquest.
ninakoru  [author] 30 Dec, 2015 @ 3:34pm
Ok, I've dived into the source code, this mod is fully functional with the new patch.

Keep in mind they modified warmonger so conquering a minor civ gives half the penalty, and the amount of hate gained is 50% in ancient era, going up a 10% each era until modern, keeping 100% in modern and later eras.

The patch still gives a 40% reduction of any hate produced on top of that modifications, so conquering a minor civ for example, gives 50% of the hate you would get conquering the last city of a major civ, and then reduced the amount by 40%. So if the cuantity is for example 2000, you get 1000 instead thanks to the new patch, and it goes down to 600 due to this mod.

Hope it makes sense. Have fun with the patch.

Oi !!! You fix and you fix now.
-Mermaid Balls- Limp_Cheese 7 Dec, 2015 @ 9:04pm
Was this mod ever fixed?
HeroicLarvy 29 Nov, 2015 @ 7:59am
Didnt seem to do anything. Took a few city states, and all the AI hated me the entire game.
ninakoru  [author] 28 Nov, 2015 @ 7:44pm
I didn't try it with the newest patch, not sure it's still woking, I need to look at the source code to be sure. I don't think this mod can crash your games as it is only config variables changes (xml based), It should work if the variables are still used by the game.
MasterFreeze6 23 Nov, 2015 @ 7:27am
does this mod work?
i have installed it but havent tested it yet so could you please tell me whether it works or not?
The Blonde 9 Nov, 2015 @ 1:59am
Yeah I messaged @Ninakoru about it, but he doesn't seem to respond.
Crypted 7 Nov, 2015 @ 3:16pm
the first game i played with this mod all the civs on my continent denounced and declared war on me upon our first meeting, i dont know if this is the mods fault or not but the entire game i was constantly at war with 5 other civs
The Blonde 20 Oct, 2015 @ 4:21am
@Ninakoru

Can the author of this mod confirm that it still works or whether it needs to be modified in any way?
