I wish this were in vanilla, I just started a war to prevent an empire from completely subjugating another and now I'm worried that my pacifist faction/allies are going to be mad about that.

World War I, in space, but if it was basically France fighting alone against the Central Powers, and the enemies were all on the other side of the world, and the rest of Allied Powers basically demanded France never stopped fighting until the Central Powers were totally annexed. : ]

Fun idea until you remember the dumbass AI can use it too. Then suddenly the machine uprising in your ally's territory that you're helping with suddenly becomes an unintentional total war against some twat who was somehow friendly with the revolting machines, then war against their chucklenuts ally on literally the other side of the galaxy who you can't even get to because everyone is so threatened by you and your total war that you're just trying to end that everyone closed borders to you, and you can't end the total war because only the target defender can end the war and although a status quo peace is possible the AI wants none of it because lmfao why act your pacifist ethos out when you can have your allied rogue servitor go to war with literally the entire fucking galaxy? :>

There's an interesting bug with this module. Once you join a war... if one of your vassals/appendages has a claim on one of the enemy systems, after you conquer it... once the starbase recovery cooldown hits... control reverts to the enemy.

Agree with egotisticalelf, the edict cost needs to be refunded if you choose to opt out.

Also would it be possible to add an option to leave a war, instead of waiting for the AI's war exhaustion to max out?

If you choose the edict, then cancel out, your 300 influence is still gone. I went in because I have multiple friendlies in a war and I wasn't sure which qualified.

I literally just uploaded a load of cool mods inc this and planetary diversity etc which has changed the game brilliantly for me. 2 days later there is a crappy update that changes nothing in the game that the mods did already do better, except to render all such mods incompatible on top of which my game has now slowed to a tenth of the speed, making it unplayable. Wtf is going on?

Now what would make this perfect is if you have good relations with both sides you can intervene by making them stop fighting all together instead of just helping them in a way.

Use influence to settle things diplomatically.

Uhm hi. it doesn't work for some reason. I have all the necessary stuffs (traditions and influence and some friendly nations at war) yet I can't use the edict at all. It's a black box for me
