Ethics and Civics Alternative - Redux
And thirdly development of this mod, with the traditions has been halted as for the other version, it has been taken over by another team and the assets for the original have been made public by the author as far as I remember but do not quote me on that, you can ask him personally.
Secondly he has other things to do IRL like job, life, etc. because he is not a student, he is an actual adult with bills and rent to pay. How do you think he will balance those out along with working on this mod for free and having spare time to rest? He will have to sacrifice one of those and it is only fair that if he sacrifices something to work on this mod then we should sponsor him for doing so, in case he asks.
First of all this is not a problem of capitalism. The creator does not represent a company that employs workers and underpays them for their labour. He is one individual doing something that takes his time and effort and that wants to be properly rewarded for his labour which means that you, the one asking him to work on this for free, are the actual slave driver and exploiter. Not everyone that asks for payment is a capitalist, otherwise according to your argument, the underpaid amazon workers asking for money are capitalists that don't want to work for the common good. See how your argument does not work?
I've seen on the workshop several iterations of these traditions in different mods, so I'm hoping maybe someone managed to update it on their own
The version on this page is basically just an expansion of those mods.
"Modding should not be about money except when I do it?"
Whatever, let's end it now. I'll rollback and try it out. If I like it, I'll take the torch.
I'll thank you at least for being reasonable in your answers all the way through. I expected far worse when I began the shitstorm.
"Modding should not be about money" - I totally agree, and I didn't ask for money when I started to work on my mods 4 years ago. All of them were created out of my passion and I never asked for a penny.
Creating is one thing - it's fun and interesting, but maintaining is completely another story. Keeping the mods up with the constant vanilla updates and DLS's (which are not at ll free, by the way) takes a LOT of time, it's very routine and not-fun-at-all process, and passion can hardly help you here. It is a job. Anyone is welcome to do it, in case he's got free and will - mods are open projects by default.
But in case you want ME to do this - well, sorry, but my time costs money these days. Life goes on, and things changed for me signigficantly in the last few years, I have a wife and a kid to support and spend time with.
I believe my position is fairly clear and honest here.
I haven't even ever played a game with this mod. I just stumbled here randomly. But yeah I can update it myself, I know how to do it. But, just as a heads up, if I do it, I'll release it for free with full credits to you. Modding shouldn't be about money. There's tons of way bigger mods out there for more complicated games and nobody has ever asked a cent in years of development.
I believe @Kain has pretty much covered this (thanks to him, by the way), but still.
500 USD is my evaluation of my personal time, which I would be required to spend in order to work on this update. It is up to the community whether to give me this money or not. Market is very beautiful in it's simplicity, if you just think about it.
If I see that people are really interested in this mod to be updated - I will do the job, exactly how I did it with my other mods. Otherwise, why would I be bothered with this?
Why ?
1. It's not your mod it's his, he decides when and in what conditions he works on them.
2. It's a complex mod that requires a lot of time which he could spend on his own projects, family, friends, self-development etc. all in all it's time consuming and not in a very constructive way.
3. It's not a mandatory project.
4. You can always learn to mod and do it yourself for personal use, instead you choose the comfort of waiting which isn't much of a business model in and of itself.
Are these enough of a reason, I could come up with a dozen more and I am sure you are clever enough to realise this yourself but the point isn't to be conscious it's to whine and so you criticise him instead of waiting or donating like everyone else.
Read it again more carefully. 5 points for 5 axis, this varriant has 7... To invest a point in each means having 7 points.
In the alternative version we have 5 ethic points to be distributed and 5 total axes, this way we can invest one point in each choice if we wanted to. Will we get the same possibility here?
Привет всем! Пока обновил альтернативную версию мода, которая не включает традиции. Чуть позже возможно всё таки сделаю альтернативную версию с традициями.
