This mod was the shit back in the day... Good mods like these take time! I remember when there were two items in this mod, i think the emitters and the floor thing. Have fun man, you sure helped us to!

Well... I know plenty of people who have mental breakdowns because of cancer.... both after finding out they have it, and when it starts causing issues. Sorry for the necropost, but had to say, that seems a weird question.

fun mod but kinda silly. i don't mind micromanaging my pawns or cheating to edit some hediffs, and i play in reload-anytime mode anyway since my game is heavily modded. one question though...

WHY DOES CANCER CAUSE MENTAL BREAKDOWNS? i can only wonder what the logic behind this is

also, mod doesn't seem to check whether the irradiated body part is natural. you can grow "batteries" on peg legs, for instance. might be a mod conflict tho

For those folks who are looking for ways to remove cancer, you can use RIMMSQOL mod to edit the healing property of biosculpter pods to also remove cancer. No need to wait for someone to make a patch :)

Considering how relatively popular this mod is as well as how many of the comments here complain about the frequency of cancer and negative mutations are... I'm honestly surprised that nobody has yet to release a "lite" patch for this mod to reduce those and make it more tempting to use on colonists (as opposed to limiting it to prisoners only).

Hi, for me it's impossible to harvest organs, that get changed by Radiology, if the mod Harvest Everything[Adopted] is active. Maybe it helps someone who has a 500 big Modlist as well and trys to figure out the problem :D

After playing with this mod for a bit, it seems to me the rate of cancer/negative mutations is too high to be worth it. I had my setup at 10% burn, 1% common, and 89% rare, and still got really bad mutations more often than not. I can't imagine sticking a colonist in here, only to roll the dice and likely get multiple cancers and some debilitating debuffs. Would love it if there was a way to increase the odds of good mutations, otherwise I probably can't recommend using this mod....

The Glow Red mutation is really laggy. I noticed a large frame drop after my pawn gained it, and it stayed until I debug'd it out.

You think you could add an option to give burns and mutations to pawns in the world (for radiated world games) maybe even small amounts of radiation to the ouside world being an option? This would be awsome addition to those kinda games

I answered my own question about harvesting mutations ... yes ... you can. I currently have prisoners going through in batches to collect some useful ones.

But if I want to maximize my success with each pass, how would I do so?

@istew I added it midgame and no issues found.

I have a couple of questions though.

Will mutations get overwritten by other mutations?

Can I harvest a mutation from someone and transplant it into someone else?

Not sure if it's a mod issue
but with regeneration the leg grows back
then the femur tibia and foot are left gone
the femur gets shredded when attemping to regrow but stays at 0 hp while still counting as "shattered", so the pawn just gets a ghost injury with a lot of pain without regrowing the part
After using dev mode to heal a few times, ocassionally a sucessful transition to "shattered" happens for the tibia, odd

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm not getting any effects from putting pawns in an irradiation chamber. Sometimes if another colonist is near the radiation stream while another pawn is in the chamber they will get burns, but that is it. I'm also not seeing anything pop up in the log which is why I'm not sure if it is a mod conflict.

I support the popular opinion that there should be *some* sort of cure for the cancer aside from just surgically removing the limb or part.

Shouldn't there be some cure, such as Glitterworld Medicine, Luciferium or some new medicine that can be researched? Maybe through mod support (e.g., Archotech Medicine , Tyrox from Medicines+ or maybe Convergium )?

If nothing else, I would think some extreme drug combination should work, such as Penoxycyline + Healer mech serum.

Also, what about the Biosculpter pod from the Ideology DLC? Shouldn't Bioregeneration fix cancer?

It's fun to mess with, but I feel like it's not worth using seriously when there's no legit cure to the cancer. Even when I went to all the effort of getting my readout to be almost completely rare radiation, the colonist will often keep getting cancer and bad shit anyway.

(p.s. you NEED regular medicine to install the mutations to all who say it doesn't work)

I haven't been able to cure the cancer so I'm just using prisoners and transplanting the good parts to my colonists.
If the prisoner gets cancer or I already have all his useful limbs I let him go, its funny then they come back as part of a raid and you see him slowly walking with his 2 peg legs and glowing green. The only downside to this method is that you cant get teleportation or force fields, since you cant get that out of the brain.

Well for cancer you can amputate the cancerous part anytime, but it requires micromanagement for sure. What is a bigger problem is with Reneration it would cure permanent wounds which is nice but if it's a critical part of the body the subject dies (torse for example) cuz it makes it fully damaged although able to heal but those parts if fully damaged is a death sentance.

I'm using a sort of workaround for the 'tending cancer till eternity ends', but it involves using devmode. Each time a pawn gets cancer I use devmode to remove the cancer hediff and then add the carcinoma hediff. That way it doesn't feel cheaty and I still have to cure a cancer diagnosis.

Would be great though if this were fixed in the mod. I like this mod and I want to keep using it on my prisoners.

I'm unable to install mutated parts onto colonists after harvesting from a prisoner. There isn't an option for the mutated part when adding an operation. If that could be fixed along with the infinite tendings to cancer (not diagnosed), this mod would be perfect!
