Allow Parallax Transition

I'd wager that because it alters the config, it simply applies the config to existing planets just as effectively has newly generated planets. I may have to test this theory to be sure though.

Also, as you mentioned in the description, the line in question is indeed false by default, and the reason can just be a combination of minor inconveniences, as the comments state.

Wow, this is some good sh.t, it's nice to see the background change with each biome, the only problem is a little jerk it gives when it transitions, but the game does this in the subbiomes/underground biomes anyway, so we're used to it :steamhappy:

also your very cool
レイン 24 mar, 2023 @ 15:04
ok thank you very much

I think how it works is that any planet you visited with this mod will retain the parallax transition, but planets you visit after unsubscribing will not have the transition anymore.

At least, that's how I remember it. It's been a while since I've tested this.
レイン 23 mar, 2023 @ 19:57
If i unsubscribed from this mod will it effect my player save?
Avno(AH-vvv-no 15 okt, 2022 @ 10:59
Terraria?
Grand Poo-Bah de Canadiannaise 10 mar, 2022 @ 13:13
No problem, thought I'd ask around.
Thanks!
Refolde  [skapare] 10 mar, 2022 @ 12:44
Unfortunately I do not know enough about how the parallaxes work to know of a solution. Sorry.
Grand Poo-Bah de Canadiannaise 10 mar, 2022 @ 3:52
Hey random question.
I know this isn't about your mod, but it's a parallax thing.
I'm using Vanilla Variety which I'm enjoying. But the trouble for me is that it takes away the trees and rocks in the lush parallax, leaving an empty grassy field.
I'm wondering if you might know of a way to work it so I can have both the diversity that Vanilla Variety adds (like other types of trees, colours of them, colours of the grassy field in the lush parallax) and also have the trees and stones in the lush parallax?
Revalopod 9 mar, 2022 @ 1:22
alright
Refolde  [skapare] 9 mar, 2022 @ 0:13
Yeah, probably not.
Revalopod 8 mar, 2022 @ 11:15
so no point in getting the mod if we have FU?
Refolde  [skapare] 4 dec, 2021 @ 22:58
Yeah, it should be fine to uninstall.
Ashtar 3 dec, 2021 @ 22:41
i also use FU so can i uninstall this one?

i instaled this because i use this mod
Skylands! (all planets edition)
Refolde  [skapare] 3 dec, 2021 @ 22:12
I've been using Frackin' Universe for a while, which does what this mod does already.

I think it should still work, it's a really really simple mod anyways, just replaces one value in one of the game's config files. Though I think it will only take effect on newly generated/visited planets after installing the mod. (I could be wrong about that though)
Ashtar 3 dec, 2021 @ 8:12
This still working?
Lienom Zekon 20 nov, 2020 @ 18:03
thx any way
Refolde  [skapare] 19 nov, 2020 @ 12:35
Nah, it doesn't add biomes. It only lets the background change when you enter a different one.
Lienom Zekon 19 nov, 2020 @ 4:58
im talking about enviorments like earth like desrt tundra, forest, and tropical places
Refolde  [skapare] 19 nov, 2020 @ 0:23
Starbound already spawns different biomes on one planet, if that's what you mean.
This mod makes it so the background actually changes whenever you enter a different biome on the planet.
Lienom Zekon 18 nov, 2020 @ 22:28
right?
Lienom Zekon 18 nov, 2020 @ 22:28
so this puts multiple biomes on one planet like in real life
Refolde  [skapare] 25 jan, 2020 @ 14:02
Just unsubscribe, I guess. From my experience, I think the parallax transitions are tied to the planets themselves upon visiting them, so they'll probably still transition on those planets even after unsubscribing, but planets you visit afterwards probably won't be doing that.
curvedtrees 25 jan, 2020 @ 11:22
ok... now how to turn it back to disable manually?
Refolde  [skapare] 27 jun, 2019 @ 12:02
I see I'm not the only one experiencing that, then. I suppose that's possibly a reason this was disabled in the first place?

Although, I don't think you necessarily lose your vehicle forever, since you can restore it at the repairbot at the outpost for 5 repair chips (or so). Still though, this is something that uh, ought not to happen in the first place. I'm sorry about that.
♫ Tadpole ♫ 27 jun, 2019 @ 8:42
The most crippling bug behind the parallax transition is that the lag seems to forcibly dismount you from any vehicle you're boarded on. This normally isn't a problem, but it can and will make things fatal when you're using the Landable Gas Giants mod - whenever you enter a minibiome with a different parallax, you will be forcibly dismounted from whatever vehicle you're using (you have to use one to traverse the planet, since it's just a series of flying islands), meaning you'll have lost it forever.

EmmyBee 29 okt, 2018 @ 9:47
pretty sure this is not in vanilla game
Refolde  [skapare] 27 okt, 2018 @ 12:53
It is? When did that happen?
NerdCuddles 27 okt, 2018 @ 6:39
this is now in vanilla game
hungrygoose 26 sep, 2018 @ 10:19
Using a terraformer probably sets the .config value back to 'false'
Heavylifting 7 sep, 2018 @ 16:34
Oh, okay, that makes sense I guess.
Are you lost? 5 sep, 2018 @ 7:08
Works a little buggy with terraformers, that might be why its originally disabled...? (dont think so)

Terraforming less than half of the planet: the biome created near the terraformer dosent have its own parrallax changed, rest of the planet's parallax works as usual.

More than half: The parallax will be changed to the terraformed biome's parallax, for the entire planet's surface, no matter the biome
Refolde  [skapare] 4 sep, 2018 @ 22:38
Normally, the background only changes depending on your height, like when you go underground and stuff. This mod enables an option that allows the background to change when you enter a different (major) biome. Like for example... when you move from Desert to Garden.
Heavylifting 4 sep, 2018 @ 22:20
But... what? What does this do? My understanding seems to be that the background changes depending on your in-game height?
XenoMongoose 3 sep, 2018 @ 19:30
@Refolde Okay, so I have found one thing: (for me, at least) the change does indeed only apply to newly visited planets. Otherwise, things have been going very smoothly.
Refolde  [skapare] 3 sep, 2018 @ 13:22
That's good to hear, though some weird stuff might still happen. You can post about it if you encounter anything.
XenoMongoose 3 sep, 2018 @ 11:18
@Refolde All of a sudden, it's working, even on FU biomes! What sort of sorcery is this? :D
XenoMongoose 3 sep, 2018 @ 10:57
@Refolde Thanks. I'll get back to you if I find anything.
Refolde  [skapare] 3 sep, 2018 @ 1:04
But if you're wondering about a "seperate setting" for FU, unpacking the Starbound assets won't be enough, since that's only for vanilla stuff. You'll also have to unpack FU's .pak file too, which I was afraid of doing...
until I checked the file sizes and realized it's actually smaller than vanilla's asset.pak. Granted, it's still pretty big on its own, but if I have to see how FU's files look then that just might be what I have to do.
Refolde  [skapare] 3 sep, 2018 @ 0:45
XenoMongoose 2 sep, 2018 @ 21:57
@Refolde Okay, so, i'm really sorry if this is a dumb question, but how exactly do I unpack my assets? I've never done this before.
XenoMongoose 2 sep, 2018 @ 19:18
@Refolde I'll give unpacking the assets a try. I don't think I have done that yet.
Refolde  [skapare] 2 sep, 2018 @ 15:06
In addition... the biomes\surface folder might also be worth checking out.
Refolde  [skapare] 2 sep, 2018 @ 15:06
Have you unpacked the assets already? If so, it's right in the folder where you unpacked it to, not in any of the subfolders.
XenoMongoose 2 sep, 2018 @ 14:47
@Refolde No pressure. Where exactly in the Starbound folder did you find the terrestial_worlds.config file? I was thinking about taking a look at it and seeing if there was some sort of seperate setting for FU.
Refolde  [skapare] 2 sep, 2018 @ 13:58
I have that mod installed too, and I haven't faced much problems, at least with the vanilla biomes. (I really need to test out the FU biomes more often).
Right now I'm thinking of a possible solution, but it's going to involve unpacking Frackin Universe, which is pretty large on its own. I'm kind of scared of what the unpacked size would be (and how long it could possibly take).
XenoMongoose 2 sep, 2018 @ 11:38
@Refolde Do you suppose that some of the issues I may be having could have to do with another mod that tweaks with the parallax? I was looking through my mods folder and I found that I am subscribed to a mod called "Parallax Fixes."
Refolde  [skapare] 1 sep, 2018 @ 17:51
Okay, so upon starting the game in the sub-biome, I also ended up without a background. After going back to the Savannah, the background returned. Upon quitting and starting again, the background remained there. So I believe this may have something to do with the fact that sub-biomes don't have backgrounds of their own.

Not sure about the music though, I don't usually pay a lot of attention to it, though there were certainly times where no music was playing, but I mostly attributed that to another mod I have installed that allowed periods of no music.
