...does not happen, but the tech did randomly appear as an option, I was able to research it and unlock all the functions of the mod. That said, this mod is trying to do WAY more than just make a buildable vanilla Dreadnought...and while that's interesting I'd love there to just be a "lite" version of the mod that ONLY does that, a vanilla Dreadnought. Something to consider maybe @James Fire. Thank you for your contribution to the modding community though!

It needs to be converted to a DDS file. PaintDotNet can do it.
Work okay on it's own expect the auras slot doesn't show, just a empty slot where nothing goes but think that a issues with the mod code itself since there are 3 special slots in the file ahead of the aura slot so doesn't allow it to show in the ship designer menu.

I have fixed the tooltip
It should be giving the techs properly now.
I can check again, of course...
I've also tried all console commands I can think of.

None of it works. I get the 2 message prompts asking me to pick between the 4 ship designs and then pick Dreadnought Hull but then nothing afterwards.
I approve of this. Because nothing is better than a cloud of angry missiles.
I have no idea what mod you're using that does that, but it isn't this one.
