RPJJ Combo Mod

Description
This mod is not and will not be updated beyond patch 2.1!
I'm going to let it stay up for a while longer in case someone is utilizing it in a rolled-back game or for the modders who want to take resources from it, but my advise to anyone who wants to keep the content of this mod is to make a local backup.

I intend to export the major features of this mod to smaller, stand-alone mods. Currently the Cyborg Portraits are available. The Mushroom Pirates will have their own mod as soon as I am able, but it might take a few weeks.

________________________________________________________________

Mostly working with patch 2.1.0, with redundant custom messages for Gateways.
Only localized for English
Requires Utopia, Humanoid and Synthetic Dawn DLC.

This mod is aimed directly to some of my friends for a specific game we wanted to play. The content may change at any time. The whole package was redesigned completely 2018-March-12, and it may continue to change with no prior warning!
That being said, anyone who wishes to download this mod to play with it or take some of the components is of course free to do so. Just be sure to save a local backup in case we decide to change the content.

The must unique content in this mod that could be interesting to others is the theme music, the automatic renaming of stars, and the original portrait for space pirates.
  • For the portrait, see the mod image. The Space Pirates use static portraits but the Ruler has a scrolling background.
  • The theme music is applied to Space Pirates and the Reptilian Robots by replacing their default species sounds.
  • The star renaming is accomplished through events that trigger when a country with country flags "space pirate" or "roboborg" builds a Starbase. It also triggers when a Starbase is disabled (through an attack) and can flip back to an earlier name when recaptured.

This Mod replaces the following files
(and is hence incompatible with other mods replacing the same files):
  • on_action_events.txt
(in order to give Space Pirates and The Factory custom screens at first contact)
  • 01_base_species_classes.txt
(in order to add the mushroom-based Space Pirates to the Fungoid category)
  • 06_portraits_molluscoid.txt
(in order to give Mol15 additional sounds)
  • message_types.txt
(in order to create custom messages)

Content:
  • Space Pirates! - An original humanoid mushroom-people with sabers (static portrait) and a unique pirate-ship background. Also contains a huge pirate-themed namelist, a new pirate flag emblem, a unique dialogue for first contact, diplomacy greetings, unique theme music played during diplomacy and a pirate-themed list of names for stars.

  • The Factory - A robotic species meant to play as assimilators. Their portrait is only a slight modification of the reptilian robot, but the portraits of their cyborg underlings are more substantially remade (based on humanoid 15). They contain two machine-themed namelists and a serial namelist for stars, as well as a unique emblem, a unique starting planet with modified texture, unique dialogue for first contact, modified diplomacy greetings and lots of theme music played during diplomacy.

  • A twisted Chtulhu pentagram and a similarly themed namelist.

Mushroom pirates look dope, do hope they show up at some point with animated portraits.

I was never really happy with the Factory namelists, but I can include them in case someone wants to use them. The unique Kernel planet should of course be included (I can't believe I had forgotten about that). I will include the unique dialogue if the system has not changed too much in that area. First contact dialogue required replacement of files and thus might cause compatibility issues, so I might skip that part.

What I consider not including is the automatic renaming of stars to Lux ##. That part of the mod was prone to bugs and it was rather confusing having so many similarly named systems.

Namelists, starting system, unique planet and what else is left, I suppose.

Yes, I intend to at least include the theme-music, symbol and the minor portrait modification in a separate mod. Are there any other Factory characteristics that you would like to have included?
infernalthing 1 Feb, 2019 @ 4:24am
Do you plan on making The Factory species a stand-alone mod too in the future?
