Superstates

CMB's Galactic Community
3 items
Description
The Galaxy is a prosperous and innovative place that serves as a home to thousands of unique species. But what if things were to change dramatically? Every prospering state needs a central government, and the Galactic Community risks to become too lenient in order to function as one. YOU need to take matters into YOUR own hands and unite the Galaxy under your leadership!

Features
This modification allows any Empire to consolidate its power. Become the Custodian, remove any term limits and only then will you be able to proclaim a much greater Empire than you started with.

The entire point of the mod – is to allow alternative solutions to the Galactic Imperium. You’ll have an ability to proclaim a Superstate based on your ethics, and sometimes even civics!

Known issues and NOTES

The modification is, obviously, not ironman friendly as it modifies the checksum. It should also be compatible with other Galactic Community mods that don’t feature similar unification mechanics; a compatibility patch is needed.

You can proclaim the Imperium and this is intended, albeit unfinished a bit (you’re not cleared of incompatible civics). It is generally recommended against the Imperium proclamation once a Superstate’s been created, but the game won’t spontaneously combust on you, I promise.

There is also one issue – if you have any mods related to new flag colours or alteration of existing colours, they might break, since the Superstate proclamation forcibly changes your colours. There doesn’t seem to be a proper fix for this, at least for now

One last note is that you must have Nemesis purchased, it’s required for the Custodianship mechanics to work properly, I apologise

That was it! If you have any questions, suggestions or have found a bug, don’t be shy and report anything you think is worth it, I will take a deeper look!

Well i did some other testing and it appears to not be an issue with CMBU.255 itself, i think the linux version just has some massive plate of spaghetti that causes it to explode for merely having the event in that file? Other instances of running CMBU.255 like dissolving a superstate do not cause any issues. So if you could work around having it in there its likely to fix the crash (hopefully)

@Santa Huh, this is weird as hell, as I pretty much play the game with the mod permanently on, and I had quite a few roleplay-ish runs where I released a bunch of vassals with no issues, this game truly is a miracle
Thanks for letting me know though! I'll look into it to see what I can do to avoid this crash :')

Hey i've narrowed down the source of the startup crash. Seemingly commenting out cmbu.255 in the c_on_actions file prevents the crash for...some reason? no fucking clue why as this event (in my limited stellaris modding knowledge) should only be relevant when you release a sector as a vassal. No clue on what broader issues commenting this out would cause or any future crashes that might still be lurking, but i figured it was worth mentioning

Its been a bit but i can confirm the crash on fedora linux which is a shame as i'd love to use it

Ya I wouldn't bother for now. I will post about it with Paradox, since I'm pretty sure it is on their end, but it will be a fair bit of work for a fairly niche bug.

@HiddenPrior That might be a thing, but honestly I have no idea as I don't have Linux and won't be able to test anything. I don't even know what to look for, as these crashes seem random :')

Were any of the other people who reported crashes running on Linux? It may be Paradox side, but somehow this mod specifically triggers it. No idea why. When I run this mod, on it's own, after clearing cache and clearing files, it causes a crash on my Linux machine. On my Windows machine it runs just fine though. Very strange.

Oooh nice, thank you very much, your mod is basically a must have in all my games so its good to have it back again, thanks!
Gordon_CMB  [author] 10 May @ 1:25am
@Ekinox No need to, it was indeed this mod, as it had an older file which used pre 4.0 values for trade policies, and thus you simply sold 100% of your trade all the time :')
I apologize, I keep overlooking stuff like this. The issue should be fixed now though 👍
