Dutch Domination

Description
Dutch Domination
A Vanilla's Domination Inspired Mod for the Low Countries

What features can you expect?:

Dutch Domination functions in many ways as an equal to the vanilla flavor introduced in the Domination Expansion. The Dutch Mission Tree has been restructured, reworked, rebalanced and fixed to add to the historical identity and accuracy of the Low Countries. Furthermore, you can find unique missions for all different starting nations. This mod does not attempt to make the Low Countries overpowered, add in a bunch of provinces or give the netherlands a ton of great wonders, instead it adds in a unique depth and unique challenges that reward playing the mod.

What has been changed?:
  • Reworked mission tree with tons of new missions, for every Low Countries Tag.
  • New Missions for Subjects of Burgundy, such as Holland, Flanders and Brabant, as well as releasables. Holland also received unique Ideas.
  • Updated Burgundy Missions + a new diplomatic action to diplo-expand.
  • New Missions and Flavor for Frisian Culture nations, such as Friesland, East Frisia and a new releasable Groningen.
  • Branching Missions for Religion, Conquest and Colonialism
  • New Events and Decisions
  • New Government Reforms and Revamped Government Reforms. Burgundian State now gives up to 8 additional diplomatic slots while costing 1 diplomatic slot. This is dynamic. Meanwhile through the mission tree you can unlock a Statist Proto-Revolutionary Republic and a Hereditary Monarchist Dutch Republic.
  • New Peasant Estate with new privileges, some of which are unlocked through Frisian and Dithmarsh Missions
  • Minor Mission revamp for Dithmarshen
  • New VOC tag, which is unlocked through missions. VOC has some new ideas and a few new missions (Still wip).
  • The VOC tag has been added, which can be unlocked through the missions
  • New releasables featuring all the seperate historical duchies, counties and lordships such as Groningen, Overijssel, Zeeland, Limburg, Namur, Artois, Loon, Antwerp and Cambray.
  • Updated coat of arms to share similar inspiration instead of modern flags (Friesland and Utrecht)
  • Anabaptism Religion added.
  • New cultures, Limburgish at the start and others can be unlocked through missions

Update History:
  • 2024.6.13 Updated to 1.37.2 + Bug Fixes
  • 2024.6.2 Updated to 1.37

What will be done in the future?
With the mod being mostly completed, I will be a bit slower with updates for additional content.

A rich collection of missions
This mod tries to add in impactful missions with unique challenges and fun rewards tailored to the identity of the Netherlands and it's precursor states. Missions have been updated from vanilla, renamed when appropriate (come on Paradox, really, a mission for the netherlands to discover australia that isn't even named after the first european nation to discover it (Nieuw Holland btw)???) and should flow more naturally.

Branch Missions
One great new addition to the mission tree system has been branch missions. For players and ai, there are now branch missions which can change the way you play any nation in the Low Countries, are you going to go Protestant, or perhaps you want to go Catholic. Will you unify the entire low countries or will you settle for defending the northern provinces?

Impactful and Historically Acturate Flavor
The aim of this mod is to not just have missions which get you to a for just a monetary reward, the goal is for most missions to grant unique rewards which impact the gameplay. Not just overpowered effects which win you the game, but historical decisions which are a dice roll if they are the correct choice. At the same time, the mod tries to follow history quite rigidly and limits alt-hist to plausible scenarios.

Interactions with Burgundy

Updated Burgundian Missions and new interactions with Burgundy and what it has with the Low Countries, such as influencing the Bishoprics.

1.37 Update
With the new DLC, you can also enjoy a new Dutch Mission Tree for owners of the DLC.

This mod is a soft reboot of an older mod of mine, which im planning to update to a similar level of this mod when I get the inspiration and energy to do so.

Compatiblity Patches

There is a compatibility patch out for Arctic Expanded and Dutch Domination, check it out here:

the Frisian mt is broken, when you form magna frisia it only gives one more mission and just removes a majority of the mt since the entire middle side just vanishes

I think the beaver fur trade mission is bugged. its counting provinces that dont even produce fur as eligible for the mission, but no matter how many fur provinces I own, it will not count 3 and will not allow me to complete the mission

I seriously adore your mod but unfortunately I'm having the same issue as Alpacalypse below, where both the Bataafs Republic and the Erfstadhouder Monarchy reforms are immediately repealed. I've tried to fix it myself for quite a while but can't seem to figure it out.

Stage a dutch revolt decision doesnt do anything, it just lets me choose my new government system
Alpacalypse 11 Sep, 2024 @ 11:45am
Actually, both government reforms from that mission are broken.

The Statists Republic mission for the Netherlands is bugged. Selecting the Statists' event option to form the Bataafs Republic does nothing, as the Bataafs republic gov't option is instantly repealed when the option is chosen. I've tried this as Stadtholder monarchy and as Dutch Republic, and it's being done without the Winds of Change DLC.
Also, going Anabaptist crashes the game instantly for me, but that's easy enough to ignore.

sorry, i am doing this when Philip is still ruling, and Charles is his heir, not when Charles is ruling. So for some reason he is becoming my heir when I choose to rule from a local dynasty.
Slug 29 Jul, 2024 @ 12:40pm
When staging the dutch revolt before Charles death, he is made into my heir. Is this as intended? I can almost always recall having dynastic rule after this and holding off on becoming a republic until I from Netherlands. I am unable to disinherit obviously and haven't tried playing the save on to test what happens, so if I am missing something like an event firing I am unaware.

The Mod has once again been updated to 1.37.2 and should no longer have crashes as well as some bugs being fixed.

Very cool mod. Anabaptism is super :)

Unfortunately, two campaigns ended due to error (March 19, 1591). I tried to launch autosaves without any other mods, but still an error occurs on March 13
