Description
Introduction

Please be aware this mod is for myself and a friend and uploaded to steam as a backup

This mod adds 231 American Vehicles to Project Zombiod. The mod focuses on vehicles that would have been seen on US roads in 1993. The mod focuses not just on cars but transport vehicles, emergency service vehicles and utility vehicles, to make the world feel believable. All vehicles in this mod are american vehicles only. The mod currently spans 2 decades, the 1990's and 1980's. Later updates will go back further in time. Each major update will be classed as a wave. There will be smaller updates for patch fixes and smaller car packs.

The mod is currently designed to fit with the game art style and does not have opening car doors like other mods to keep the mod stable when game updates release (this is due to Indie Stone changing the engine constantly). Each vehicle will be updated down the road to have opening car parts when the official release is announced. The code currently is old code that will be updated in future updates as Indie Stone isn't happy with current vehicle mechanics.

I have been having issues joining/starting a server with the mod

This is a known issue with steam Workshop when a mod updates, the mod itself is fine. Usually deleting and redownloading the mod will fix the issues. You may have to delete files manually. If you are having issues, AuthenticPeach has a walk through guide on issues and how to fix them. You can find them on the Indie Stone Forums here[theindiestone.com] This issue with the steam workshop effects all mods from the steam work shop especially when a mod updates.

Please be aware I do not help with support on how to install the mod onto MP servers Or how to fix the mods on servers if they stop working. This is due to how massively different mod installation is for servers and how steam updates mods.

FAQs

1. Important Big Vehicle Issues

Buses, Fire Engines, Truck Ambulances and Trucks have multiple issues that we have done our best to fix or lower. This is due to game engine currently does not support big vehicles as many of these vehicles are larger than editor space. Issue bellow that we are hoping the engine is updated to support;

- Towing vehicles/towing each other
- Pulling trailers
- Mechanic menu closes when opening engine bay (this is seen on other large vehicle mods)
- Vehicle cabs being to high to break windows
- Weight above 600 will cause suspension to drop on large trucks

2. Why did you choose this art style and why do doors, trunk and hoods do not open?

I choose this art style as it fits the games art style while being more detailed. Car parts not opening is a design decision as the code being used is experimental and hidden in the files. Indie Stone has decided that they will be changing this in the future and I don't want the mod to break every time there is official update by the devs. The cars will be updated to feature opening parts when the official update from Indie Stone releases

3. Will you be doing other manufacturers that are not American?

When I released this mod there where not many American cars, most modders where making European and Asian more than US cars so I have focused on American cars as this was towards the end of the height of American cars. All my free content will US cars or US branded cars only.

4. Do you do commissions?

I do commissions which are not limited to US car manufacturers or era. See my contact details further down the mod page if you want to get in contact.

5. Do you plan on making motorbikes and trailers?

I don't plan on making motorbikes and other mod makers are already making them - bike physics have not yet been implemented into the game engine. I will only be doing tractor trailers for big rigs, no small trailers as Filibuster Rhymes has done this as made custom code for them.

6. Do I need other mods to play this mod?

You do not need any other mods to play this mod. The mod only uses vanilla code to run and has no dependant mods. However I do recommend other mods with this mod to improve your experience and get the feel for this era.

7. What does the mod actually do?

The mod does not "replace" vanilla cars - this causes a lot of problems if the mod actually replaced vanilla cars. The mod adds 220 cars to a spawn list that game engine will choose by rolling a "chance". Cars spawning is very random with a spawn chance between 1% - 15% with the game choosing a vehicle skin. As this mod adds a lot of cars it balances out other mods due to large number of cars in this mod which will make rare cars rarer and not turn the streets in to a car show - mod users have reported that this mod does a good job of balancing cars and balancing other car packs from other modders.

8. How will future Updates work?

Updates will have major and small updates with patch fixing updates between. Each major update will be classed as a wave and will also target a certain decade. The next major update will be wave 3 focusing on the 1980's and late 70's. These updates take longer due to amount of effort and work done to make as many vehicles as I can - I am a single developer so major updates will take a few months between releases. Small updates are for cars that didn't make it into a wave or I came up with the car after full production (I plan what cars go into what update to manage my time efficiently). Finally small patch updates are mod fixes where bugs are found or if the game updates and causes errors or at worse case scenario game crashes - these are quite frequent

Keep it up dont ever give up this mod is great
However as a improvement for "lore" sake can you make it so that it replaces completley all vanilla cars so they dont stand out and look ugly? and for those who will tell me use "no vanilla cars" it doesnt work 100% some vanilla cars still spawn rarely its annoying.

Love this mod, all it is need is for the longer large vehicles to have fixed interaction squares. (they typically bug out or are in the vehicle model)

And I would really love to see support for "Standardized Vehicle Upgrades" to add armor on the vehicles.

Sorry, I just realized my game now crashes whenever I approach vehicle mods. It was working fine earlier, but suddenly started crashing – not sure if it’s caused by the update.

I'm not sure if this is caused by the B42.7 update, but my game crashes when I approach this mod's vehicles after clearing zombies. Disabling the mod prevents the crashes, but then the area around the vehicles turns completely black. When I used the terrain brush tool to clear it, I realized those black areas were actually corpses:steamsad:

@bigguysarecrazy mod does not change fuel consumption on vehicles as it uses the default code of the game
