Description
Edit: I was informed of an issue with the mod not working when a certain amount of mods was installed. The user had fixed it on their end by adding a priority of 9999 to the metadata, so I did the same and made sure it still worked on my end. Hopefully this isn't an issue anymore for people with a ton of mods. Report any more issues in the description though and I'll get back as soon as I can!

This mod was uploaded as a standalone version with SentientSupper's permission. This mod allows NPCs to make hurt sounds when attacked and it comes from SentientSupper's Combat Overhaul mod here: https://sp.zhabite.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1595801436 If you want everything, download that mod instead. Do not use this mod at the same time or it will conflict. This is a standalone for those who want NPC ouch sounds but not everything else. Show support for SentientSupper by rewarding and rating the original mod these assets came from. There is also a mod by Anter583 that adds chat sounds to players. I have not tested it personally yet, but look here for info: https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2608061089

@FUS
I'll do a test and release it tonight if it still works for me. I use StarExtensions rather than OpenStarbound so hopefully this fixes it for people that use a lot of mods and StarExtensions as well. There shouldn't be any conflicts though, but if there is any more after the update, let me know! :steamthumbsup:

Thank you very much! Now there's hoping that nothing else was left nonfunctional for months due to mod overload... :blissful_creep:

Not sure why it does that. It works for me but likely because I have less than 400 mods. I'll add the priority to the metadata and update the mod so it fixes this issue for people with so many mods installed. Thanks!

So I did it anyways... apparently the scripts refuse to work if your mod count exceeds 400, for whatever reason.
Managed to find a fix though, there needs to be a priority be set somewhere in the middle of the _metadata file, the line is:
"priority" : 9999,

Can someone please confirm to me that the mod still works on your end?
Just want to make sure before I start dismantling my mod install again looking for incompatabilities (this mod doesn't function for whatever reason, no errors in the log at all, using OpenStarbound version of the game).

Hmmm. Question: client-side or server-side?

Take note though that any player character including Ripto can only use their speech sounds when you have Anter583's player chat sounds mod subscribed. Link to it is in the description. Without it or this ouch sound mod, player Ripto will only use ouch sounds and only NPC Ripto will use chat sounds.

That would be Ripto saying "I'm going to enjoy this!" as part of his in game speech. :steamhappy: My Playable Ripto mod has Ripto using his voice lines whenever he scans something (as the player) or is talking to you (as a friendly or hostile NPC). The Playable Ripto mod has a separate addon that adds ambush events where Ripto and his followers sometimes ambush you on planets. Check them out if you're interested. :steamthumbsup:
