So here you are looking for an alternative to EA Sports WRC or Dirty Rally 2?? Well for me WRCG is KT Racing's best WRC title in all those years, although it is also their last one before EA got the official WRC licence rights since Q4-2023. But regarding the overall realism and car handling aspects, WRCG absolutely feels like a sim-cade racing game. And by that it is exactly in between Dirt Rally 2 and EA Sports WRC, where second mentioned reminds me a lot on the 'arcady' car handling of the DIRT series. WRCG features official WRC stages of 2022 as well as some long tracks up to ~25km. The optional managable career mode does its' job, but is no story driven cinematic racing experience. Compared to EA Sports WRC, WRCG has much more realistic physics overall and an improved steering-, damage- and obstacle model., as well as lots of small details everywhere. And it does feel like driving a car, what you totally forget when racing in EAs title. WRCG also features a splitscreen mode(!), the hud does use the whole ultra-widescreen resolution (!!) which AAA EAs WRC simply does not feature. There is also a large test-map too, where can you can really testdrive as you please. On the other hand WRCG features less and shorter stages/tracks overall, has not the same sound quality and is not as good looking as EA's WRC (both use the UE4). But overall WRCG delivers a way more immersive and also challenging rally sim-cade experience, with still good looking visuals (see my ReShade guide). Tip: To improve sound quality, I highly recommend using DTS Headphone:X with WRCG, it sounds so much bettter unlike vanilla or with Dolby Atmos.

"A cold war Tarkov Light in space, without the need of much adrenaline."
Great concept, very interesting setting, good implementations, okay execution, okay gameplay, meh gunplay, meh graphics, bad sound. Simply needs lots of development time and some love, but the first content update came out pretty soon compared to other titles. So there is definitely hope.
Verdict: In one or more like two years - it might become a pretty good space marauders title.

"Best Pixel-gasm I've ever had."
What if DOOM (2016) and Duke Nukem 3D (1996) had a baby, in 2022? Would it had the face of DUKE and the body of DOOM? Well, maybe... but this here is PRODEUS! A fantastic homage to classical "3D" sprites first person shooter from the 90s brought to us almost 30 years alter. And it is even better than in the trailers. So I won't spoil anything, but definitely try the midi soundtrack (settings/sound). Prodeus is an absolute must-buy, if you like/love Pixel and enjoy DOOM, Duke Nukem, Quake, Hexen, Heretic, Blood, Shadow Warrior,... or simply haven't played any of those yet!
Verdict: LOVE IT. <3

"An almost perfect compromise of DR2 and WRC9."
So here you are, looking for an alternative to maybe Dirt Rally 2 (cockpit view, don't blink for a millisec, always giving 120%) and/or WRC9 (3rd person, blink for some millisecs, smoothly giving 80%). Lucky you, I compared both titles with WRC10 yesterday! Compared to Dirt Rally 2 you get a more managable but still challenging 3rd person rally simcade with a very solid career mode. As well as the official WRC licence, real rally stages (customizable length), lots of beautiful individually shaped roads to master, but also less cars and unfortunately way worse motor sounds. As well as directly compared to WRC9, WRC10 does feel evolved besides the user interface. And convinces with improved physics, a more immersive handling model, new historical rally events, improved visuals (screenshots; tip: disable sharpen and vignette) and new gamepad controls (for a 'FIX' see the section 'Configuring your steering range with Steam Input' from the community guide at the bottom). In short, WRC10 does deliver on what Dirt Rally 2 is missing out and is thereby not a substitute but a very welcomed addition!
Verdict: Underrated 3rd person rally simcade with one - but fixable - obstacle.

Shredders is such an indie gem but more importantly a really good snowboarding sim-cade, with innovative controls, a fantastic fitting soundtrack, nice visuals (screens), a solid amount of unlockable content and a self-ironic single player campaign with a casual gamer friendly learning curve as well. As the controls definitely take some time to get used to. The only things I wished for 3 years ago; more areas, challenges and content have become a reality. And btw the visuals still look pretty good even in 2025 - especially if you try ReShade. ;)

Detroit Become Human is an android/human sci-fi story with morally ethical substance. The game (book/movie) is set in a not very far from possible future, and lets you decide over the outcome of the whole story. Although the gameplay itself is mediocore, the story, characters and actors, visuals and your own decisions make this a gem of a videogame. Thank you Sony that you finally come to a clear mind. PC ...This is the Way!

"SWAT(5) finally has returned!"
Oh boy, after so many years... the long-lost hope has become a reallity. And Ready or Not does not only look but it also plays and feels like a truely worthy successor to SWAT4[en.wikipedia.org]! RorN features immersive tactical gameplay with very solid weapon feedback, dynamic and aggressive npc behaviour, an overall nice level of detail and a campaign mode with bot partners for solo-play. Although RorN definitely shines when played in a human based squad. Regarding the overall gunplay, it is almost as good as in ARMA, SQUAD, etc and is definitely far off such casual/arcady gunplay like we know from CoD or BF2042. There are 18 maps in the base game and 3 new ones in the home invasion dlc (only the host needs the dlc). And additionally there is a MOD system integrated into the base game, that allows for easy access to community based content with ~600 creations, mainly comsetics but also some new maps. Although RorN was officially released back in Dec. 2023, now 8 months later, with the switch to the UE5 ('Home Invasion Update') RorN finally feels truely ready to be a base for even more to come. Though RorN is still not perfect - mirrors should reflect everything like initially, an improved mission briefing and a real crime scene entry would work wonders, too as well as more atmospheric sound fx to support the overall map atmosphere in general and an improved proportion/size-ratio would make RorN perfect... But what the heck VOID Interactive had the courage to create a succesor for a kinda presumed dead SWAT series, and they achieved an honorable and worthy successor!

"Nice start - what's up next?"
There were three guys, called Rainbow Six (1998), Ghost Recon (2001) and SWAT4 (2005). They were known for delivering superb challenging tactical shooter satisfaction. And they gave shooter fans hope, back in the days. But one after another just disappeared, and never came back. Till some years later, suddenly a crew formed up - called the Doorkickers (2014). Tough top-down guys, no question. But they were missing something, those older guys had. It was called "3D". We write the year 2021, the 7th of December, when Thunder Tier One was released. A beautifully looking, spec ops realtime top-down (coop) shooter with pve and pvp, a steam workshop integration and a fair price tag but unfortunately not many missions and longterm fun, yet.
Verdict: Imagine a new Jagged Alliance with that engine!?!
