This game has made it into my Top 10 Games of all time.

The ammount of freedom you have is un-compairable to any other snowboarding game out there in terms of tricks. The moment i knew this was a top 10 game was when i was doing 540 Tamedog Japans off the Knuckle.

The map is really well thought out, on the smaller/meduim side but still packed full of huge natural hits, massive X-game level ramps, Street sections. and so many other little bits you wouldn't think of.

The story is actually really good. nothing insane but its got the right ammount of humour to keep ya in. plus the mission are not insanely hard, some can be for the 3 stars but really good learning curve.

Overall ive noticed i just pick it up to play for a hour or 3 just to de-stress and listen to music

This is a very tentative recommend - specifically if the game is on sale. Otherwise I'd avoid this title for the time being. There are some fun things here but by God this game is nothing like what some of these other recommendations are suggesting. I bought this thinking it would be the tantamount indie SSX sequel mixed with SKATE mechanics. It has none (or little) of the charm to something like T.H.U.G., no Garibaldi or Uber Tricks, limited customization, horribly inexperienced voice acting and audio design, weird and sometimes broken camera angles, archaic UI, and a total lack of a career/story mode or something standard you'd find from any other historic title to this genre where you progress in a notable way. There are missions, but the story that is here needed some much needed tapering. This is the kind of game I'd expect actual snowboarders or surfers to adore, but not because of its gameplay or presentation. It's obviously a title made and produced by people who deeply enjoy the sport. Unfortunately, I wanted far more of the chaos and absurdity that even the simplest of similar titles has been able to capture. No yetis, no crazy or weird missions, rather tame locations, lackluster to limited interactions with the world, difficult and unforgiving tricks, inconsistency across the board and so on ultimately make me question how this game got such a glaringly positive subsection of reviews - especially on PC.

With this said, it does have its own charm. It's just not a charm for someone who has grown up and played other familiar games years ago with far more interesting and unique moments that felt punk-rock and in your face. I love that I can see other snowboarders shredding up the slopes. I think the world is visually engaging, but some lines just flat out don't make sense or they require approaches that aren't intuitive. Factoring in bumps, unforgiving rail grinding, and hard to do tricks - only because of the lack of accurate feedback to inputs - and it fizzles out what should be a fun arcade sports game. I wanted to like Shredders. On paper, it should be a great fit for someone with my interests and background. It just didn't get there, and I really wonder how much of this game's movement is actually intentional or jank. I do think there is potential here for sure, but for a game that's been in development for 3+ years it still has far too much buggyness (specifically what I'd call input confusion) and questionable momentum. I don't ever feel the progression I am making towards becoming a better snowboarder. I wonder how much of the shredding and bailing is my own doing and not the game steering me towards failure/success with a weighted dice roll. The reshred feature saves some of this, but it's not enough to salvage the game for me unfortunately. I don't like leaving negative reviews for indie games, but the overwhelmingly positive reviews here make me feel like I had a completely different experience.

Mediocre mechanics, boring gameplay, bad voice acting, and the frequent mentions of YouTube are annoying and really break the immersion. I'm not here to make a video or be an influencer. I'm here to snowboard, and the snowboarding isn't very fun. Wouldn't recommend.

Editing my review to add that, on top of everything else, this game is broken. I got stuck under a grind rail in a spot where trying to "get back up" just respawned me into the exact same spot, causing me to fall again every time I respawned, unable to get up by any means. A few minutes later, the same thing happened when I got stuck in a tree. This game is laughably bad.
