ARCADE CHAOTIC GRINDY REALISTIC

Play style: It's an arcade, before the match starts you select 1 squad where you can control only 1 soldier from about 3 to 8 members, if you die you control a remaining soldier, your whole squad are bots, and those are very stupid, so the enemy may feel happy that slaughtered them, also you may feel happy when you do the same, so is about who scores more points regardless of capturing zones. Imagine you are on Call of Duty, but will be fighting against hordes of soldiers, bombs and shots everywhere, is a chaotic and stimulating.

Leveling system: Grindy like other Gaijin games, wanna use X thing? unlock it first, but before you can unlock it, you must unlock all the previous items. There is a tree for perks, another tree for perks but in red, another for weapons, your weapon, tank and airplane has a leveling system, the whole game is a tree system for leveling something, you can change the clothing and face of your soldier, this game is anything but simple!

Arsenal: This is where the game shines, realistic tanks, airplanes and weapons for every faction, guns, rifles, carbines, machine guns, antitank mines, grenades, smoke grenades, binoculars, a freaking flask for drinking water, a shovel that really digs, med kits, backpacks, and much more… Interesting and very nice if you are a world war 2 enthusiast. Also you can use tanks or air planes during match, not all the time because you have to wait your turn.

Graphics: I think is OK for today’s standards, not too realistic but not too lame, some soldier animations look wonky. The environment is chaos, so they did it right, smoke, burning houses, dead bodies, water, trees, it is decent. Walls, doors and several structures are destructible.

Classes: As mentioned before, it is complex, can have 4 to 8 different squads to use during a match, 1 squad can be a tank drivers, 2 to 4 members for being inside of the tank, another squad can be about 8 members all using rifles, another squad can be engineers where only 2 can put structures like walls or spawning points, another squad can be the radio communication where 1 or 2 can launch artillery strikes, and many combinations like snipers, flame throwers, airplane pilots and so on…

User interface: Is generic and overwhelming, way too many information at many things you can modify that I consider unnecessary or an excuse for micro purchases, you have to equip each single soldier on all your squad ONE BY ONE, if you load a preset and you have not bought certain weapon, you open 1 tab, then another, then a celebration dialog that you bought it, then close, multiply all those steps per each soldier, it is tedious.

Controls: Realism is OK, I find it funny that is a trend that developers put effort, but let me tell you, no matter how realistic a game is, you still be sitting your ass behind a monitor, so adding up to the complicated UI, you have to deal with controls as complex as WarThunder, only use what you are familiar with, during match you will not even care about the button for poking your nose or the one for blinking.

Summarizing: Give it a try if you have Battlefield style in mind, you may enjoy the diversity of weapons and realism, don’t get too carried by unlocking everything or you will get bored by the grindness, unless you wanna spend real money. If you play on North America servers for some mysterious reason Americans always win by a lot! If you wanna try USSR, AXIS or Japan, good luck.

Cons:

The game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rigged, just like Smite and WarThunder, have you ever noticed that the first 2 or 3 matches of the day you have very high chance to win? but then things get ridiculous as the enemy getting a killstreak of 20 while you can barely get 1 kill, I don’t know why nobody talks about it, just like shadow banning, variables that can be manipulated without you even notice, I have played long enough those games to discover that the more you play their system will consider you as a parasite (what you expect from free games) therefore they will put you with a very I mean very bad team (ridiculous one match after the other) for the rest of the day until daily quests get reset, if you play a lot you will be considered as a parasite therefore you will be used for punching bag service, to keep their servers happy for players who probably pay more than you or are just fresh for the day, free games where there is “teamwork” involved you will be used as filler, no matter how you try you will be outnumbered and get killed over and over and over on spawn. Don’t trust free games!

If you don't believe this kind of previous fairy tale, I'm not crazy look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMZYSs4J898

Some items and skills are overpowered, like trying to kill and enemy when this one has 5% of HP left and for some miracle it is back to 100% in seconds, and then you see it’s a tank with miracle skill that recovers HP combined with an item and cards, yes, this game has cards...

Everything is a predefined path (thanks Overwatch), almost all the maps seem repetitive because it is a predefined path to push the load, it gets repetitive, so most times the all the players will be crammed on a bottleneck fighting the other crammed bottleneck. I don’t like much this style but it is what it is, so I blame myself.

Just like Smite, this game has a battle pass system as well as skins, the thing I almost hate is that you want some animation or skin, good luck opening a chests to get what you want from the other 295 rewards, I don’t like how even if you spend real money you are likely NOT gonna get what you want. I don’t care much about skins/animations but gambling is gambling!

Maps although beautiful, some are deceiving mazes, you want to go around so you can outsmart the enemy "whoops this path is actually blocked followed by another fake closed cage door aside an unnecessary curve that may not even exist in real life architecture", as it was purposely done to force you to follow the path of the payload, but it's annoying as you may loose time and you may end bottle-necked in an alley not knowing what are you actually shooting and who is shooting you (to hell with the tactics). But I would consider this a matter of game style: being crammed shooting the other crammed team.

Pros:

Very charismatic characters, just like Smite, they have fairly well designed/animated characters, with funky personalities and they have a lot of characters to choose from.

Maps are fairly beautiful, although is a shooter game you may not have time to analyze but most are detailed and interesting.

Many skills, well as there are many characters you have many options to choose from to make a strategy or skill set.

Neutral:

I find very odd that this game has a card system where you can boost some skills, also items. Why you need items? maybe they just tried to imitate some other game… It gets weirder as you progress in the game you can buy items that boost your stuff. Why don’t you just buy everything from start or pre-define everything from start? I don’t know maybe they just went with the tradition of some other games…

Early Access Review
A battle royale pretty much like Fortnite (but without building) with many weapons from shotguns to snipers, there are grenades and rocket launchers too, all the characters have special abilities that can turn the tables like healing all your team or making them stealthy, you don't need to spend money if you don't feel like it, but if you do, you can get more characters faster and skins.

Pros:

It's free.
Beautiful graphics: maps and characters.
Not pay to win.
I loved the vehicles on the game, those are a game changer if you know how to use them.
You can play different modes like team death match or going solo while doing a mission, that's new!
You don't need to build a skyscraper to become competent.

Cons:

No pistols.
Always on third person camera.
A lot of bots!
You get grouped with very new players (they behave like a headless chicken).
Only communication via microphone is allowed during game, which is bothersome.

Neutral:

You can re spawn once if you get killed at the very beginning of the match.
You have always a jetpack that makes you jump or dash, but not fly.
You can revive teammates.
You can make your own team.

Comparing to other games of this genre, I struggle to aim in this game and the weapons feel heavy and slow, almost like bows. It's even more frustrating with the frequent 3-round burst feature on many weapons, which I find very annoying in shooting games.

Powers and movement are cool though.

BEAUTIFUL, FUN, GRINDY

Give it a try if you have Fortnite or Apex Legends in mind, this is not like PUBG at all.

PROS:

Graphics: One of the most beautiful graphics I have ever seen. I like how they put effort on making home interiors detailed with so many things that I forgot and those are not just props you can also destroy them. If you play on Mexico map take a look on all the stuff that is inside and outside, it’s a museum! Those forest make me want to explore rather than shoot somebody.

Guns: A very respectable variety of weapons, you can find the most common ones like UMP45, Aug-bar, Barrett, Kar98, Colts pistols. So there are: pistols, riffles, semi-automatic rifles, carbines, sub machine guns, machine guns, shotguns, cannons, flamethrowers, grenades, flares, care package flare guns, etc.

CONS:

Powers: I think they are getting a little carried away specially with the flying vampire, jet packs and jumping mid air. There is nothing to home those jet packs pilots and the bullets are relatively slow comparing to other shooting games, good luck shooting a vampire with a jet pack, that does mid air jumps. If any of the developers read this: Either you nerf some overpowered things or power up the rest to balance things up, but be careful on adding way to many things, the game may loose it essence of being a shooting game.

Hard to get magics: This game uses magic stuff such as rituals, hexes, etc. But first you have to unlock it and after you unlock it, it is a pain in the ass to get in game coins to buy those because the reward boxes (that may have those coins) most times give you other item that YOU CAN FIND ANYWHERE ON A MATCH SESSION. I think they put the grind a little too high… I mean it’s ok the company has to sell, everyone needs money, but it seems unfair if you play against players that have almost everything unlocked. I believe that is the thing that demotivates newcomers to play this game... either you invest some money or not play at all as you have no way to counter; regardless of paying the rewards boxes are an insult. So imagine if you come with PUBG in mind you will go like “WTF!”, probably you should see this more like a Fortnite inspired.

NEUTRAL:

Armor: Probably the battle royale with the most armor items to pick up. Most armor parts are colorful that makes you stand out to get shot easily, but as this is a parody game. You get armor at the price of loosing concealment and speed.

Artifacts: Its interesting that you find gadgets that boost you up, like HP, speed, jumping, running for longer times, restore HP over time, etc. you can make combinations of those to make a strategy like a runner with a shotgun, or a “tank” class, but don’t get to obsessed with these because you may not always find what you want during match.

Refrigerators: There are refrigerators that you can loot to get any kind in-game item, those are spawned randomly on the map. This is a pun for the Cuisine Royale allusion. Either you may get the item you want or not, same as happens with artifacts, don’t get too obsessed with these, as those are randomly spawned and the items you get are random. Consider this game more like improvise on what you have.

Melee weapons: This game has katanas, hammers, axes, baseball bat, pipes, etc. so you can hit someone with it and luckily get a kill… Also the golden pan, you can one hit kill with that, but is up to you if your strategy is melee. Most of the melee items are very expensive, the only one you find on game match is the axe. Probably those are for players who like to spawn near others and try their luck interchanging hits to one another.

Magic: You can draw signs on the surfaces and use those as traps or support, slow down, grenade trap, healing, teleport, jump, spawn a zombie. Pretty much like traps but you can also throw hexes like a grenade. And rituals, you can summon meteorite rain, flood the land with water, spawn zombie apocalypse, lower the gravity, etc. The game gets very hilarious if you have some good ones. You could use those as a tactic also, like "the ritual of the killing sun" while you being immune to it.

Vehicles: Land vehicles such as a normal car, it has boats, something like a tank and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jet pack.

Powers: The game has heroes (characters) you will have only 2 as default, and the rest you can buy or use for free for a while, but only 1 per time. Each one has powers like, slowing down time, moving fast, flying, become invisible, spawn zombies, this is one of the most prominent features of the game, either you like it or hate it.

Miscellaneous: The game has empty hex bags that you can craft at a fire-camp, stun grenades, smoke grenades, a crossbow that shoots grenades; some vending machines that you can buy things either with money or souls (you get souls by killing players or destroying tombstones), and eventually in the game you can find a slot machine that rewards with combat items. You can shoot a flare to the sky and a care-package drops, this one contains rare stuff, not necessarily items that are “game changer”, I believe the only useful item is the Barrett because it can 1 hit kill.

I almost gave it a thumbs down but the game is fun if you don't get too obsessed with winning the match.

Imagine you want to see an action movie but you get a documentary instead, same with this, it's a simulator and I am not sure if I do call it a game. It has a large number of active players but on my ping (below 100ms) roughly you can get 2 players, like 1 to 3 on among 8 servers. I like military stuff but I don't know, this feels like having a second job and the concept of fun is not very well defined, I prefer to something more stimulating, it is supposed to be a game after all. I dare to say that not matter how realistic you want it to be you still will be sitting in front of a screen.

I would assume that to enjoy this game you must have the next:

Many friends that really play and like this game.
Knowledge of the game.
Probably all the DLCs.
Mods.

I got seduced by the discount price, the videos on YouTube and the number of active players. Once I joined the game I was playing on a server with only 3 players, me wandering alone and clueless. I know that I must learn to play first but I still find it tedious for a "game". I got refund denied, because I wasted many time configuring a button for blinking, another for sneezing, combat pose 1, combat pose 2, combat pose 3, combat pose 4, button to check your map, button to check your watch, button to check your compass, button to check your GPS, button to check your GPS but toggle.

Pros:
Interesting if you like the anime.
Good if you want to learn the game.
It's "free".
Better play it with friends.
Cool animations, sounds, music, effects, etc.

Cons:
Cards are ridiculous overpowered for these quick match rules.
The rules are different from the classic game.
Way too repetitive once you pass gold rank.
Some cards can be accessed only if you pay.
Some of cards are totally unobtainable.

About 80% of the time it does not feels like playing an strategy game, it does not makes you think or analyze the match like if your life was pending from it, cards are ridiculous overpowered that either you win or lose like on the first turn, that makes this game boring, not fun and uninteresting, HAVING MILLIONS OF PLAYERS WITH THOUSANDS OF CARDS, AND YET THEY ALL PLAY WITH THE SAME DECKS! Where is the creativity?... Where is the strategy?... Where is the fun?...

Rock, paper, scissors has more strategy than this broken game.

Update: Pokemon Showdown has more strategy than this.
