Look im not going to lie, my first 2ish hours with this game were rather boring. Id say with some confidence that you quite simply need to play on Suicidal or above for the game to be hard enough that things constantly happen. Some mission types are kinda boring and doing all the little extra side objectives involves lots of running to the middle of nowhere which I also dont find fun.

So why is this review positive?
Because I took a step back, found some missions I do enjoy, found a couple guns I like, some armour that makes movement faster and I turned up the volume of the game.
You read that right, the audio, I had it too low. Normally I have games at about 30% volume so I can hear my friends on discord. Very simply, with this particular game, big mistake. The audio is a huge part of the atmosphere in this game and I say you gotta crank that ♥♥♥♥, even if it means you cant hear your mates mumble on occasion.

This game mostly meets the hype. there's some game play affecting bugs and a paid battlepass I dont like but overall I am enjoying this game, it just takes a different mindset. I went into it expecting something like Deep Rock Galactic or EDF or Payday. Its not like those games, you will not spend your entire time kiting enemies and shooting.

Some extra notes.
I play on Linux, I clicked play and the game worked, no tweaking.
I said "No" or "Decline" to every single pop up I go in game to agree to some form of data collection or account linking or whatever else. I can still play multiplayer with randoms, yes, even without a PlayStation account.
The game does have a Kernal-level anticheat called nProtect and I am flat out terrified of it. I wouldnt have bought the game because of it. But a friend gifted it to me.

idk like 7.5/10, ill rate it higher if they remove nProtect.

Its Halo.
I really dont have much to say.
I played Halo 1, 3, ODST and Reach as a kid growing up.
Having them in one collection with some extra QoL features on PC is great.

Embody what it means to be a sheep for an hour.
Its a quick fun romp.
Clearly its a teaser for a bigger upcoming game but that doesn't detract from it. The game has 3 boss fight stages, some light metroidvania mechanics and some good music.
Grab this one whenever your bored.

I really enjoy shooters with team play and movement.
The Finals has movement and team play in abundance.
Its not Pay 2 Win, it gets regular updates, it supports my Linux computer, it has great graphics.
So 10/10 right? were done here? Games perfect?
Kinda.

I really do enjoy this game and the vision that Embark has. But the destruction, while super cool and very impressive, faces the predictable issues of sometimes being buggy or causing hard to read gameplay. This isnt super common but its common enough. I have been squashed by mounds of concrete but somehow squeeze out like im made of slime. Sometimes I can vault into impossibly cramped spaces which feels cheesy.

I really do like this game but I do feel as though the destruction will eventually get old as players start to hit frustrating or hard to read situations caused by entire buildings collapsing.

I would like a game mode that had less destruction. Id rather the houses floated like minecraft blocks, than fall in a way that makes moment to moment gameplay feel like a headache.

Also, the OST slaps

Yeah, game is actually fantastic now, grab it if you have even a remote interest.

UPDATE:
Quickplay, new animations, skipable cutscenes, new grenade type. The game is now in a state that I personally deem to be playable!

FOR NOW, I dont recommend this game. For now.
Operation Medic Bag addresses every issue and more that I personally have with this game and I do have some trust in the devs.
The actual core gameplay is almost perfect, its just lots of QOL features are oddly missing, progression is done in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way currently and build variety is lacking.
But 2 of those 3 things are directly being addressed and the build variety im confident will get better when more updates come out.

The game is fine UNTIL
Level 3-1 and 3-2 both have this MASSIVE empty room that causes the game to freeze.
I also fell out of the world and into an endless void in 3-2.

For $1, this game is a quick laugh. Theres barely any anime girls at all aside from a JPEG in the bottom corner of your screen.

Its a unity asset flip.

Couldnt play the game due to EA App.
EA is aware of the issue but it shouldnt have happened to begin with. I dont understand why the game needs a second form of DRM ontop of Steam which is already DRM.

God I hate the 2K launcher. I just want to open my games, what is this garbage?

This game is Pay2Win. It features a large amount of micro-transactions.

BUT
The core actual game?
Fun.

Iv had, at time of review, 7 hours of actually enjoyable fun gameplay for $0. If there comes a time where I feel I cannot progress without money, thats when ill uninstall. For now, the game is fun.

Im recommending this game under the guideline that your an adult who can resist microtransactions.

EDIT:
So, im now notably further into the game, another 16 hours and iv spent about $8USD.
Im still enjoying the game and that $8 was spent on a battlepass and a couple $1 start bundles.
So my dollar to hour ratio is less than $1 per hour.
The game is still very enjoyable but im starting to feel the grind. I did read somewhere else that completing the Career mode as a free to play player takes about 12 months and thats fine by me. Knowing that, I will no longer spend any additional money on the game. $8 for a mobile game is about the right price point for me.

EDIT 2:
This game slaps. The career mode is fantastic and I love the amount of progress you make from doing the weekly events.

EDIT 3: Its been another 12 hours and im still enjoying the grind of this game. I really enjoy how the Career mode and Showcase mode regularly intertwine if you want to progress the fastest.

EDIT 4: Its been 7 real life days since the last edit, I have still not spent a penny more than the original $8 listed above and im still having a blast with the game.

EDIT 5: Another 2 weeks as past and I just got the steam acheivment for staring up 30 cars. I have 27 cars in total. I play a little less now mostly because at my level, its hard to find a club. All the top end clubs dont want me and all the newbie clubs are beneath me and full of players who quit after a couple days.
So I login, do a few daily things, few attempts at where im at with career mode and maybe ill play some multiplayer while watching youtube. Its still fun but the initial hype is dying down for me.

EDIT 6: THE FINAL
ok, I got all the steam acheivments, bye bye. Was fun, was a good grind, I liked my little club community.

This is a breakout-like game. I would not call it a clone, it has some unique ideas and mechanics that were not in breakout. Its actually a weirdly high quality and polished game.
Pick it up for $1.50 or whatever when it goes on sale, you will not be dissapointed.
