Its Team Fortress 2 haha, whats not to like

It genuinely properly pains me to write a negative review for a game that was such a big part of my teenage years but actions Valve has taken very recently have hit me like a truck.

CS2 had a rocky launch and still today doesnt have the same instant responsiveness of its previous entry. Theres many reasons for that, I am not going to go into it. But the main idea is the game doesnt FEEL as good as CSGO and therefore issues get a bigger impact on the overall experience.

So if over a year of the game not being as good as CSGO didnt make me put a big red thumbs down, whats happened now?

Classic Offensive is a mod for CSGO that aims to bring 1.6 style gameplay into a modern version of the game with all the niceties that come with that. It was a fan project, it was entirely free, it was worked on for 8 years and at one stage Valve even outright told them they approve of the project.

Just a few days before release, Valve reached out to the team and basically told them to get bent, delete all your 8 years of work, how dare you consider releasing this mod.

TF2 and HL mods? Yo, we chilling, put that ♥♥♥♥ on its own steam page! (Some even came out less than a year ago).
CounterStrike? Nah, were shutting that down at the final hour ater already endorsing it years ago.

If all this ended with Valve announcing there own published Classic game or with the mod team being hired for paying jobs, then I might be more forgiving but they have left the community and the devs with nothing, not a scrap. All we have now is youtube videos of testers playing through development.

This is very out of character for Valve, a company that is heavily built by passion, community and quite litterally mods. Gabe's precious Dota 2 (Which I also love myself) wouldnt exist without modding, and neither would Counter Strike.

You win CS2 community, you were right the whole time and I was wrong, Valve does not give a single sliver of a care about CS. How foolish I was to think that CS2 would continue getting updates and become another legendary entry in the franchise. The magic is gone.

Gonna go play Minecraft now.
