An absolutely fantastic game. It's short, but is so fascinating and at least for me, very tear jerking. What you get out of this little gem is not hours of gameplay, but rather thoughts and ideas that will continue to poke at you. Be warned, you should do your best to go in blind. Once you've experienced it for yourself you can read up on additional information and see how other people played it.

Oh, and the game *isn't* supposed to crash. I had that happen once during it.

A ginormous leap in all aspects from the previous game, this sequel takes all the concepts attempted and either refines them or brings in mechanics that make a lot more sense. All while being a heck of a lot more fun to play.

The game's story is in my opinion, actually memorable this time around. It doesn't over stay its welcome and works well even on its own. Not something I can say about Fate/Extella which dragged and really didn't add much to Fate as a whole. Characters all feel like they play a role this time and have improved dialogue more fitting to their personalities. They did an excellent job when choosing the line-up for this game. I was cracking up at parts and even got a little teary eyed by the end. (I'm pretty emotional though so I guess that's not too hard.)

The gameplay is far more refined and well thought out. One of my biggest complaints in the first game was the fact that the combat had some very flawed tools. From unbreakable blocks, to dash attacks giving you unrivaled movement with the ability to quickly charge your meter to nonchalantly fight off foes. This time the approach focuses on grounding you by making you use abilities and attacks that limit your movement. Something that sounds terrible at first, but really brings to the table a challenge when fighting. -Also blocking doesn't last forever. Another bit is that the levels now feature more wide open areas, moving away from the train-wreck of some sectors being mini-mazes. I could go on but the changes are plentiful and all of them happen to be positive.

The graphics are highly improved. Still keeps the anime style with its unique take on character designs and the difference is night and day between the old models and the new ones. Not much else to say in this area.

Music is well composed, accomplishing the full range of emotion with excellent composition. I'll update with official track names later, but the song for the entrance of the main servant and the song for normal endings are definitely my favorites. My only complaint might be that the very final song in the last ending is rather, empty. I presume they wanted a more ominous touch with the player reflecting on the game, however it didn't work for me. That's a huge nitpick though.

The first Extella to me was a one time run, you did the story and all its iterations and completed the side stories for whoever you cared about. It could be fun to go back and play now and then but it just didn't have much replay value to me. After beating the story in Extella Link I wanted to keep playing. Partly because I finished the story using ONLY the characters available, sure, however the game has a great feedback loop of unlocking the core skill set and raising your abilities. The cast is also expansive and offers a lot of variety to keep you trying new things.

The multiplayer is an odd choice but also one that makes sense. It's a shame you'll most likely need to round people up yourself in the future once the initial release of the game rolls over. Still, it's a nice way to share the game with others that might own it and gives you an excuse to keep playing.

In terms of company practices, rewarding fans of the previous game with costumes and a pre-release coupon for -10% off is a huge plus. I think the DLC is well priced when it comes to regular outfits, however character(s) DLC and some offshoots are a bit pricey. No upgrade option for deluxe edition sucks. It's also disappointing that only a small selection of outfits from the prior game made it over. I guess the reasoning was wanting to give everyone a new outfit, resources, and not daring to deal with controversy over selling the same DLC again to people. I had no intentions of buying this game on release after my personal decline in interest with the franchise and stilted view of the first Extella, but that coupon made me look further into the game and amazed me at just how much was altered for improvements. Honestly they did a fantastic job at grabbing my wallet.

Extella Link is everything you want in a sequel game. You might as well skip the original the gap is so large. Seriously, just look up a summary on it and start here. I can't imagine what they'll have to pull to top it if they keep the series going. As a Fate fan you should be more than fulfilled by this game, and even those that are considering getting into the franchise might give this a shot. It's a game that's fun and stands on its own, and sometimes that can be the best gateway into what seems to be a rather intimidating series to people. (It's not that hard, just put a little research into it, find one of the million people asking on forums, and avoid the animation studio DEEN -EXCEPT WITH CARNIVAL PHANTASM- like the plague.)

Overall, 9/10. -1 point for not having all the original Extella outfits, and having that really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ animation for the opening movie of the game that doesn't match the quality of the song or in-game visuals.

EDIT: Changing my review from a positive to a negative. I was on the fence either way, but the bugs in this game have become too much. Current issues include,

NO INVITE SYSTEM - instead friends can add you to games without your approval and MULTIPLE times too!, this doesn't work when you have LIMITED SAVE SLOTS as a micro-transaction. Sure is fun being locked out of anything when someone just spams you into games.

SAVE GAMES NOT APPEARING - Yes, so you can run out of save slots (just one game invite if you don't pay) and be unable to do ANYTHING. (The cause of it might be a plethora of invites however, unsure on that.) Rebooting the game does not solve this issue. It appears the only way to circumvent this bug is to use the quick match button in the starting quest line and pick a character and leave said game. Said quest line will NOT be available once you finish it so good luck if you experience this bug afterwards!

SKIP TURN UNDER SKIP DEFENSE - Getting attacked multiple times and you hit the skip defense button to get through it because you don't have any defense cards? OOPS THE GAME'S UI LAGGED OUT AND BECAUSE THE END GAME BUTTON IS RIGHT BELOW IT YOU MISSED YOUR TURN!

Old review as follows: Game needs some serious work, but I do find some enjoyment in it. Major complaint right now is terrible UI, lazy and uninspired art, a terrible tutorial (you'll 100% need to play some matches with the AI to fully understand everything going on, hell 30-50 matches in I still have no idea what ends the game suddenly without the final boss dying) and some minor yet very annoying bugs like losing a turn because of lag and having the skip turn button right where end defense phase is.

HOWEVER, I really do like the fact that this is a card game that doesn't ask you to grind your ass off to get the legendary cards to be "competitive". Now to be fair the game revolves heavily around RNG so I wouldn't call it competitive in the slightest, but at least it manages to be a fun experience. This really feels like a card game that you'd buy at the store and bring home to play with your pals.

While my initial impressions are mixed, to say the least, I'm hopeful with some support this game can start to shine. So many unknowns right now in terms of how the other modes though leaves me slightly worried. For now I give this a "hesitantly try it because it's free and it could be really good down the line but expect to be lost."

Also letting us be able to pick our characters would be a nice alteration that I wish could be made. Just a small thing and I understand part of that is to avoid people fighting over playing so and so. Voting and a coin flip is all that needs to be made to correct that though.

For a dollar, sure. Anything more? No.

The game is way too chaotic and fast, without any real balance. The game is pretty bare-bones without a whole lot going on. The gun play is sub-par. The assault rifle is one of the few guns with the correct "feel" to it. The shotgun is probably the most powerful weapon but also feels like you're (attempting) to spray someone with a salt shaker due to the lack of sound and feedback. Also doesn't help that in a server with too much lag you'll find yourself unable to reload without wasting 3x-5x the amount of time for it to finally register the reload key in-between the animation cooldowns.

I think they took too much inspiration of the N64 Army Men series without focusing on making the game fun and enjoyable with today's standards. Definitely a blast from the past, but with little to no nostalgia of this particular title the fun runs out quickly after the first half an hour. I would have liked to have seen this concept taken to another level with some more fresh ideas and concepts.

5/10 - Thanks for reminding me of the memories, but my fun will be had elsewhere.

I won't call this the best controller ever, nor would I call it amazing. It works, it functions, and it does what you want it to. There are limits to it however. You *probably* don't want to be using this thing for fighting games for example. The touch pad is simply not a quick enough tool to execute such complex motions, and having an incredibly small and cramped set of analogue stick with buttons just isn't ideal. If you needed that third party controller that was always bizzare to give to a friend (or yourself if you're feeling nice) when in a problematic situation of not having any other suitable tools, this thing can get the job done in that case. -But again, not ideal.

The controller is definitely designed for people wanting a compact way to play their PC games on the couch. It also has other niche uses. Okay, so yeah, it's designed for the earlier reason. I don't pull mine out, except when I need a second controller for something or want to mess around with dumb things like using the gyroscope for motion controls in certain games. So just seriously consider what you intent to use this for, and ask yourself, is something totally alien really worth buying instead of a standard Xbox controller? If it's on sale, maybe. But I think for the average consumer this isn't what you're looking for.

My rating: 7/10. Good build quality mixed with a fun but not so practical control scheme. Perfect for some situations and dog crap for others. A niche product ripe for experimentation.

Oh and if you do decide to get one, keep the box. Not having a dongle holder in the device by default is a killer. Plus the box is spify.

Played for a couple of seconds. Quite literally terrible. The game FEELS bad, it LOOKS bad, and why do I need to pay money to unlock characters? This game is based on Smash Brothers which has arguably the largest roster around, so being locked to three characters right off the bat just doesn't sit well. Just charge for cosmetics instead, this is not the way to go...

Seriously, either go play Rivals of Aether or my personal favorite, SLAP CITY. They both feel better and have a more fair business model. Of course if you have literally no cash I suppose this is better than nothing?

I enjoyed Project M but keep in mind these developers have $6 MILLION dollars to make a great game with. This is not what should be acceptable. Could it become something good in the future? I suppose but this is not a promising start.

Game is Slaptastic; tons of fun to play and the atmosphere lends itself well to humor, all while keeping the competitve edge.

Better than Smash
Better than Rivals of Aether

This game is gold. My only complaint is the netcode isn't the best, reminding me of Smash Netplay, but perhaps slightly worse. (Most certainly when playing more than a 1v1)

Princess Remedy is best girl.

Obviously this game has some technical kinks to work out with its PC launch, but not everyone is having issues, such as myself.

Overall the game runs excellently and I'm having a blast. Look up some of the discussions if you run into problems yourself. Many of them have already found a solution.

The game itself is a lot of fun and I can't wait to pour hundreds of hours into it. Getting used to not having a Drive attack like in Blazblue is weird, but I'm a big fan of not having to worry about an assist being thrown out instead of a swap. That always bugged me a lot in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Speaking of, the "smart" combos are in this game. A feature I appreciate as it allows to actually try out all the different characters without worrying about needing previous knowledge to at least hold a chance.

They also did a nice job making sure you can actually enter the game easily. In DBFZ for example, it would always ask for Online or Offline right off the bat. This was annoying, especially if you hit one by mistake. The in-game lobby menu makes for a much better experience with getting to where you want to go.

The voice options are a great feature that truly surprised me. I'm excited to try the Dub out, but the option to switch if it becomes annoying is fabulous. It's a shame the dub sometimes doesn't sync perfectly.

Now just give me Celica and I'm a happy man! 11/20/19 - CELICA WAS ADDED 10/10 PERFECT GAME!

A fun, dumb, splash-tastic third person shooter. with a dash of the most obvious aspect of this game series

I had more fun in this than Estival Versus (My first fray into Senran Kagura) likely due to the genre switch.

Singleplayer has enough content to have fun grinding away for completionist sake, however it lacks any real difficulty.

Multiplayer does unfortunately have some issues of balance because of the leveling of cards, but this isn't something I sought after anyway. Some kind of competitive (or perhaps for the survival mode, a challenge handicap) option would have been ideal. Quite a bit of fun though and the game does shine in this aspect. The problem lies in the fact that any multiplayer game is bound to the fate of its playerbase. -You'll likely want some friends for the ride or you'll have to seek out fellow fans.

People complain about the DLC. It is a little on the pricer side for what it is. Seeing as it's all cosmetic though I have no problem with it. It would have been nice to have each individual item for sale like the Playstation version, but I also understand that doing so is a large undertaking on top of the fact that it can potentially screw costumers over for not doing enough research.

Outside of the inital launch bugs I haven't experienced anything outside of a minor crash or two. They seem to be on top of this.

The Sexy Soaker edition should only be desired if you want the OST or outfits. I disapprove of the lack of an upgrade option.

Blockstorm isn't the most amazing game. It isn't incredibly polished or well refined. It doesn't even really have more than a few players, but my god if it isn't amusing.

From custom player models. to custom maps, to custom gun skins, this game has a lot of creative outlets and is likely where you'll spend a lot of time. Browsing the workshop to see the dumb memes as well as legitmately well made skins is a fun activity in and of itself.

The gun play is servicable. The movement and recoil / sway feels very floaty and takes some getting used to. Getting through small holes is rather annoying and digging has both a helpful and counter active assistant of breaking the block right under your crosshair every other block or so. This makes digging tunnels a much easier job for one man, but carving specific blocks out is one of the biggest pains as you destroy the ground below you.

Servers are pretty much all dead. You'll find 1 and, in extreme situations, 2 servers filled with players. You'll likely want to bring a friend along with you for the ride if you decide to try this game out.

I'd love to see Blockstorm lighten up a bit on restrictions on gun-skins. I'd like to see improved physics and gunplay. I'd love to see the shovel have an optional secondary fire for more precision. However, in the end I'm having a lot of dumb fun and that's really all I can ask for. Sometimes it takes me back to the good old days of Counter Strike before it became hyper competitive.
