This game is a lot of fun, and I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for something different to play.

Welp, it looks like OpenIV is back from the dead, and as a result, I take back my earlier statement about never touching this game again. Hopefully Take-Two learned from this farce and will stop trying to criminalize the modding community. Even if they do change for the better, however, I shall still leave my original review below as a reminder of what has happened. Although this situation has been resolved, it must not be forgotten.


[ORIGINAL REVIEW] I enjoyed this game not for its story or the online gameplay, but because of the hilarious antics and challenges only possible through the use of mods, and since Take Two Interactive has essentially banned these mods, I no longer have a reason to play this game. I wish I could get a refund, but alas, I simply played too long. I can say with full confidence that I am never touching this game again.

A while back, after the introduction of loot crates and the removal of the Tech Tree, I stopped playing the game, as it was then horribly unbalanced and no longer fun to play. However, after coming back to it today, I was quite pleased to find that they've gone back to what worked. The game is way more fun now than it was in the past. If you've been put off from this game in the past, I urge you to give it another chance.

This game is amazing.
While some may argue that it isn't very physically accurate, I feel that this game's dumbed-down version of rocket science is a great way to introduce people to concepts that they otherwise would never learn. (probably the biggest example of this being Delta-V. Be honest, how many of you had no idea what that was until you played this?)

I'd go into detail as to why I believe this game deserves your hard-earned cash, time, and attention, but doing so would spoil the game itself.

I was genuinely surprised when I first picked up the Steam Controller. It had a very ergonomic design, the trackpads felt like I was using physical trackballs, and the controller itself was surprisingly responsive, given the fact that I was using it wirelessly. Not only that, it works great even outside of the game, just using it as a mouse felt great as well. If you're a fan of PC gaming like I am, please, do yourself a favor and buy one of these.

UPDATE: Still love it, just tried using this for a Sonic Robo Blast 2 playthrough and I would still recommend tracking one of these down. It's really sad that they've been discontinued, but you can still find them floating around on eBay. I'd recommend getting one sooner rather than later, as these seem to be appreicating in value at the time of this update. However, if you don't mind waiting for Valve Time, apparently Valve published a patent a few months ago for an updated Steam Controller design with Xbox Elite-style swappable controls... Maybe that's why this original version was discontinued? 👀
