In time, you will know the tragic extent of my failings...

Not quite certain wether or not it's "a bit easy" or "perfectly balanced". I finished the game on my first playthrough (but there are other scenarios as well!).

There are some nice plot-twists and unexpected things that happen, which is great. The game kept me in suspense the entire time. Graphics are crisp, controls intuitive, systems are well tought out. The choices you make really have an impact.

After all the waiting, I am definately not dissapointed. Good work devs!

When after playing the game for 5-6 hours the intro credits start playing, there is little else that I can do besides giving a BIG recommendation for this title.

HD textures/voice/sound packs are free DLC, which is great news. The game never feels forced, I don't mind the "saving through drinking/sleeping in a bed/quitting the game"-mechanic. It makes you more carefull and makes stuff like lockpicking or stealing genuinly risky. So far I haven't experienced any crashes yet.

I feel like I'll spend a lot of time in this game!

Fun gameplay. Nice game mechanics. Graphics are still pretty decent even though the game is 6 years old.

Only one minor complaint; the kill animations with the darkness tend to last a few seconds and are often the same animation. It's only a minor complaint, though. Nothing gamebreaking or anything.

Didn't play it through. I recommend this game because I acknowledge it's potential. The thing that stopped me from completing it was the move/cover system. I dislike cover shooter, but since this game was in my backlog and I got a key for free a few years ago so I decided to give it a try nonetheless.

I loved the reboot. I've only spent 2 hours in this one though. It doesn't feel like "the next game after the reboot", but rather as "a different game with a very similar name". [Edit; I've given it a chance and my opinion remains the same. It is, however, also an enjoyable game. I hope that SW3 will combine the best of both.]

If you liked the first one, I'd at least look up on youtube what the gameplay here is like. If you didn't play the first one, than I guess you can't expect "the wrong type of gameplay" and hence the game will not feel unfamiliar when you first start playing.

If you're looking for a mission-based looter shooter with the same kind of humor as the reboot, then you'll appreciate this one more than the original.

Either way, the destruction adds a lot to the action; weapons pack a punch (both melee and firearms); there is a story; and the movement is enjoyable. Graphics are far from bad and the frame rate does not disappoint.

I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in about 3 years, but had my hopes up for this one.

TL;DR: Game looks nice, runs smooth, feels empty and frustrating, has typical Ubisoft shortcomings which they, by now, should be well aware of and that aren't hard to implement/fix/change. Asked for a refund because crashes + same old mistakes.

Actual review:

After the initial trouble with the ctd on the barn screen, I got it running and played for a while. It crashed again after a while and I couldn't get it running since (mostly due to no motivation to keep on playing after what I have seen untill now).

What I did in the time that I could play:

- Configure the controls. Ubisoft seems to have trouble using a decent control configuration. It's something that I notice in most of their games before and they don't seem to learn how an action can be bound to 2 keys or 2 actions can be bound to a single key when they are contextual.

- Watched the admittedly crisp cutscenes, environment/models and suprising performance (everything on highest settings, 1080p, with an i5-4690 and gtx970 and I get a steady 60+fps).

- Shot some civilians because they don't seem to be able to keep on talking while you don't look at them or when you walk away a few meters. If you start talking they start their text again. I'm not just going to stand around to listen to what they have to say. As most people, while the NPC's are speaking you tend to walk around a bit, loot bodies for ammo, try to open that door which is just a texture, etc. Bullet to the head for annoying civilians.

- Wondered why, in 2018, a quicksave is not a thing in a AAA title. I want to quicksave, try something, quickload and continue. I do not want to try something, see that it doesn't work, and walk to where I was before to try something different. This is just a waste of time. Value your customers time, Ubisoft, and implement a quicksave option.

- Liberated the dudes' island. I got a little further than this when it crashed again and I gave up.

- Felt annoyed at the "escape in vehicle cutscene/railshooter". If you played for 15 minutes you know which one I am talking about. I've shot my driver out of boredom during that scene, so I had to go through it again. (once again, quicksave feature pls. It isn't very hard to do, it's been done since the 90's and in pretty much any type of game).

- Gotten frustrated at the controls a little more. Wondered about why the sensitivity of the binoculars scales weirdly, tried messing with some settings, kept feeling weird.

- Asked for a refund.

I dislike the unskippable cutscenes before bossfights and the somethimes rather clumsy controls when trying to pick up an item.

Other than that, the game looks great and the work that has been put into it really sticks out among the multitude of rushed and/or unpolished games that have been released lately.

Early Access Review
The game itself is fun, looks good and is entertaining. This being a negative recommendation is for the sole reason that connecting to a server is a hassle.

It's 2018 and it's been at least a decade since me and my friends have needed to go through such a hassle to get a server going. I'd expect it to just work, but it doesn't. Portforwarding, server not showing up in the browser, connecting only works through steam overlay (when the server host is in the game itself->join game) but not through the game itself. Also joining through someone else than the admin didn't work for us. Even though Admin has years of professional experience in fixing network issues, he couldn't get the server to show up online in the game.

So I see myself forced to give the game a negative, since playing with friends on your own server might prove to be an unsurmountable barrier to many players who have less experience with these things.

Not certain why a server can't be run through the game itself, as is the case in most modern titles that use native servers.

This game is great, but unfortunately dead.

I've played this when it there were still active players, and it was a great deal of fun! Too bad that it has fallen into the viscious circle that results in a continuesly diminishing playerbase.

It would be great if either the developer came up with a way of getting lots of players online at the same moment, or if someone would arrange for such a thing through reddit or so. Some kind of special event, big update with maps and new weapons/parts or a new kind of game mode. Just try to find a way to get like 1000 people online at the same time, and with a little luck the game will revive itself, devs!

I just hope a game like this dying doesn't result in other devs being more cautious of developing inovative mechanics!
