Glad to see they have returned to historic theme as opposed to the futuristic ones.

If you've already played Anno 1404 then you know what to expect with Anno 1800, as it is very similar in terms of gameplay.

Don't expect Factorio or you'll be disappointed. Also don't expect any spoon-feeding. Prepare to experiment a bit, to learn what certain things do and how it all works. Not that it's hard or anything, but judging by the reviews some people still seem to need a tutorial.

At first glance it does seem a bit overpriced (25 euro), though. I expect to find more complex mechanics past the early game, but I have no idea yet whether or not it will be worth that much.

Edit:
Not worth asking price.
Only buy in a (big) sale.
Also: No updates. What you see is literally what you will get.

Update: Paths are still broken in various ways. A wide selection of bugs related to staff not doing their job or simply getting stuck are still present. The online animal trading is still mandatory and giving a laggy, unresponsive experience. It's pretty, but I don't know whether it's enjoyable to play the actual game or not - I could not actually play the game yet without running into game-breaking bugs or experiencing frequent crashes.

Update 2: I can finally play the game without crashes and overwhelming amount of bugs.
There is, however, a lack of QoL that stands out so much that it slaps you in the face every time you end up in a menu that is totally not what it should be. e.g. Clicking your 'money' should obviously send you straight to the financials overview, but instead you are shown a window 1 - 2 clicks away from the finance window. There is a lack of a search box for the filter list, etc.
It's my favorite crappy game. I love the game but I hate that I love it :(
There is a ton of detail, a ton of options, a ton of props and freedom to build. But the focus seems to have been on quantity and not quality, and thus the game is frustrating to play because the imperfections overshadow the actual game. Com'on Frontier, I know you guys can do better than this...

It could be fun, but at least it's pretty!

Be aware that a lot of users are having issues resulting in crashes or corrupted saves.
Furthermore, be aware that the 'franchise' mode requires an internet connection and can be quite laggy from time to time.

Best to look in the discussions section in order to see whether or not most issues have been resolved.
[Edit: 10 months after release about half of the issues I have encountered are patched out and replaced by new ones. The other half is still present from day one. Most of them are game-breaking, so I haven't really been able to enjoy the game since launch. Time spent in-game is mostly spent creating new zoos and building all the basics, only to find out it is still a mess after unpausing.]

Great card variety, interesting enemies and a nice artstyle make this game fun. Various characters - which play very differently and have different sets of cards - and about 20 increasingly more difficult New Game + modes give it great replayability.

It's a different kind of automation game, one where you program bots to do what you're too lazy to do yourself.
Catch is that these bots have limited memory space, so they can only perform basic tasks - which leads to extended multi-robot production chains.

After 7.1 hours, I finished the tutorial once and started a new game where I finished automating my wood supplies and research. This is only the very first part of the game, so it promises a lot of playtime. The programming of your bots is also quite flexible and allows for much more tweaking than what first meets the eye.

Give it a try if you like production/management games.

The first few levels were seemingly a bit thin on content, but after a while the tech tree starts to open up and the possibilities start to shine through. If you like tower defence and you like factorio, chances are you'll enjoy this as well. If you're still not sure, buy it in a sale. But... For 5€ you can't really be dissapointed, even if you only enjoy it for a few hours.

Original setting for a survival game. Good story, beautiful handcrafted world.

Don't play it for the campaign. The rest of the game is much better, campaign doesn't do it justice.

I am a sucker for rogue-lites.

The low price (bought in sale for €3,74; full price €14,99) made me go in with low expectations. The gameplay shines in its simplicity: Kill and break stuff for XP. On lvl-up, you get to select a traith. After each death, you start over from scratch, although there are shortcuts to the last level you didn't finish so you can skip ahead at the cost of having less XP.

Every time you start a new run, you get offered 2 random weapons which you can exchange for your standard weapons. You can select different characters, each having their own pros and cons - e.g. higher movement speed but lower damage, slower but more health - and a different standard loadout. After each run, new weapons and power-ups unlock.

As for the levels: There is variation in the visual appearance of the levels. Additionally, the levels themselves also get progressively harder. Not only will there be more and different types of enemies, there will also be traps and obstacles in the environment itself.

A few tips to get you started: Breaking stuff both gives XP and drops power-ups and health. Different types of ammo loot supply ammo to either your primary weapons or your special power. There is also an ultimate which can be used after filling the bar, which is also done by killing and destroying the environment.

If you're into rogue-lites - or in general just looking for something to do - then give 'I Hate Running Backwards' a try. If you don't like it, you'll find out long before the 2-hour-refund limit ;)

Enjoyable both as hunter and as scavenger. Seems to be only a single map? Different skills and upgrades provide a decent amount of variation between various classes of hunters and scavengers.
