It's worth. I suspect many, if not the majority of the negative reviews are from people who never bother with settlement building beyond the barebones basics required to progress the main story.

But if you want the opinion of someone who does actually do a significant amount of settlement building, the DLC is good. I enjoy building my factory, and producing my own arms, armor, and ammo. Factory builder games have always been my favorite, and this DLC was a no brainer for me. It could 100% use improvements, but as a baseline it's really good.

Obviously, if you don't care about or like settlement building aspect of the game, you will not like this DLC. But if you do, it is good.

I struggle to find why people have reviewed this expansion so poorly. I assume these are older reviews at a time when Odyssey was bad. Many such cases.

Regardless, my tip to anyone who thinks this is too difficult to raid settlements, my advice is simple.

Get the suit with a laser cutter, rob settlements in secret, upgrade gear, go to warring systems and be a mercenary. I do high conflict zone ground battles exclusively, and while difficult, I make tens of millions of credits per fight. I've never made so much than I have in this game mode.

You call it a dangerous hellscape of death, where at any moment your life could be stripped from you by the ravenous wildlife that seek nothing more than to kill you.

I call it a target rich environment of which to fill out my Geneva Checklist

There currently exists a CTD (Crash to desktop) bug that occurs every time you destroy the fuel tank of a Tank or Harvester. This CTD renders the game practically unplayable, as simply avoiding these two bots is an unreasonable ask, given their loot is necessary to equipment progression, having some of the best equipment drops for early to mid game, as well as raising area threat level for every one killed.

Until this CTD is fixed, which seemingly has existed since June of 2019, I cannot in good faith recommend this game, due to its unplayability.

The controls are frustrating, unintuitive, confusing, and no amount of googling, forum searching, youtube video watching, or perusing about the controls menus seem to have any affect at all on my ability to get things to control properly. The barges simply do not work, they don't pick up any chassis or weapons, I can't connect islands like every video I find shows you can, the most important and powerful vehicles to be controlled by players, (IE, air vehicles) literally don't even work with keyboard, and the pacing of the game is painfully, agonizingly, horrendously slow. Every action, every movement, every basic act takes ages to complete, and its frustrating. After almost two hours, my friend and I captured 3 islands, lost 3 air vehicles due to nonfunctional controls that took googling to figure out was broken, and had our barge deliver one single load as I fought tooth and nail to figure out how to just make it pick up the Bear chassis I crafted an hour ago, and it refused.

This game is the epitome of making a mountain out of a mole hill in terms of controls, and nothing is intuitive. Half of my gameplay was spent alt tabbed looking for answers I couldn't even find. I am baffled this game is rated as highly as it is.

There are no performance updates, no optimizations, nothing when the game updates. All the happens is a new song pack of songs nobody knows or cares about gets added, and it completely eviscerates everyone's mods. The community and modding scene make this game worth playing, and yet despite that, the developers seem to be working overtime to fight their own playerbase at every turn by wiping out everyones modded songs, and then reintroducing those songs as DLC.

Not to mention, that the people making the "official" beatmaps do not even make these songs reasonably. I like Expert and Expert+ because I need the beatmap to be fast, my brain just works too quickly to do slow songs. And yet, some of the most unreasonable, senseless, and downright stupid beat placements are made with the sole intention of messing you up. Not to make it difficult, or to recognize a pattern, I mean a single one off move that is bound to mess you up because it does not make any level of sense at all with how the flow of the song should go. Just compare the legacy beat tracks to any of the new beat tracks on Expert+ and you will know exactly what I mean. Making senseless, stupid beat placements does not a difficult song make. Creating a satisfying pattern that takes time and effort to learn and master is what makes a high difficulty song great, and this is done excellently in the modding scene, which the developers are hell bent on destroying.

Simply put, the game is fun. But the developers seem to be going the route of Microsoft and Minecraft, where everything NEEDS to be monetized and "officially" licensed by the developers for sweet, sweet cash, and any community made content must be punished every time a new update is release. I would not be shocked if modders stopped trying anymore.

Non recommending for the pronouns. Good game, but I can't just accept the cultural rot. And it's a damn shame so many people do.

Much like any MOBA, the matchmaking system intentionally gives you unfair matches, with the sole intention of keeping you as close to a 50% win rate as possible. You almost never get fair and balanced matches. Simply put, as long as this system exists in any game, it is not worth playing.
