Edit: This company has gone woke as hell, and it's sad to see. Putting Burn Loot Murder's colors in with the "pride" colors. I am gay as hell, in a relationship with a man, but this is just woke pandering to a crowd of people that hate you, the casual gamer. The people who like this aren't the people who play Warframe, and as a gay dude, being lumped in with literal domestic terrorists is nasty.

Edit 2024: Company has gone even more woke, with an even longer acronym and the pedo pride flag colors. Game is worthless smh.

I still have high hopes for DayZ. Although time and time again, I see that DayZ doesn't change, I can see Bohemia's potential in the game, if they just put in a bit more effort into DayZ, as they have with Arma III. You guys got this, don't let up!

That being said, in it's current state, you don't want to buy DayZ. Instead, get Arma III and play the DayZ mod there, the game might cost a bit more, but the higher price tag allows Bohemia to put more money into DayZ.

A good game needs a few things depending on the Genre, this games genre obviously being horror.
A game needs:
Atmospheric effects that make the player feel uneasy [+]
An antigonist to counter the Player in their adventure [+]
A progressive difficulty, being a level based Horror game [+]
Something to make the player believe he is never safe [+]
And best of all: Something to make you jump out of your seat when it happens [+]

Five Nights At Freddy's is a classic. Only a few point and click defense games came before FNAF. I say defense because in order to not die, you need to use something to your advantage. Thus being doors. And while you have doors, you may never feel any more safe than if it was open because you kow if you keep it closed, the power will drain and you will get caught really quick.

10/10 Scott makes great laxitives. Keep it up man.

A very good DayZ downgrade. I don't understand the morons who say it is bad or a rip-off of Minecraft.

As much as I absolutely love this game, people have no creativity. All people create are boxes and fill the boxes up with nothing but guns, They litterally make a CUBE and put GUNS on it. The vehicles you see in the video are Game Testers, people who actually know what they're doing, wheras the people you are facing in the actual game, Well make nothing but boxes. Which is why I make the joke that this game is known as "Robox" (No, Not 'Roblox")

But all in all, I would say...

One of the best side scrolling experiences to have. Terraria is simple, yet complex. Hard, but not unreasonable. and certainly fair, without being generous. Would absolutely recommend to ANYONE with the need for adventure and exploration with the goal of winning.

Edit: I've been playing this game on and off for a few months, and I can honestly say that zergfits and the developers have ruined this game. An outfit of muslims called Renegade 18 has infested Emerald, the U.S east server and population dump on every single base. You cannot fight it, you cannot do anything against it. If you equal their population, they will just population dump more until the entire server population is in one base. I have heard from players on Connery that any time they would see Renegade 18 on, they would just stop playing because they're so toxic, and genuinely un-fun to play against. And the developers absolute refusal to buff the weakest faction, TR, and nerf the most powerful faction, VS makes it so nobody wants to play TR, and everyone wants to play VS, leading to one of the three factions being inhospitable to play. Seriously, avoid this game at all cost. It used to be a once great, amazing piece of art I would recommend to everyone I met but now I can't even look at it in my library without being pissed at how it was broken down. You missed the golden age, sorry. Don't bother.

I made this review in 2014, 8 years ago. But now for the first time since then I can't recommend playing. The developers are far too incapable of balancing the game properly, giving faction flavored weapons more benefits than others. Oshur was by far the worst continent added, where the gameplay is a vicious cycle of forcing you and your team to travel by Valk or Gal everywhere because there's no spawns.

Wrel is by far the most incompetent, ridiculous lead dev I've witnessed. I have been playing this game for years and years, nearly a decade soon, and I can genuinely and honestly say I despise most everything that's been done as of late. Oshur is horrible, the outfit resource distribution is god awful, the servers time and time again are NEVER stable post update, and even some days during prime time, despite the fact there was a PTS test to overload the servers, presumably to test the server's capabilities and fix them. Clearly that was a lie.

And WHY for any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason did the devs think that a 3-way KOTH based war needed CTF? CTF Bases are literally impossible to attack without at least 20% overpop, and removing the spawn on map feature for vehicles was a ridiculous, unnecessary change I can't imagine a single person asking for. Especially making Implants function off of a lootbox system, putting the most broken, overpowered, and disgustingly strong implants behind $85 paywalls (Infravision, Minor Cloak, Berserker) just show even more how predatory and uncaring DBG is. Especially because we shovel all of this money over to them, and the servers NEVER improve.

I seriously do not recommend this game anymore. It used to be absolutely amazing, and I enjoyed every moment of this game but as of late it's just so disrespectfully spitting in our faces at this point that I cannot in good faith recommend anyone play this dumpster fire. And you can thank Wrel and the rest of Daybreak for it all. Avoid this trash.

Edit 5/17/23: Another atrocious update ruins the game, as Oshur continues to remain in the game, now worse than before, and the construction system is now filled with even more things to spend real life money on, because they're unreasonably expensive in terms of certs. Don't bother getting into this trash heap.

Edit 12/23/24: Oh boy its been over a year already? Well we're back. Still negative, still don't bother on the game. Toxic zergfits treating the game like a real military plague the game, if you're a casual who's only interested in playing on and off on occasion, good luck. You will not find fun, you will find pain. The community is toxic as hell, and the game by in large remains unbalanced and broken. Vanu is still overpowered, Infiltrators still plague the game and make infantry engagements a nightmare, Vehicle Stealth and Flares are still allowed to be equipped together on ESFs. I do not recommend anyone play this game, it had it's chance and it's past it's prime. And Daybreak ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up.

I made this review back when I was just 13 years old. That's such a long, long time ago. I've had countless memories with this game, I was in love with Valve for this game. But now? I find it disgusting. I find it to be a stain on my library, because of Valve's reckless disregard for it. They've abandoned this game, there is little to find here. New players will be forced into a state where they cannot even call for medic because they have a "free account." They will never attempt to fix the bots, but they'll add new cosmetics to buy every christmas and halloween. They lied to your face when the responded to #savetf2, and ghosted everyone again.

This game has changed, for the worst. Valve's complete silence tells me that they not only don't care about their game, but the community, especially with a tease like their twitter response, only to nosedive right back into ghosting us. Especially with the rampant bot problem that persists, and now Valve taking down community fan projects using assets they don't bother to use.

I've given up on Valve. I have no faith in them. They will let this game die. It was bound to happen eventually.

2/15/25: You know why this review was updated. I am sure you saw the big bad meanie man made a 4 hour video lambasting Valve and the state of TF2. I have absolutely no intention, not have had any intention to play TF2 again after the butchered state it was put in and left in to rot for almost a decade. And yet I still regularly see people, youtubers specifically, with millions of views per video constantly praising this game. The toxic positivity is disgusting, the constant silencing and attacking of people calling out Valve for their willful destruction and pilfering of this game for profit and power to manipulate you is one of the most offputting and disgraceful things I have ever seen.

The Team Fortress 2 community should be a psychological case study of the effects of mass hysterical stockholm syndrome for large swaths of a population. I swear the amount of people I have seen give Valve a pass for everything they have done is not just ground-breaking, but earthsplitting in terms of social science just for the sheer fact that this game seems to be a toxically positive cognitohazard. It's like people who love the game just cannot accept, or that the possibility of a problem existing is entirely outside the realm of possibility.

Seriously, anyone in majoring or hired in the study of psychology go to the TF2 subreddit and TFtuber sphere and begin there. You will witness shilling, bargaining, acceptance, and dismissing the likes have never been seen anywhere else. I would call it shameful and depressing, if it weren't such a fascinating phenomenon to bare witness to.
