Coggernaut is working to make it a component of an even larger mod, but he's got a team, so that mod is coming along well. I may be finally coming into more free time soon and MAY get an update going if I run out of honeydo projects.
tredavidson77 20 May @ 2:15am
Has anyone had their hand at a successor mod?
Andromeda 20 May @ 2:10am
oof. At least 1.9.1 Pre-ftl players is still kicking about somehow!
Pode  [author] 19 May @ 5:30pm
I wasn't great about version control and keeping backups, so the 2.0 is probably the only published version that still exists.
Coggernaut 19 May @ 11:32am
E&C Classic has some primitive player mechanics working on 4.0 if you play as Broken Shackle Origin, Payback Origin, or Eager Explorers
Coggernaut 19 May @ 11:31am
I'm unsure if it would work, but you can try
Andromeda 19 May @ 10:18am
Say, you got a 1.9.1 version of this kicking about? Or does this still work with 1.9.1 despite being updated to 2.0?
Coggernaut 30 Mar @ 12:41am
@LTylercc

In spirit, yes. However it will have many mechanics to keep you entertained and occupied with things to do an nations to do politics with
LTylercc 29 Mar @ 9:18pm
@Coggernaut Can't really find much info in your mod about it. Does it work pretty much the same as the original?
Alaya 1 Feb @ 6:26am
ohhh.. okay thanks that explains everything.
Coggernaut 31 Jan @ 11:34pm
Eager Explorers update is live, it plays more primitive now. However, feedback is appreciated for it. Like if we want to add more tech that'll keep it primitive longer
Pode  [author] 31 Jan @ 7:03pm
Yeah the 2.0 is the game version, not the mod version, so definitely not working. Coggernaut is working on updating this for modern Stellaris as a civic option in his Ethics and Civics mod.
Alaya 31 Jan @ 3:09pm
not working sadly..
HolyFarglesnot 25 Jan @ 1:53am
This sounds sexy as hell! I'm 100% down!

Adding New Origins & Tech Tree Expansion (For Primitive):
- Pre-Industrial Age Origin
- Industrial Age Origin
- Machine Age Origin
- Atomic Age Origin
- Early Space Age Origin

New "Through the Ages" Situation
Finishing Situation grants specific origins based on decisions made. Not all origins will be available, only those that have been developed will. You will always be able to get the origin you want if you succeed at challenges. Challenges can be balanced by player feedback

Primitive Origins give +2 to civic capacity. Allowing you to gain more civics than normal empires. Likewise you will likely end up with a blend of several origins as in maybe a geo-species pops up with asteroid-colonizer.

Empire contacts "Nations" will be available that represent each fanatic-ethic in E&C:
- Negotiate diplomacy (War, Merger, Nuclear Strike, etc)
- Ground-Invasions from "other nations"
- Advanced Empire NPCs may interact with you
- Play your Origin in a way never experienced. Literally.
Coggernaut 24 Jan @ 6:15pm
Much progress has been made, but it's not quite release-ready. However, much of the starter-tech (I think over ~50 primitive tech tree items) can be found in E&C.

Additionally on next update of E&C (pending release soon) will overhaul the Vanilla Primitive Starts (Payback/Broken Shackles/Eager Explorers) have the new "Through the Ages" situation which is the background mechanic for primitive players. We can also adjust how much tech they start with via player feedback (which will prolong how long they stay primitive)

Still have much to do but a great deal of work has been accomplished thus far!

But mechanics for transition from primitive jobs / buildings to FTL-Age industry is done. I still need to finish planet-uniting mechanics which include uniting all the nations of the world under one rule through a series of events, wars, or nuclear strikes.

The scope-creep was strong with this one, but I'd say it's 75% done. We just need to overhaul Gestalts before we can be done.

Coggernaut is working hard on rolling it into his Ethics and Civics mod
Khuzaku 24 Jan @ 1:20pm
i've waited so long for this
Coggernaut 14 Oct, 2024 @ 6:50pm
Thank you Pode, I will take this idea you started and carry it forward. I'll invite you to the discord so we can collaborate! I love the spirit of this mod's idea. It may evolve overtime, but it's core idea, Primitive Players, will live on for future gamers to experience that same joy we did 6 years ago.

I can't wait to spend decades colonizing space without FTLs and that rush to the FLT-tech. I'll even make a prescripted empire in the space-age. Heck, we should have an Origin for each stage of primitive society... oh boy. The gears are turning and I'm stoked! :steamhappy:

I created a channel for this origin: https://discord.gg/3pcA2BkX

Pode  [author] 14 Oct, 2024 @ 6:01pm
By all means, you and anyone else is more than welcome to take what's here and run with it, a hat tip and the chance to download your creation is all I ask.
Coggernaut 14 Oct, 2024 @ 12:49pm
Hello Pode, long time no see :)

Your mod was always a favorite of mine and was the best mod for the ultimate "through the ages" stellaris experience.

I was wondering the feasibility of making this mod an origin. If you're okay with it, may I update this mod and integrate it into Ethics and Civics classic?

Both being overhaul mods, integrating them in one mod would remove any potential conflicts. I will also isolate the code so it's easy to pick out and update the standalone

As expected, I would give credit on the workshop page, linking to the original mod and authors profile's.

I hope everything has been going well for you over the years! :steamhappy:
NotEnoughLigh_t1 21 Sep, 2024 @ 5:17pm
wish this was updated to the latest
tredavidson77 13 Jul, 2024 @ 9:50pm
Has anyone thought up of a mod to work as a successor to this one?
tilarium 2 Apr, 2024 @ 11:11am
Granted, it's a newer version to what the mod is currently for, but why update to an old version of the game and not the most current one?
Pode  [author] 2 Apr, 2024 @ 11:09am
Not anytime soon
ColdSpaCe7 2 Apr, 2024 @ 10:48am
is it getting updated for 3.1?
Pode  [author] 2 Apr, 2024 @ 9:59am
To be fair it's not clear that that's game version not mod version, but yeah, the mod is as old as its author feels.
tilarium 2 Apr, 2024 @ 4:48am
First thing in the description and even in the title of the mod. 2.0
ColdSpaCe7 2 Apr, 2024 @ 1:42am
what versions does it work on?
Pode  [author] 1 Apr, 2024 @ 4:00pm
One day, but not soon.
ColdSpaCe7 1 Apr, 2024 @ 11:03am
update please?
Fell Mor 6 Mar, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Sorry to hear! But at the same time, I would love to see this mod revisited...
Pode  [author] 6 Mar, 2024 @ 11:13am
Ever is a long time. But it's already been a long time. I dunno when the space 4x bug is gonna bite me again. I've been in Kenshi, Mechwarrior, and BattleTech for a while now. Friend and her toddler are moving out soon, so I may turn to modding as my coping mechanism for missing them.
Fell Mor 6 Mar, 2024 @ 10:53am
will we ever see a re-creation of this mod? or does anyone know of a recreation?
HolyFarglesnot 12 Dec, 2023 @ 4:05pm
Of course it doesn't work. It's built on a completely different version of the game, everything has changed dozens of times since then.
ColdSpaCe7 12 Dec, 2023 @ 9:37am
no it does not, made my game crash
ColdSpaCe7 12 Dec, 2023 @ 9:33am
so it won't work with 3.0?
Pode  [author] 8 Dec, 2023 @ 2:10pm
2.0 was the game version it worked with not the mod version. Maybe one day
StoutCrow 7 Dec, 2023 @ 5:06pm
Does this work with the newest version?
Pode  [author] 29 Nov, 2023 @ 3:02pm
@Zoey I do like almost all of the game mechanical changes RT makes, and very much want the RT 3025 start with primitive and intro tech only. I bounced off it hard tho when my first mission against a independent periphery government as far as posible to get from Clan space deployed a Clan tech refit Urbie against me. I can't play anymore without BEX's spawns based on the faction canon TO&Es adjusted by game date. So I made a horrible buggy mess of BEX with about half of RT's submods bolted onto it. Which is why I still haven't finished the story even now 6 years after being a kickstarter beta backer. I swear at this rate I'm gonna be modding and playing 30 year old games in the nursing home.
Zoey 29 Nov, 2023 @ 4:07am
@Pode I highly recommend roguetech for battletech, and ive got a hunch you would like their "primitive tanks" start
Maschinenmensch 18 Nov, 2023 @ 1:17pm
Nice
Pode  [author] 29 Apr, 2023 @ 8:02pm
Thanks. One day the space 4x bug will bite me again and I'll get this adapted to the new Pops system
uogamer79 29 Apr, 2023 @ 3:43pm
Ah okay yep that explains it lol. Mannnnn I really wanted to do a mod like this since the concept is really awesome
Pode  [author] 29 Apr, 2023 @ 8:34am
2.0 is the game version number, not the mod version. Not surprised it CTDs. It's been years since I updated.
uogamer79 28 Apr, 2023 @ 6:37am
This mod's broke for me. I made a playset consisting of this mod alone, still ctd's.
Just Bird. 27 Apr, 2023 @ 6:12am
Looks like something to keep an eye open for.
riz_dre 12 Apr, 2023 @ 4:26pm
Even if it's months I'll still wait for you @Pode. Been subscribed since 2017/18 and been checking since. So can wait another few months if you feel like picking up this mode again. I think it was a great idea and I loved where you were going with it and tbh nothing like this has been attempted since, at least from what I know. I loved starting as primitive using your mode together with slower than light mode and another one I can't recall that was splitting solar system into factions. It was basically like playing expanse tv series before getting into bigger Stellaris gameplay
Grimheart 30 Mar, 2023 @ 5:19pm
Thanks again
