Since non-nvg stealthy night-time missions in arma tend to be pretty frustrating due to how easily the AI can react to and shoot at targets in pitch darkness, this mod balances the game nicely IMO. It does increase the AI spotting capability as well, since it's tied to illumination levels, but that's probably an acceptable trade-off, especially for missions where NVG or flare zeus / scripts can't be used.

Heads up, if you're using this mod on Chernarus Redux you need to add

missionNamespace setVariable ["CHR_DisableDarkness",true,false];

to the init.sqf of your mission for the mod to work. Reason being the CHR_DisableDarkness uses the setaperture command and wants to keep it all for itself.

Kudos, excellent.
Take all my 7.7x58mm, sir.

This is just what the game needs for making the nights a touch more realistic instead of perpetually pitch black. Still works without an issue!

I don't recommend anyone to use this mod with any AI mod, because this mod does increase the AI's visual range. I checked it dozens of times, and I was surprised by this.

There is not a single word about AI in the description, the author did not bother to describe it, Maybe he didn't understand it. I had to do many tests disabling each of my mods in order to find the reason why my AI is sees at night without NVG like a real terminator.

The my personal result is this mod will break detection ranges in LAMBS AI mod, probably in other AI mods as well, will break any scenario, where there are soldiers without NVG in deep night.

I'm also using Development Tools from Zeus Enhanced

I know this is a bit late reply but to add more to what I said previously, yes this mod works and you need to write to the Console like this " CHBN_adjustBrightness=1 " you can scalar it between 0-1. Don't write with " on.However this mod's been made in 2017 and didn't recieved no more further updates. So there's been a lightning mechanical change happened and this mod also effected. You probably won't see the difference in Clear weather at night with Full Moon. However you'll see this mod still works after you change the weather to cloudy,rainy,snowy,stormy... this mod is a life saver and I defo suggest y'all to use it.

You can run the code in debug console which you can get when you press ESC. If that doesn't show up, you can try it with Zeus. If you really need that for like Multiplayer, install Zeus mods such as Achilles and Zeus Enhanced.

You might want to check the mod again, I can't seem to get it to work even though I followed what you typed in.
Haruko 2 Oct, 2019 @ 12:14pm
is there a way to have it enabled by default without needing to write it in the console all the time

It is a very bad decision to make a per-frame loop with a waituntil loop :) Just use the
CBA_fnc_waitUntilAndExecute instead - or CBA_fnc_addPerFrameHandler if you want to check the condition constantly (I doubt it is needed, until you want to change it on-fly).

I don't normally rate any mods, but holy cr@p! I know this was probably easy to fix but none the less it's a great mod. Bravo. Now though, to go :dustpan: arma and make it look better again.

This is a MUST HAVE fix to broken lighting introduced in the visual update that came out with APEX. I can't believe I just now have become aware of it.
