Hey Ofaloaf, it seems none of your portrait mods work anymore. For me, at least, the portraits don't even show up for me to pick them.

This still working?
barricadedpurifier 22 Sep, 2022 @ 9:10pm
not to bother but the new update 3.5 changed the way portraits work and it won't let me customize the hair.

Whats the chance that AI primitives spawn with these portraits of yours? It could actually be pretty immerisve IMO, if I find them around the renaissance/steam/industrial/machine age anyway.

Will you update any of your other standalone portrait mods?
Ofaloaf  [author] 23 Mar, 2020 @ 10:42am
Ha ha I actually updated the mod

Could you add this uniform to the portrait set please? It fits more with the period described in the mod of the Span-Am war. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/Gen_John_Bates.jpg

Upvoted!
But btw:

I searched for it but I couldnt find any mod which adds the confederate flag of the CSA (speaking of the southern cross like the Second Confederate Navy Jack)

Maybe its your job! Pls?^^

I am sure there some guys outthere who want to defend their right to enslave those aliens!
(Just joking but srsly that flag just looks so cool)

Also I think some Star Craft players would appriciate it as the Southern Cross was also the insignia of the "Terran Confederacy" from Star Craft One before the player crushed it and caused the "Terran Dominion"

Temp fix for a weird overwrite bug- I've moved the American portraits into an 'American' portrait category, separate from 'humanoid'.
galandragon 11 Oct, 2016 @ 6:23pm
That is actually a pretty interesting creative process, I was curious as to how you made oil paintings into stellaris portraits lol. As for the soviet paintings, I´ve seen some paintings of marshals like this:http://www.myartprints.co.uk/kunst/vassily_nikolayevich_yakovlev/266175_portrait_of_the_marshal_of_the_hi.jpg But other than that its really hard to find oil paintings.

I've considered it, but it's real tricky getting the source material. I'm not much of an artist; lasso select and the delete key are my two most-used tools in all these things. Almost all these clothes are taken from high-resolution portrait oil paintings of people in the exact same poses that characters in Stellaris use, and I just chopped off everything except for the clothes, resized them, and slapped the into the mod. The most work I did for this set was the generals' clothes, which are from a photo of Teddy Roosevelt in his Rough Riders uniform that I then repeatedly chopped up, distorted and recolorized.

Basically, I only do a clothes set when I find enough portrait paintings that pass the bar of 'very high-resolution' and 'close enough to Stellaris' three-quarters pose that I don't have to mess with it much'. I've actually looked into doing a Soviet set, and surprisingly enough there aren't a lot of bourgeois portrait oil paintings of Bolsheviks for me to work with!

I love your mods man, really cool work! Do you have plans for more human portraits, like Soviet uniforms with peaked hats or imperial russians with fancy coats?
Mole 4 Oct, 2016 @ 1:51pm
My empire is a little eccentric, I run a few clothing mods that all work together, but I can see how it could be jarring for others. Ah well.
Ofaloaf  [author] 4 Oct, 2016 @ 12:42pm
No, the overwrite version replaces the base game's clothes and some hair. I mean, I /guess/ I could add them alongside the vanilla clothes, but they'd stick out like a sore thumb. The art styles aren't quite the same, and alternating between futuristic admirals with man-buns and some guy in Ulysses Grant's clothes would surely cause whiplash.
Mole 4 Oct, 2016 @ 12:39pm
@Ofaloaf, not quite. Rather than overwriting the default human files, I'm wondering if there's a way to allow these portaits to appear alongside the default ones. If the overwrite version you mentioned does just that I apologize and I'll try that one.
Ofaloaf  [author] 4 Oct, 2016 @ 3:15am
@Mole, there's another mod in my Hail Columbia collection which uses pretty much the same clothes as this and just overwrites the human files. Is that what you're looking for?
Mole 3 Oct, 2016 @ 6:28pm
Great mod, any way to add these portaits into the regular pool?

Anyway, thanks. I love it that your moving towards standalone portrait packs. More and more variety is always good :)
Death of Rats 1 Oct, 2016 @ 1:45am
Notepad++ :)

I have fixed some problems like that before where I've found mistakes... but this is more tricky. It doesn't seem to effect pops or leaders. The only places where this glitch appears often are on the fellow on the 'begin' popup at the start of the game and on the global species tab.

...

...

Ha... thanks... I think I found it and I don't know how I missed it originally :D:

I wasn't sure exactly what field I'd fumbled to cause that effect but it looks like it was species. Guess I learned something new :)

Sounds like a file isn't loading right. The first thing I'd check is whether all hair entries in the modded files actually exist (because if an entry refers to a spot that isn't there, the game will do weird things) and that all quotation marks and other parts of file formatting are all actually there. Are you using regular notepad for text editing, or something like notepad++ or sublime?
Death of Rats 30 Sep, 2016 @ 4:18am
@Ofaloaf Everytime I mess around with hairstyles, I get instances of deformed hair appearing on the opposite sex. Do you know why? Sorry if this is unrelated to the mod, but you seem to have more portrait modding experience than anyone else :KneelingBow:.
