Can you make a Palace of the Soviets?

I REALLY like this... in my opinion, exactly what the Soviet People's Revolutionary Committee on Socialist Architecture and Cultural Progression would order...

to osarak63 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalinist_architecture and btw communism is the most progressive movement - see Star Trek ;)

it's Antonio Sant'Elia's plan!

For a Soviet City Hall, this is too Art Deco for Soviet standards. The Soviets would never approve such a grandiose looking building like this one in their era because in their minds, it is too "bourgeois" and bombastic. They would rather stick with ugly, Brutalist structures that suit their way of living because of Communism.

I'm not intending to be political. Just pointing certain things out.

this is the communist version of a cathedral

Nice model, but this looks nothing like a city hall. this looks like something the Combine would build in HL2. 3/10 would not recommend.

@RadicalEdward2 Don't worry about that, upvoting if you like the assets helps a lot aswell! ^^

I wouldn't go as far as to buy the DLC though because there's awesome stuff like this in workshop. If I wasn't broke, I'd donate!

@RadicalEdward2 It's a gorgeous style, yes. Expect more buildings like this in the future :)

Oh don't worry. I've been subbing to your stuff lol
I'm obsessed with the Italian Futurist movement and all stuff influenced by it.

@RadicalEdward2 If you like Futuristic style megastructures check my workshop. If you are into skyscrapers, I have a few in that style. The collection of buildings with romantic era composers names. I prefer to call that style "Utopic Art Deco" or "White Marble Deco". They are pretty Decopunk :)
RadicalEdward2 8 Nov, 2016 @ 12:35pm
Yeah it is pretty big but, at the same time, I feel like most of Sant Elia's stuff had a very 'go big or go home' feel lol
Sure it would probably have to be downscaled a little bit but, more Futuristic style megastructures don't hurt either.

I must look how to do it, if you look the drawing, is pretty big. Maybe some kind of adaptation...

I know the version from the drawing intended to have trams or trains encorporated into them. The diagonal parts were supposed to function as vertical platforms for rail cars.

@RadicalEdward2 Thanks! I think this can be a good use to a building like that. Maybe I make another version of this, but as a train station.
RadicalEdward2 8 Nov, 2016 @ 11:13am
I love the rendition of the Tram Station. I would love to see a version that actually takes trains and trams.

@The Pyrobear Thanks! The Palace of the Soviets is a long term work I want to do someday :)

Great stuff!
TBH when I read the title, I thought that you made this one:

@pauliaxz Thanks! I don't usually put dirt or details in this kind of buildings, it's rationalism, the lack of ornaments is a requirement. Also, this building is based on Sant'Elia designs, he didn't put any more detail in those parts. And it's not white, they are all big marble bricks, maybe a darker LUT can show the texture.
I'm happy you like it! :)
PALiX 21 Sep, 2016 @ 11:22am
Model is looking great and showing superiority and brutality. One thing I would like to criticise: white parts could receive some worn-out details or something similar but not too much not overkill. Something that wouldn't make it look so bright plain white. but other than that really nice work.
P.S I hope I won't be sent to GULAG for questioning glorious masterwork soviet architecture quality and overall look. ;D
