@MrMiyagi thats awesome! thanks a lot!
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 7. mar. 2023 kl. 5:48
Hey @far, yes I noticed that, too. :lunar2020thinkingtiger: The reason it changes has to do with rendering, but I think it could be remedied with a different grass texture (meaning I'm not sure, but I think part of the reason is my grass texture - its colors turn into a grid pattern after a specific zoom). I'll try to get a moment to see what I can do - hopefully one of my newer grass textures will solve it and then I can update so you can enjoy a better view.

yo my grass texture is looking like a grid when i zoom out... do you have an idea how to fix that?
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 7. jan. 2023 kl. 13:14
The game freezes if you are 1) using mods that are out of date or conflict, or 2) if you are using too much RAM. Use the latest Loading Screen Mod to monitor your RAM usage.
!amborghIn! 5. jan. 2023 kl. 18:26
Its not working,game freezes
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 27. okt. 2022 kl. 8:15
Hi, you must have something else going on like trying to load too much custom content (subscribed items). Use Loading Screen Mod to find out how much RAM you are trying to load into the game. If it goes into the red, you're using too much. Force quit and then start unsubscribing from things you don't absolutely want to use.
prh1 24. okt. 2022 kl. 11:57
great theme to create beautiful maps, but i can't play them, it's loading for hours, without an result :(
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 22. sep. 2022 kl. 10:28
I have good news for you! You need the mod Environment Changer by BloodyPenguin. All it does is flip a switch so you can use any map theme in any environment, and also you can *change* any environment that you already have, like a save game from tropical to temperate! Awesome and safe to use mod. Have fun!

Can we get a non European version of this theme please?
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 2. sep. 2022 kl. 6:22
Hey there! I answered you on your pictures. :)
OneCasualBoi 29. aug. 2022 kl. 18:02
I am having significant issues with this theme, and can't pinpoint what the problem is. Using no LUT + this theme on Valhala, I am having what appears to be all sorts of artificating on the ground, plus very odd colors for certain resources. Water appears green, fertile ground is bright green.

To make sure it wasn't some sort of mod conflict, I disabled Render It / Play It / Theme Mixer 2, and these problems still persist:
- https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2856122638

I'm coming back after some time away, and used to use Relight + Ultimate Eye Candy and have switched, but I'm not noticing this with other themes.

Any insight?

Thanks!

Not broken. Literally impossible to be broken. I can only guess at what's going on, though, since I need details of what you're looking at.

The theme is for European biomes so it won't show up as an option unless you're trying to load a European map or save. This is something about the game we cannot change *normally*, but thanks to modders you can use the mods Theme Mixer and Environment Changer and use this in non-European cities / maps.

If that doesn't clarify what's going on, please tell me what problems are you having so I can help
Rapunen 25. feb. 2022 kl. 2:08
Its broken

Thanks @TheBigQ57! I'm glad they gave you a nice place to build your cities. :hardhat::steamhappy:
TheBigQ57 22. okt. 2021 kl. 22:26
Another beautiful map MrM. In my early days on C:S your Vanilla maps were a godsend. And now I have this beauty.
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 18. okt. 2021 kl. 13:16
This is a European biome based theme, so the default lighting is *horrible* (very, very dark). This theme plus the Daylight Classic mod balance it out and give you a nice *normal* looking city.

DC used to be a required item on this theme, but there are other more complex ways you can go about it, so I removed it from being required, since it really isn't.

Also check out some color correction LUTs. Reaper makes great LUTs for this theme. Hope this brings you a nice environment!
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 18. okt. 2021 kl. 13:12
Hi @chrisschippers.cs, see the images above - there are a few that explain what to do in that case. Daylight Classic, a very safe mod, will be your new friend. You'll never play without it again :D
Nigbob 18. okt. 2021 kl. 12:13
is it just me or is my map overlighted
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 8. maj 2021 kl. 7:22
Hi @kglarsen1984. If you want to add snow to your landscape with this theme, use Extra Landscaping Tools Mod and paint the Oil resource wherever you want snow to be. There are other map themes that have snow via painting sand (instead of oil).

With these map themes, in order to make snow, we map theme makers have to pick one of the paintable elements of the game that have their own texture. This means we have to choose between sand, oil, and ore.

Hope this helps
kglarsen1984 8. maj 2021 kl. 2:08
How do I add the snow to my mountain peaks? I can't find it anywhere. (Don't know where to look)
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 20. aug. 2020 kl. 7:23
Cool! That's another way. :)
ALIEN CAT 19. aug. 2020 kl. 12:28
it's ok i just replaced the textures with something else using the theme editor
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 19. aug. 2020 kl. 10:45
There isn't one, sorry :/. You can use the Theme Mixer Mod by TPB, which allows you to choose textures from different themes (so you'd replace the oil in this theme with the oil texture from another) although you'll need to be sure you're not exceeding your RAM by using more than one map theme.
ALIEN CAT 15. aug. 2020 kl. 3:04
Is there a version without snow? because I need regular oil, ore & sand textures on ground.

MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 31. juli 2020 kl. 4:37
Hi @matias_64, you likely have the Theme Mixer mod by TPB activated, right? In that mod you'll have to make sure that this theme's oil texture is selected and not another.
In order to make map themes for you all who don't have Snowfall, we have to pick one of the textures that overlays all the others to look like snow. This means ore, oil or sand will have to be used. In this map theme, I picked oil, because well... there isn't oil in the Alps :D. My other non-Snowfall map themes with snowy peaks like Glacier Fjord use sand as snow.
On this map, there will of course be oil resources on top of the peaks, but they are not meant to be used. They just serves as the snow decoration.
matias_64 23. juli 2020 kl. 8:53
Hi MrMiyagi, i have a problem. I cant see snow, instead is all oil. What could be the problem?
maxpower 21. maj 2020 kl. 0:59
Hi MyMiyagi. This is super(b)! Thank you kindly :)
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 18. maj 2020 kl. 7:38
Hi, yes, there's lots of oil on the Fjordland maps. There's actually a map theme that was made especially for Fjordland, where the sand is white instead of the oil. https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1774582619

For "Fjordland almost vanilla no DLC", I removed the snow, so if you want to put the snow back, all you need to do is paint the top of the mountains with sand, and it will look like snow. ;)
maxpower 18. maj 2020 kl. 1:57
I want to use this theme on other maps but because the oil is painted white, it doesn't look in place. Is it possible to publish this theme without oil being white?
One of the maps I want to use it for is Fjordland almost vanilla no DLC.
pcmf2017 28. dec. 2019 kl. 6:43
@MrMiyagi Thanks so much, now it works with the formula of loading the map as a savegame, Excellent!
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 28. dec. 2019 kl. 4:31
Hi! I just found this out. It's a new bug, different from the one I knew about. Here's what the devs say: "We are working on this, but unfortunately there's no estimate how long it takes at the moment. However there is a workaround since the themes are all there but New game window does not display the correct name or the correct amount of themes. If you have only one custom theme of each type enabled you'll know which theme is actually selected even with the incorrect name that is displayed on the New game window. Sorry for the inconvenience!"
Here is a very simple workaround: "solution: new game, play a minute, save, quit and restart game. Then, when loading, you can choose the theme map."
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2019 kl. 18:57
Oh, be sure the map you're picking is a European based map. This theme is for the European environment.
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2019 kl. 18:56
Hi, this is a common and easily solved bug :) Before starting a new game or loading up a save, if the theme is missing from the selection (and you get the missing custom theme "error" message), simply click on another save or starting map, then click back on this map (or your save to be loaded), and poof! the theme that was supposed to show up is there, and you don't get the error message, either.:steamhappy:
pcmf2017 27. dec. 2019 kl. 17:53
The theme is not available when selecting themes in new game. I was able though to load the theme with your Austria Map (gorgeous, great job!) on the map editor, but still can't do it for a new game. Any ideas how to solve that? Thanks!
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 5. juli 2019 kl. 4:13
It's not possible for that to happen (checked it on another computer, all is okay), but I have an idea as to what you're experiencing. Let's do a test to diagnose it that also won't make you wait all day for the game to load.
1) *From the desktop* (important!), start Cities
2) Click Options, Graphics, set Textures to High (wait a few...)
3) Click Editors instead of Load Game, then Theme Editor, then Load this Alps Dolomites
4) Take some screenshots, especially of the part that doesn't look right to you, my guess is cliffs - they were horrid before :D
Share screenshots with me here, and tell me any LUTs and graphics mods like Relight you are using.
Robotica 4. juli 2019 kl. 15:55
I'm also getting the old version. Ruins the map entirely.
Luca Fiorini 24. juni 2019 kl. 5:12
I am having an issue... I am getting the old version of the theme for some odd reason, and even if I try to resubscribe it won't change....
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 7. maj 2019 kl. 0:59
Hi, probably because you're on the map theme page, not the map's page :D Not a problem, glad to help out.. Stay signed up to this item, the map theme, then subscribe to

* this tree https://sp.zhabite.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=537436535 :

* and this tree https://sp.zhabite.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=704607028

* then the map itself https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=714924954

Four items is all you need :) If anything additional is required for an item on the workshop, it will be linked to the right of the page. You will see that on the map page for example. Do it in this order^^ and you will see three items with check marks on the map page.Happy building!
SospacedouT 6. maj 2019 kl. 17:24
i really want to build on this map, but it's not showing up in the map selection.
Overlord 28. okt. 2018 kl. 8:19
Ok thanks. I wish I could have some tool/mod to take my favourite themes and combine them into one theme I like to save some RAM. Right I'm using combo of Cedar Valley, Springwood and Seychelles theme. And because some of the textures I dont like I have to use the theme mixer. Which is little bit unfortunate :/ Because it seems that I have 3 high quality themes loaded.
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 28. okt. 2018 kl. 5:09
Hi Overlord. I have your answer. First, Colossal Order states that 4K textures are not recommended for this game. Honestly, it's not a good idea according to them.
When it comes to 2K, you don't need every texture to be 2K to make it look really nice. I use 2K for the textures that have the most impact if they aren't 2K, like the cliff texture for a theme like this. This theme is intended to be for a landscape where mountains with a lot of exposed rock. Tiling of a 1024 is either too blurry or looks like a tablecloth :D. 2K gives the mountains a huge difference in quality and only a little boost above recommended. Most other textures don't make much of a difference in visual quality if they are 1024, like grass, pavement, oil, ore... It's all dependent on what texture you choose, though. Check out some of Avanya's map themes. She does this really well (I learned a lot from her)
Overlord 28. okt. 2018 kl. 4:31
How detailed these textures are? I'm used to 4K or 2k theme packs. 4K packs are about 150MB the 2K are about 70mb. This has 32MB and from screenshots it looks really good. So how is that possible? Also is it overkill to use 4K or 2K textures on FHD resolution? Thanks for the answer.
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 3. okt. 2018 kl. 9:28
Yup, you can get BloodyPenguin's Environment Changer mod. On the load screen select Temperate instead of European. Or, you can also just turn off European style on the Content Manager, "themes" tab.
RhodiePuppy 25. sep. 2018 kl. 9:20
Is there a way to change the base theme so have american buildings or do they have to be european buildings?
Luca Fiorini 15. sep. 2018 kl. 2:24
man why i have the olf textures even if i just downloaded the theme
?
MrMiyagi  [ophavsmand] 14. juni 2018 kl. 9:55
LOL It happens to me all the time. For me there are too many cool trees and buildings!! Tip: you can help your computer by disabling anything you are not currently using. It helps to disable all themes, save games, etc that you are not currently using. The game loads a lot of stuff that you really don't want loaded. ;)
