Mod is outdated.

Was just wondering if I might use your assets in a future update of my Advanced Sol mod? I absolutely love the images and planet textures you came up with. I would give you full credit on my page and a link back. Let me know. My mod is here:

I'm sorry to hear that! If you can pinpoint any extra info that will be great. Thanks!

Yihaaa thank you so very much ;)
Greatexperiment  [author] 1 Jul, 2016 @ 11:21pm
It softens my old heart to hear that. I'll keep this mod going just for you!

Anyway, it should be updated now. Cheers!
Gretschory 30 Jun, 2016 @ 11:40pm
You kidding right? :D One of my favoourite mods so far ;)
Greatexperiment  [author] 30 Jun, 2016 @ 6:24pm
Wait, people use this mod? Aw.

I'll update it tomorrow!
Gretschory 30 Jun, 2016 @ 6:04pm
Update plans for 1.2.1? ;)
Lord Threesome 26 May, 2016 @ 1:33am
It does seem to be fixed now! Unfortunately my save file seems unaffected, but playtested galaxies after that look normal. Great work!

It should be fixed now.
Lord Threesome 24 May, 2016 @ 12:13pm
No problem! Thanks for the great mod :-)
Greatexperiment  [author] 24 May, 2016 @ 12:04pm
Okay. Thanks for the info! I'll try to get that sorted for the next version.
Lord Threesome 24 May, 2016 @ 12:01pm
Terrain Tiles on desert planets show the text
silv_pc_mars_file_desc
and instead of "Desert World" it just says Mars in the Outliner.
Other than this issue, the mod works well and the solar system is beautifully detailed :-)
Greatexperiment  [author] 24 May, 2016 @ 9:22am
Whoah, that does sound weird. Also not sure how that would happen.

The only way to add specific descriptions to each planet was to make every single one have its own unique class. That means desert planets and mars don't share anything except the base 3D sphere at this point. They are different classes with their own text. Furthermore, this mod doesn't change any of the original files, classes, or assets.

I'll definitely look into it, but I honestly have no idea how that's even possible.
Lord Threesome 24 May, 2016 @ 7:35am
Basically, it turns EVERY desert planet into Mars :-D
Lord Threesome 24 May, 2016 @ 7:19am
Desert Planet tiles get the wrong descriptions - possibly because of Mars? Other than this, I like this mod and salute your work :-)

Example of Mercury seam

I'm not 100% on the save-game - there have been a few other mods enabled/disabled on this save. When starting a new game, I see Mercury as shown above.

When loading my existing save I see a brown/desert Mercury as shown below;

Without your mod enabled and starting a new game in vanilla Sol, Mecury is a molten planet.

I've had the following mods enabled (all disabled while testing above) with the existing save;
A Better System Scale
Real Distances
Upgraded Systems

Have read that the game can cache some assets, even if the mods are disabled - and this may be a leftover.

Texture overlap?

New models should show up in save games, in theory. If not I'll be a sad panda.
baphomet 17 May, 2016 @ 1:29pm
Mercury looks great! Very cool to see the custom model.

Some minor texture overlap close to the northen pole.

For future model updates, is it possible to make this save game compatible?

The issues you mentioned should be fixed now.
ocean pollen 14 May, 2016 @ 10:12am
I had a bunch of strange experiences with this mod:

1. enemy ships entering the system to the galactic east would instantly be attacknig neptune -- which is on the other side of the solar system. This happened repeatedly. Neptune's mining station was somehow omnipresent.

2. I once had a fleet battle where both fleets were on separate edges of the system. Because their weapons couldn't actually reach far enough to do any damage, this lasted until I retreated. They wouldn't close the distance, and flew around in the 'cloud formation' of an ongoing battle.

3. I didn't measure it, but it sure seemed like it took unusually long for my ships to leave the system. Probably you play hyper FTL most of the time? Hyper ships can leave a system from any point; warp and wormhole FTL ships have to fly to the edge of the system before they can leave.

Now just needs an anomaly, if no civ starts in Sol and you find it as a tombworld, in which you discover that the locals denied the planet-ness of one of the star's satellites and that subsequently all life on the planet was destroyed in a horrific disaster. acknowledge button text: "It was probably a coincidence."
baphomet 12 May, 2016 @ 7:00pm
Yes, looks great. Applies to new games only.

Love the longer travel times in Sol, thanks for sharing!
Greatexperiment  [author] 12 May, 2016 @ 6:00pm
It should be fixed now. The changes will likely only appear in a new game though. Thanks!
baphomet 12 May, 2016 @ 3:41pm
[Edit]
Some config files were changed to increase font and ui for the image. Similar to Big Text Mod, issue can be replicated without these changes as well.
baphomet 12 May, 2016 @ 3:39pm
Not a problem, this is Alpha Centauri, new game. Menu is open to AC1 showing Planet Type as Luna, with a matching wiki. Mouse is hovered over ACV showing Planet Type as Ariel.

Thanks again!
Greatexperiment  [author] 12 May, 2016 @ 2:47pm
If you could send me screenshots or something showing specifically what you're seeing that would be great! Thanks!
baphomet 12 May, 2016 @ 2:35pm
This is excellent and can't wait for the additional textures!

Noticed the Planet Type tooltip is showing the same Sol names and wiki descriptions in other solar systems. Typically this would show 'Gas Giant', 'Barren World' etc. Habital planets appear to show as normal. All works as intended in Sol itself. Can take a screenshot if necessary.

Nice to learn about our local system while out exploring in any case.

Also saw some minor pop-in of planet textures while navgating Sol. Probably due to the 'recombobulating' - worth trade off if this is a technical limitation.

Thank you!
Greatexperiment  [author] 12 May, 2016 @ 9:01am
Both issues should now be fixed.
Gavinhawk 12 May, 2016 @ 6:50am
Missing your trait locolization. Just need to add something like this.
trait_silv_pc_mars_preference:0 "Adaptable"
trait_silv_pc_mars_preference_desc:0 "Some barren planets can be of use."to locolization.
I haven't reached earth yet so I can't say if anything else is missing.
Ninefingers 12 May, 2016 @ 2:34am
Cool mod, but no orbital ressources at all in the sol system
