Well, Prague's KT8 (no. 9006) was damaged in an accident that much that they decided to not rebuild it (in 1995). Strausberg got 2 new trams anyway, so they need only 1 KT8 as backup (they can only use 2 trains at the same time). So they sold 2 of the 3 KT8 to Prague and got the 3rd one modernized (I think I read for free but I'm not sure where I read it). Now they have another backup KT8 in Prague and Strausberg got a modernized one back. Sounds like a great deal to me.
Lvov was an Austrian city before 1917 (and was known as Lemberg), but may Austrian cities have 1435 mm gauge.
We here have mostly 1525 mm gauge on trams (and 1520 on heavy rail). But there is an unique tram system in Rostov-on-Don, where the gauge is 1435 as in Europe. It is strange but they still don't use used cars from Europe.
No, both cars are definetely T6's. I think this is a pantograph from some local car. Original one get to another head car instead of broken one. People in Russia and Ukraine are very inventive in such things.

About 1000 mm in Russia: the other city in Russia with 1000 mm gauge is Pjatigorsk. It is placed in North Caucasus. Germans were there in 1942 but the tram is much older =))
Also Cremean trams (Evpatoria and closed Sevastopol and Simferopol systems) have 1000 mm. Evpatoria uses Tatra KT4 and never used Tatra T4, but used Gotha trams (GDR built).
yep its realy looks like Prague modernised wagon. Strange mb they were rebuilt in Plzen?
And actually this car has low section on the middle so it is compartable for disabled persons. Why they disbanded it?

yes sometimes this cars even called Tatra KT6 (like in Tallin).
I know about Kt4 - Soviet sistems prefered T4 trams (narrow version of T3) for a long time, while KT4 were purchased by GDR. You know our people was very... conservative if not say retarded) Moscow purchased Tatra T3 till 1988 (!!) although there already were T6B5 and KT8D5. The good point - we still have a great amount of rebuild Tatras here http://transphoto.ru/photo/08/55/66/855661.jpg , the bad... you know it looks very cute but still strange for such a large city as Moscow is.
That's maybe the reason why all the Tatra trams are getting disbanded.
At least it's the reason for the German ones.

The KT4 were actually built fist for German cities so their width was set to our old tram system standards. The prototype has been tested in Potsdam.

Why does the 2nd wagon have the old pantograph? I mean, the doors are obviously those from Berlin. Also the red lamps over the doors (door closing lights) are from here. But did they maybe put a pantograph on a B6? I mean, we replaced all pantographs here to the newer ones...
Well, the reason Kaliningrad has 1000mm gauge is that the city used to be Prussian by the time the trams were introduced. We normally use 1435mm gauge here but some cities here still have 1000mm. But since it's not common in Russia and it's hard to get new trains from local manufacturers with that gauge they got rid of most lines in Kaliningrad.
The Temirtau train looks like it just came from Potsdam, with old operator logo and even number.
I know many old KT4D and T6A2 are now in Szcecin. Actually rode them last year during my visit and noticed they even have the last repaint information etc. on the outside still in German.

They seemed to modernize it the same way they did for Prague's KT8 with differences in the design which is the actual BVG (Berlin's tram, subway and bus operator) corporate design. Also the interior as far as I could see it on photos is the same as BVG has, not Prague's design.

Also our tram has scharfenberg coupling instead of old czhech tram couplings as all Prague's KT8 have.
Actually, former Soviet states (Russia, Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia) also use KT4 trams and they are also that narrow (2,2 m) as Berlin ones. More over now when most part of KT4SU are scraped, they run used KT4D from Germany. But there is another reason for that: some cities here have 1000 m tram tracks and more narrow depot boxes. I've ridden on KT4 in Kaliningrad (former Koenigsberg) and Szeged (Hungary).
The sad news - about new low. It is actually says that most Tatras in Czechia an Slovakia would be disbanned soon. Also, I don't know whatwould be with Budapest tramnet - near every tram in there are old highfloor Hungarian trams or Tatras. Sofia in Bulgaria, Zagreb, Milan's Petter Witts... sad.
Well, I'm living in the west of Berlin, so we don't have any trams in my district. But if I go to the east part of Berlin there are a lot. We used to have KT4D (mostly double trains) and T6A2 (also double train formations). They were narrower than the Russian ones because in Berlin Köpenick the track distance between both directions was even too narrow for our newer GT6 trains. But they renew the tracks in the last years, so now even the 20cm wider Flexity Berlin trains can go around there (not sure if everywhere for now).
So I used to ride even original KT8's. Ironicaly I lived in Volgograd (the city where the only russian KT8D5 serve) for 1,5 months and have never seen this tram there (
I shall say more: I lived in the house in Moscow in a room with a grat view of tramline where this KT8D5 was testing in 1990. But I moved to that flat only in 1994 lol)
Also as I know the greates fleet of this cars works in... Pyongyang, North Korea. They all were built for Moscow, but, You know, we haven't enough money in 1991, so we bought "chopped" version of KT8 - Tatra T7B5, and only 10 wagons.
So, it is one of my favorite cars too. I must say there is a model of modernised KT8 in Cities in Motion. I know the author (we are sort of... enemies to say the truth) and now the man (Alex_by) who might convert it in CSL.
As for me I've made original KT8D5 in Cities in Motion and whould be glad to make it in CSL)
Haha, well. In Russia there is only 1 of them. In Germany the only ones we had were in Strausberg (30 minutes east of my hometown Berlin). I used to ride them sometimes but now 2 of the 3 went back to Prague and the 3rd one got modernized (yellow with black in window area, newer pantograph)
I wonder if it's difficult to change the classic to a modernized version. It's kinda repaint to stronger red, black and white, new pantograph and new (more glassy) doors. The headlights changed slightly...
But anyway, I'm looking forward to my favorite Tatra. Thanks so much =3
Since the bug in the asset editor was fixed yesterday with the update I wonder if it's possible to create also the KT8D5 tram. I mean, the design is quite similar. Difference is that it has doors on both sides since it's a bidirectional tram and it got a middle part. But it would be perfect because it has a huge capacity.
Well, I think the modernized version (KT8D5R.N2P) looks even better but the KT8D5 is a tatra classic that needs to roll in a big city with overcrowded tram lines =D
