Report it as a bug to game devs. Nothing I can do about it.

Oddly enough after the ND update, these are causing trash trucks to fill up completely when they pass by.

Hi, when I zoom out, the rocks become shiny and look horrible, is there anyway to sort this?

This stone is also props. What is the difference?

davidgren I sent you a friend request, continue there? :P

I just updated this, it's now under Paths menu in Decoration tab. It no longer floods and doesn't spawn seaguls. For people who had already plopped them, you need to bulldoze/replace to get rid of seagulls. Also, if you had plopped these and now they are not visible, just draw a piece of road nearby and they should appear. Let me know of any problems.

(Part 1)

TPB- Of course the reward for doing something great is to have everyone asking you to do more of the same. I'm a former SC4 modder and find myself very frustrated not to be able to go in, modify a few properties, and get exactly what I want. So until I can get a better handle on learning this stuff, I'm reliant on the kindness of others to be generous with their time. A couple of questions, then, and a request.

1. The "whiteness" that turns on when the Parks items plopping is enabled makes the rocks almost impossible to plop with any consistent accuracy in a small stream. Is there any way to toggle this to off?

(Part 2)

2. The "I'm drowning" icons, which you have explained very well in your description of the rocks, is very frustrating in streams with low water flow, as the level tends to fluctuate. Can these be turned off?- I wouldn't miss them globally. In fact, before reading your description I never even knew they existed.

3. Can the individual rocks be plopped?- in other words not on a 1x1 lot. There are times when being able to do that would be great. In the alternative, could one or two of the rocks be placed on a 1x1 lot so that the density could be at least reduced a bit?

(Part 3)

4. Are the individual rocks (boulders are probably more accurate) scalable? It would be great to have a couple of really big boulders in the inventory for those special places. One really big boulder either ploppable as an asset or on a lot would be nice.

5. Can the lot that these are on be depressed to be placeable a little below grade level? There are places where the top half or so of the boulder being visible would make a big difference, realism-wise.

6. Trying to think outside the box, could a variant of these that are intended by the end user to be placed in water be put in the water menu? It seems to me that I have seen that done with other things in the game and that doing so addresses at least some of the issues I have noted.

(Part 4)

Now, the request. When I was doing SC4D and learned about something in particular (road puzzle pieces, making props ploppable) I would do a tutorial on my SC4 mayor's diary: Three Rivers Region. These would be step-by-step "how to do it from scratch" descriptions. Unless I am missing something, and I have looked everywhere I can find, there is really nothing similar being done for Cities: Skylines. I assume that the folks who could mod here from the get-go are transferring skills learned in another game environment. Do you know of any such tutorial out there, perhaps associated with another game? I am willing to invest the time to learn this stuff but right now I cannot find the smallest toehold?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and responding as you have time.

Richard: If you read the description above everything you ask is answered. They are not trees or they would move in the wind. They are parks. The rocks are props so yes, if you zoom out too far they are not visible. Increase your Level of Detail setting in options to max to help a bit.

Awesome, thanks again, guild member.

Meteor Daddy 16 Oct, 2015 @ 8:44pm
These rocks rocks!I hope they're categorized as trees so we can brush them up quick and delete it quick.
