Please be advised that the mods in the new update ARE NOT replacement mods the are an entirely redone and updated mod with new overlays and models. The ones that had the pink screen are now corrected and work. There is also an additional set for wide angle use.

This connector camera is AMAZING, it's exactly what I've been looking for! If you've ever been frustrated trying to dock a ship to a station or another ship and have to keep switching between external views and poorly positioned cameras on your hull, then this mod is for you. Once you figure out the slightly-awkward camera placement, using it is a snap, and man, will this make your docking fast and easy! My mining ops have just gotten so much easier because of it, so thank you! I have been able to use this successfully with a custom connector mod with no issues. Love it!

One request: if you can find some way to make it easier to know the position of the camera when attaching to a connect (instead of trying to awkwardly position my third-person view and squint at the writing on the camera lens), that'd be a big help. Thankfully it's not something I have to do often, so I can live with it, just would be a nice touch.

Highly recommended! Would install again. 8/10
Mainframe 16 Oct, 2016 @ 6:04am
-not invisible
-when placed inside of the connector, it won't connect anymore.
Sapioit 10 Sep, 2016 @ 2:35pm
Don't get me wrong, the overlay has it's uses, but I think the lines are too thick and obstruct the vision. I'd suggest making the thicker ones half the thickness of the current slimest ones, and the slimest ones a quarter of the thickness of the current slimest ones.

At least test it on your world, to see if it would behave better...
lylesonders  [author] 10 Sep, 2016 @ 9:25am
I am working on a mod pack that will contain this and all my other optic mods. there are some that donot have an over lay and now with wide angle version as well.
Sapioit 10 Sep, 2016 @ 9:04am
I would use it, but only if the lines would be thinner...
jarge2 27 Jul, 2016 @ 12:08pm
sweet mod. i use it on everything now, merge blocks, connectors, grinders....without it at this point i'm sure i would just crash into everything :D
lylesonders  [author] 21 May, 2016 @ 8:50am
This is a totally seperate mod and has no affect on any other camera in the game. there are mods that do change the default overlay however none of my mods do, they only add an additional camera to the game.
Teneombre 20 May, 2016 @ 2:47am
Do this mod modify the overlay for normal camera ? I use the mod which remove dat horrible fog but it seems it doesn't work so I want to know if this one and the over one are incompatible :)
Bones 6 Apr, 2016 @ 3:07pm
where have placed it is on the layer above the connector, thats why is shows, it needs to be placed directly above the connector on the same layer. I use these on merge blocks for docking, these are beside the airlocks, i had to move the door one block into the ship rather that flush and placed the camera in the space infront of the door so its completely hidden in the mrg block.
lylesonders  [author] 6 Apr, 2016 @ 1:59pm
I will take a look, maybe something has changed in the current updates. I havent played in a while so I not sure what all has changed.
Maniac 6 Apr, 2016 @ 1:43pm
I am using the standard, vanilla connectors.
lylesonders  [author] 6 Apr, 2016 @ 12:52pm
What connectors are you using this mod was/is designed for the standard connectors, some like the slim connectors or auxillary connectors are smaller thus the camera is visible, if i get time i will add another block for those.
Maniac 5 Apr, 2016 @ 7:43pm
The description states that the camera is invisible. But I can clearly see it hovering in front of my connector.
lylesonders  [author] 5 Apr, 2016 @ 6:04pm
Hey Bones, I can do that but it might be a while since I haven't had much time to play SE I have several mods in the works for cameras and huds, just no time to work on them.
Bones 5 Apr, 2016 @ 4:15am
This is an awesome mod. Is there any chance you can add more of them for different placements like to the side of the merge block, bellow and especialy a couple of my builds they are side ways to allow docking
WAND3R3R_R33C3 27 Nov, 2015 @ 9:48am
Even with 3d person veiw it can be a little hard to hit the mark. One of the best mods created.
lylesonders  [author] 18 Nov, 2015 @ 1:32pm
Hey Draeath, I uploaded the modified version of this mod, link is above
draeath 17 Nov, 2015 @ 3:43pm
I'd appreciate that - dedicated servers effectively force one to use a public file from the workshop, and I'd prefer not to have to upload a modified version ;)
lylesonders  [author] 16 Nov, 2015 @ 6:03pm
draeath, the overlay is spacific to the camera but it is easily removed if you have 7zip just unzip the file and remove the overlay file. If you cant I can upload a version of the camera without the overlay.
draeath 16 Nov, 2015 @ 5:31pm
Is that overlay specific to these cameras? Any way to get rid of it without editing the mod file? (I want to use it on my private dedicated, so can't just edit the file)
lylesonders  [author] 28 Oct, 2015 @ 1:45pm
Thanks, I use it on every ship I build now large and small.
g_BonE 28 Oct, 2015 @ 12:17am
Unbelievable how useful this mod has become for me. Much recommended!
lylesonders  [author] 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:52pm
the ship grinder is a large area grinder so it can locate the camera while the hand grinder is limited to such a small area that its hard to locate the exact postion of the camera. at least that is what i am assuming.
BumbleGrum 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:30pm
Strange that the camera can be removed by a grinding ship, but not the hand grinder. That seems to me to be an inconsistancy with the game software.
lylesonders  [author] 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:03pm
Thanks Bumbles, I use it on my merge blocks as well though it has a tendency to explode due to a merge block bug. but it is cheap and easy to place. so I just keep repacing it.
BumbleGrum 12 Oct, 2015 @ 4:48pm
Oh! And of course, also on my drills.
BumbleGrum 12 Oct, 2015 @ 4:45pm
This is probably the most useful Mod yet. Congratulations Lyle on an excellent idea, and a well produced mod. I am now using this on all my docking connectors, Welders and Grinders.

This is what the developers should have provided us gamers in the first place. But then, there would be nothing for us to give accolades to you for.

Thanks ever so much for making the game that much more a pleasure to play.
lylesonders  [author] 27 Sep, 2015 @ 4:42pm
Yes I actually have one of these on the vanilla grinder, welder and even a modded drill so that i see exactly what the tool is seeing. I don't use to many modded welders or grinders so im not sure the placement, you will just have to play with it until you find the right placement. I ususally do this in a test world so that i don't mess up my playing world
Carnaxus 27 Sep, 2015 @ 2:25pm
I mean can I place your camera on a grinder or welder from a mod? And my 3rd question was about the interaction between the camera and the grinder it's placed on (if that's what it's been placed on, of course).
lylesonders  [author] 27 Sep, 2015 @ 2:06pm
There are two versions, one for large and one for small. as working with grinder and welders, they are only a single steel plate so once placed they are fully ready to go, to grind them down with a ship ususally works but nearly impossible by hand.
Carnaxus 27 Sep, 2015 @ 10:42am
A quick note for getting the orientation correct in creative mode: You can place the connector and then grind it down to where you can see the camera inside of it, then re-weld the connector back to full functionality.

Also, quick questions:
1) Does this work with mod welders and grinders? For example, the Twin Welder and Twin Grinder?

2) Is it small and large ship, or large ship only?

3) More of a curiosity question, but did you ever have a problem with grinders grinding down the camera that was mounted inside them?
lylesonders  [author] 9 Sep, 2015 @ 1:17am
Rathlon, The camera will only mount ontop of the connector, the indicators on the connector must be up and down. Also the connector will only mount bottom and back, you will have to change its orientation to find the correct orientation, watch the model as you rotate it around to see. If you are still having problems there may be something in the way of the collision box, IE another block. let me know if this helped
Fixitman64 9 Sep, 2015 @ 12:01am
Very cool! I have wanted this for a long time.
Rathlon Tobias Riverwind 8 Sep, 2015 @ 11:53pm
I've tried to place the camera ontop of a connector and it wouldn't place.
I've tried the default one and a modded one but nothing.
How does this work?
Jiggs 8 Sep, 2015 @ 6:56pm
All I can say is that this camera totally rocks!!!!
Q_meets_the_doctor 6 Sep, 2015 @ 12:25pm
too bad you cant have that empty space where you placed it be an armor block
Cillian O'Keefe 6 Sep, 2015 @ 12:10pm
can you add diffrent colours so its more me
lylesonders  [author] 6 Sep, 2015 @ 12:10pm
I was able to do it once in a while but it is difficult and I didn't want to make it to difficult to do.
Q_meets_the_doctor 6 Sep, 2015 @ 12:02pm
well ive been able to weld it just by looking at where i placed it
lylesonders  [author] 6 Sep, 2015 @ 11:56am
I sure can, I will try and add one for a side mount this weekend if i get the chance but will add soon Also with the placement as far as welding on the smaller ones, once placed it is complete so no welding required, as far as removal I found that it can be ground down by a ship welder fairly easily while a hand welder is nearly impossible since the camera is mounted in the connector.
Q_meets_the_doctor 6 Sep, 2015 @ 11:37am
also you can weld it just aim for the empty space
Q_meets_the_doctor 6 Sep, 2015 @ 11:36am
can you add it in other placements pozitions for the small ship like left right or bottom because for my welding ship has a azmith open cocpit on top of the connector so i have to place it in a wierd angle
