I know you have your Tesco and other supermarket's assets but they are not really super stores.
We have them all over the place in USA - Texas.
I use 3ds max for modelling and photoshop for texturing, theres a really useful thread on the paradox forums which will probably help you on your way.
It is for 3ds max though but should give you some hint and tips:

Off topic a little, I have been trying Sketchup to make assets, but have hit a brick wall when in comes to getting anything decent into CS. I have followed some youtube vids that use Autodesk 3ds max, but still get assets whos surfaces are very weird. What Software are you using.
Any direction greatly appreciated.
