I had the same problem with the water. At attempt n°1 I placed the pumps at the little lake (central map when you begin the game), and the sewage at the waterfall. It started to flood the end of the central map. I restarted the map and replaced the pumps at the waterfall and the sewage at the little lake. It started to flood just behind the lake. I placed some pumps at the flooding and a sewage much further away. These were not connected to the city. Result : I pumped the river dry, but there was still water in that lake, but it flowed away from the river.

@Meowmix, @Pixel0rd I've looked at the water flow, and after three years it was still completely stable for me. After that I tried to mess up the waterflow by placing a lot of pumps/pipes, but I couldn't create a flooding. Maybe it has something to do with your pumps/sewage placement? A solution might be to avoid the central river and just place pumps along the coast. It should work fine that way. Another issue might be that if you build too close to the small river, the terrain will automatically correct the height, potentially narrowing the river. So, be careful around water on this map. It's a bit vunerable.

@Meowmix, okay that's bad, I'll take a look at the map this week to improve the rivers. Thanks!

Loved the map, but had the same problem as a lot of other people. The river in the middle randomly started to flood. It looked like it may be due to the rivers it fed into towards the shore were too shallow and also flowed back into that river.
Zakerias  [author] 9 May, 2015 @ 7:34am
@Pixel0rd, I tested the waterways for a few years and they seemed to be stable. However, placing pumps and sewage pipes might affect the waterflow. To be certain there won't be any floods, it's the safest to put sewage and filtration along the coast, away from the rivers.

anyone else have the problem, after 2 years, the river in the middle of map (the part of the bigger one) just flooding the small rivers and it floods the map...?
edmundbenz 8 May, 2015 @ 6:02pm
Damn awesome..
MartiniMan 8 May, 2015 @ 1:52am
I think I might have a go at making a map myself, cant be that hard right? maybe something that has barely got any land at all so you'd have to build dykes and dams yourself to create area to build on. Need to wait for my new harddrives to arrive first though cause my old one's broke down.
EHV LULH0ER 7 May, 2015 @ 5:32pm
No problem the maps you already made are awesome, and taking a break for something like this is completely understandable. I once had my own game server and it took so much time and resources that I had to quit so I could focus on real life stuff.

Anyways I look forward to any other map you will make even though it might take some time. This game is a thousand times better than Simcity and I think this game will rock for a long time, so no hurry.

Such a great map! Thank you!

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes "God made the world, but the Dutch made Holland."
Zakerias  [author] 7 May, 2015 @ 9:58am
@UntitledHD, I'm currently working on an small island map. My map Pierdoniadiel also has a couple of wadden islands.

@lulhoer, I'm taking a short break from real-world maps. They are fun to make, but they're also a lot of work and quite difficult to balance. Maybe I'll do a map inspired by Brabant for my Typical Dutch Landscape series.

Thanks everyone for your ideas! I'm happy that you enjoy these maps :)

EHV LULH0ER 6 May, 2015 @ 4:01pm
Your maps all look awesome, I just have one request, is there a possibility to make a map of Noord-Brabant? If yes that would be awesome, and if yes plz make the starting tile close to Eindhoven.

Even still your maps are awesome, keep up the good work.

Nice!

Goed gedaan kan je misschien ook stukje noord-holland en de wadden eilanden maken? (this is dutch)

Is a realy good map. Greetings from Spain, and congrats :hardhat:
Zakerias  [author] 5 May, 2015 @ 2:57pm
@martiniman, I sometimes had the same problems with dams. That's why I made the two special locations, you should always be able to drain these as long as you keep your dam outward. Like in the picture above. Draining other parts of the map might be more difficult, because I haven't tested that.
MartiniMan 5 May, 2015 @ 12:15pm
i found that pumping out water from the polders is actually pretty easy when using the large waterpumping stations, they can be found on the workshop. one proplem i have is that i cant alway stop the water with the hydro dam, somethimes the water just flows trough even when its off or not operating. i also found that the amount of power needed to pump the water back to the other side of the dam using the large pumping station is smaller than the amount of power the dam generates!
RaketenRonny 4 May, 2015 @ 9:23am
Best map I've ever played, i really like it, keep up the good work
MartiniMan 3 May, 2015 @ 11:51am
didn't even think of that, gonna try right away
Zakerias  [author] 3 May, 2015 @ 8:25am
It's rather simple actually. After you build the dam, place two or three water pumps on each side of the dam, in the part you want to drain. They don't have to be connected to your city, but they do need power, I think. One windmill will do. It will take about one year, depending how many pumps you place to drain one of the polders. You can watch the water flow when you speed up. At first the ground will be sandy, but this will turn into nice bright green grassland.

Have fun and let me know if it works! :)
MartiniMan 3 May, 2015 @ 1:39am
you show 2 picutures in wich you created a polder using the hydro electric dam, how did you manage to get rid of the water?
