how to setting tihs mod?
MadTech 1 Jul, 2015 @ 3:40pm
Worked well for me, when setting the save time to every 60 minutes. No crashes, some lag which returned to normal after about 15 seconds.

Now unsubscribed because latest patch (1.1.1b) adds a configureable autosave option in the main menu/options screen. :-)
geminian_mike 22 May, 2015 @ 10:45am
@tcgames65 i'll take the 'break the saves' option. thx :)
tcgames65 21 May, 2015 @ 5:01am
To geminian_mike First send me a link of your video when you are finish with you project. I would like to see it. I was thinking for your setup of the config file you could try this; You need 200 files right? Well if you take 200 and make 5 groups with 40 slots, 10 groups at 20 slots. (depends on how much typing you want to do) then set your time for each save (time = to what you think you will need) Then use the skip group line. (you will have to check with o0kami about how to add more then one group or groups for the skip group line.) Plus I would add one last group called theend with a 10 to 30 min save so you can stop the saving before the saving goes back to the first file and starts over. That would be if you did all the work at one time
tcgames65 21 May, 2015 @ 5:00am
To geminian_mike pt2
Otherwise if you break it up over time I think it would be best to move your saves to another folder after each day you work on it adding Dates to the save name. That way you can have 2 groups default and theend with more time of the last group so you can stop the game. I hope that helps.

New version of the mod!

- Fixed the error that appeared in the version 1.1 when we were using the save on the cloud. ( @tcgames65: Thanks for the warning )
- Fixed the error detecting the oldest save. ( @geminian_mike: thanks for the warning )

BTW:
I had problems to enable the mods after the version 1.1. I had to unsubscribe and subscribe every single mod from outside of the game ( @tcgames65 thanks! )
geminian_mike 20 May, 2015 @ 3:49pm
Upon restarting the game, the save slots automatically jumps back to 1, which overwrote my save files. (I'm trying to do 200 slots and make a time lapse). Is it able to add a config line that includes the time of the save on the name, or basically preventing this?
Vincent  [author] 20 May, 2015 @ 11:06am
NOTE:

After the new patch, it seems that there are some errors and there's a chance that it won't work properly. I'm investigating it.

Thank you for your patient :)
MRTRM 19 May, 2015 @ 12:07pm
does it work with the new game upgrade?
Vincent  [author] 10 May, 2015 @ 12:02pm
Hi!

New version of the mod uploaded.

Added the new parameter 'skip_save_on_groups' for the group. It makes that several groups don't save at the same time and will only save the one/s that we will choose.

For more info, read the description of the mod.
Thank you!
Alshain 7 May, 2015 @ 2:24pm
Given how much this game crashes, I'm surprised this isn't a standard feature. Good job.
Vincent  [author] 19 Apr, 2015 @ 7:25pm
@Letting Off H20 I move the messages to the "Errors and Crashes Reporting" thread in the forum. I send you a friend request, because I guess that I need more info on chat. I would appreciate if you add me as a friend :)
Vincent  [author] 13 Apr, 2015 @ 9:00am
Hi!

I have noticed today that there was a confusing error message when the mod started in a fresh instalation and the ini file didn't exist.

Thank you ^^
Vincent  [author] 26 Mar, 2015 @ 7:31pm
Hi!

I uploaded a new version with bug related with the cloud save. When the 'save_cloud_image_hack' wasn't True, the mod didn't create a cloud save.
Vincent  [author] 25 Mar, 2015 @ 7:00pm
@GordonDry As always, I really appreciate your feedbacks and comments. Thank you :)

For me it's not annoying that behaviour, but for other people could be the same. I think that I could control that, stoping the autosave when we are dragging. But maybe there other people that don't feel the same about that.

Because of that, I started a thread with suggestions and improvements for the mod. If you think that this would be a nice improvement for the mod. Feel free to add your comment there and we can value it :)

Thanks!
GordonDry 25 Mar, 2015 @ 3:43pm
I gave it a try but like another autosave mod, when it saves in the wrong moment (while dragging something for example) it can produce a hang.
So for now I'm done with it and have to remember to save manually.
This is a clear save because when you save manually you stop dragging anything, go to menu and save.
Roger 24 Mar, 2015 @ 4:53pm
Sounds really nice. Till now i was happy with the other autosave mod, but your mod seems so configurable. I will give it a try :3
Vincent  [author] 24 Mar, 2015 @ 9:51am
As I promised, new version of the mod with cloud support! :-)

The feedback is always welcome :-P

Thanks
Miles TEG 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:36am
Explanations ar clear :D
Thanks :)
Vincent  [author] 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:32am
@Miles By the way. Really useful configuration :-D
Vincent  [author] 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:29am
@Miles

The save_duration is a way to control that two groups don't try to save at the same time.
For example:

One group saves at 30 minutes and another one at 1h. The second save of the 30 minutes would start at the same time that the one from 1h. So I gave a "margin of time" for each save, to prevent that kind of things.

The code from Colossal doesn't contemplate this posibility. Well, It does, but the only thing that would happen is that the save from "1h group" would never happen, because the "30m group" would be saving first, and not leting the other one to be saved.

For that reason I prevent that with the parameter "save_duration". Which means that we have a marging of time of "1.5 seconds" for each save. And the second save is queued and processed later :-)

I hope that my explanation was more or less clear ^^
Vincent  [author] 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:29am
@Miles If this mod is creating any crash, I would need more info. But we need to be sure that it's my mod. The @Spool post was a bit confused for me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, if the tag is anoying for us, I can remove it without any problem. An of course you would need to be more careful about the preffixes and suffixes of each group ( that's why I added the name of the group at the end, to create a unique name for each group ).
Miles TEG 24 Mar, 2015 @ 1:11am
Yesterdy I had one or two crash of the game, but I don't know if it's related to this mod or another...
o0kami, I just add you, to help you :)
I have a request : can we remove the [foo] string added at the end of the save name with a foo category ?

What do really do the setting save_duration ?

Here my .ini file

@Spool Do you have the "AutoSave - Configurable" installed? If that's the case, please, uninstall ( not disable, unistall ) it and try again.

If that isn't the case, and you don't have the other mod installed. Please add me as friend and we can try to investigate the case.

Thanks :)
Spool Lyger 23 Mar, 2015 @ 9:37pm
I seem to get a bluescreen every 10-20 minutes when playing City Skylines with this mod enabled. Anyone else experiencing CTD's and Bluescreens with this mod? There are people who are using the "AutoSave - Configurable" mod also reporting CTD's and bluescreens as well. One even posting an error they got with the debugger, http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=411564485
Vincent  [author] 23 Mar, 2015 @ 4:05am
@Miles I supposed that was a problem related with the save path. I'm glad that the effords were in the right direction!

It's always welcome if I have people that can help me in some point, to test new features or in other OS. So if you want to coloborate, feel free to add me ^^
Miles TEG 23 Mar, 2015 @ 12:43am
Yeah !! You solved the problem on OSX !
Thanks very much !
I just see your friend request. Do you still need my help ? If yes, I'll add you :)

Nice option for groups of save :p
Vincent  [author] 22 Mar, 2015 @ 10:04pm
New version of the autosave mod!
Changes ( see more info in the description ):
- Added the concept of 'group of slots'.
- Now with the game speed ( if we want, as everything here ^^ ) , we can control the save time of the autosave ( the more speed, the faster autosave ).
- CHANGE THE PATH OF THE CONFIG FILE. Your older configuration should be preserved and moved to the new path.
- Possibility to enabled the log file to find easier and faster the errors.

I'll appreciate your feedback, as always. Thanks!

PD: I couldn't have time to investigate save games in the cloud. It will be my next step :)
Vincent  [author] 22 Mar, 2015 @ 11:50am
I would like people like @Miles that has Mac or Linux and they would like to colaborate in the testing of new versions. If anyone is interested, add me as friend :)

Thanks!
Miles TEG 22 Mar, 2015 @ 5:25am
@o0kami : I don't see the file in there. I checked yesterday after launching and saving the game.
Vincent  [author] 22 Mar, 2015 @ 5:12am
@Miles So the CSLAutosave.ini file is created in '/Users/Me/Jeux/Steam Games/' folder, right? It's to be sure and change it in the description of the mod. Thanks!
Miles TEG 22 Mar, 2015 @ 4:55am
Hello,
As I see, Steam App is installed in /Applications/Steam.app
But, you can change the location of the game files as you can do on windows.
The default path is /Users/Me/Library/Application Support/Steam/
I set to another location on my drive to access quickly.
For me it's here : /Users/Me/Jeux/Steam Games/
So the SteamApps folder containing the Cities_Skyline game folder is in : /Users/Me/Jeux/Steam Games/
The workshop directory is also there.

But the local file I create, like Savegames, Assets, Maps,... are located here :
/Users/Me/Library/Application Support/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/
So the userGameState.cgs and the gameSettings.cgs are in there.

I'm not sure if there is another location for the files...

I hope this will help you :)
Vincent  [author] 21 Mar, 2015 @ 9:23pm
@Miles I don't have a mac to check it....

Based on the information from internet, that's the path where the games are installed.
Is there any option to change the installation folder or something like that? If there's a mistake on my instructions, I would appreciate that you or someone else tell the correct path.

Thank you!
Miles TEG 21 Mar, 2015 @ 12:22pm
I can't find the ini file on my MAC.
I searched in the %HOME/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/
but there is no folder name common here, nor the subfolder...
Vincent  [author] 20 Mar, 2015 @ 6:52am
@roberto It's really a nice feature and I agree you, so or sure it's going to be added, so so soon!

Thanks again, I appreciate so much these kind of things ^^
roberto tomás 20 Mar, 2015 @ 6:49am
@o0kami — yeah that's essentially it.
Vincent  [author] 20 Mar, 2015 @ 6:47am
@roberto I'm open to suggestions and new features, thank you! I'm trying to understand your suggestion, but I'm not pretty sure about what you are proposing. Do you mean to have slots of slots? In another words, for example, have 3 saves that are being used every 5 minutes, other 3 every 30 minutes and another 3 for every 1h?
roberto tomás 20 Mar, 2015 @ 6:34am
this is a great mod. My one want-list item: I wish there was a way to configure it to keep autosaves from 30m ago, 1hr ago, and make them every 5 minutes (ie, every update would only replace the previous, while every 6 would override the 30m update, and every 12 would shift all 3).
Shibo 19 Mar, 2015 @ 7:00pm
I'd love to see that feature as I am playing this game on both desktop and laptop, I'm really looking forward to this! (and you'd be the first one to implement it afaik) - thanks for your support, really appreciate it!
Vincent  [author] 19 Mar, 2015 @ 6:54pm
@Nice2MeatU2 I'm glad! Thank you! :D
Vincent  [author] 19 Mar, 2015 @ 6:53pm
@Shibo I didn't think about that, but it's a really nice idea. I will add that as soon as possible, and other things that I have in mind for this mod :)

Thank you!
Nice2MeatU2 19 Mar, 2015 @ 12:30pm
wow, this is cool! thanks a lot!
Shibo 19 Mar, 2015 @ 11:49am
is it possible to change the save-type to steam cloudsave? Couldn't find anything about that :( or does the API simply not provide anything for that funcionality?
Vincent  [author] 18 Mar, 2015 @ 8:51pm
I have added a new option to normalized the names ( always lowercase and without white spaces ). by default they're not normalized now, so the current saves of the previous version won't be used. If you want the previous behavior, set "save_normalized_names" to True.

I also have fixed some possible situations when the autosave could be initialized incorrectly and wouldn't work.

If there is any error that you have detected, please, let me know it :)

Thank you!
Vincent  [author] 18 Mar, 2015 @ 8:02am
@KevinLancaster check if the parameter "save_pause_separately=True" it's in the config file. If it isn't there, the plugin still being the old one. Unsubscribe and subscribe again, and it should work.

If the parameter it's "True" it should generate a save with "_pause" at the end. If you set the value to "False" it will use the usally slots to save in pause state.

You can check the screenshot on my profile.
KevinLancaster 18 Mar, 2015 @ 7:27am
Hmm, actually still doesn't seem to be working when paused, I think maybe it hasn't updated.
KevinLancaster 18 Mar, 2015 @ 5:49am
Yeah, I found that it made one save, I think it was just being slow because of the pause bug.
Vincent  [author] 18 Mar, 2015 @ 3:52am
@KevinLancaster hehe OS :). My spanish mind cheated me :-P. Did you try the last version of the mod? When you tried the mod, that version "pause" the time when you where playing in pause mode. Because of that, if you played a lot of time in pause mode, it took more than 10 minutes to save the game. In the current version, that doesn't happen. For other people seems to work well, and as I said, I tried it in to "fresh" computers ( not the one where I did the mod ) and It worked well.

I wait for new feedbacks from you :-)
Thank you
KevinLancaster 18 Mar, 2015 @ 3:44am
SO or OS? If you mean OS, I am on Windows 7. The mod generated the config file, I set the time to 10.0, it was the only thing I changed. Name of town was one of the default, Springdale, and save game file was just NewSave.
jztemple 17 Mar, 2015 @ 10:51pm
I started with that name. Could that be the issue? Well, see if anyone else reports it. It's working fine for me now :-)
