I just want to say I really enjoy this mod! I've used it to create a Voth empire froM Star Trek as well as to have fun reenacting the Silurian Hypothesis.

Hope this continues to get updated, it's awesome!

Hotfix for experimental update deployed: (hopefully) Fixed double portrait generation in certain classes. Thank you all for the feedback.

Ok yes, adding the following to the species missing their class works and makes them function fully again.

class="REP"

I personally used PDX-Unlimiter to edit the save.

Yes the update made them lose their class due to moving them to the Reptile class.
The update is for the better on new saves.
Alas it hurts current saves.


It technically would be possible for the mod author to add the old class (only the class), but you'd also have tor reload a save from before the update.

Another is to edit the save and assign each of the species that are missing it a class (currently trying this myself).


But again- This change is for the better for future users and dlc/mod compatibility. Sadly a side-effect of it.

Ah, I was wondering why my species suddenly had negative trait picks. I'm going to guess that the update broke something, as they now have a base of -1 pick.

It did broke old saves.
Making them unable to get gene-modified and the like.

Now it seems, and I'm testing this with just this mod enabled, that the change has caused the reptilian and machine classes to sort of break.

All the base game reptilian and machine portraits have doubled. The saurian and machine saurian portraits are fine, they appear in those classes now, but the base game ones repeat before the saurians, in the listing.

Experimental update: Biological Saurians have been moved to the Reptilian class, and machine saurians to the Machine class. Please let me know if anything is broken for this patch. Suspected affected areas are portrait sound effects and random name generation. Machine saurian random names have been removed to prioritize actual machine names (I might re-add them in the future after I polish this patch).

You don't need to touch the reptilian class at all to add them to it. Grab some example mods and check it out.

But putting a portrait set into the best fitting vanilla species class you increase compatibility with dlc/mods and all that substantially.

In the current setup you're locked out of any Reptilian specific stuff because of it.

Honestly I don't know why they wouldn't be in the Reptilian classe. Other species are not constrained to humanoid shapes (other than the humanoid class, duh), so why not these ones?

@RutraNickers; I don't really want to put Saurian portraits within the Reptilian class since they look quite different from your average humanoid reptilian. However, if enough people wish it so, I will change it.

Actually, there is a simpler way: Just change the portrait sets on this mod's portrait_sets.txt to species_class = REP. There is no need to edit vanilla files in portrait_categories anymore.

You can look at how they did it in Tasty Maid: Portraits to see what I'm talking about

@isawabrian; That would require a change in the script and an overwrite to the vanilla Reptilian class. Instead, you can modify the specific traits you want to be compatible with Saurians. It's much easier to do than changing portrait class.

Thank you for keeping these alive. I hope this isn't asking too much for something free, but do you know if there's a way to force this to put them in the Reptilian species class? I'd love to use them for a species I've been working on, but it has some traits locked to Reptilian.
