Just to go ahead and put this out there:

- Yes I do plan on updating this for 4.0 but New Dawn takes priority.
- No I don't know when it will be ready after the update comes out

Just wanting to check but has anyone else had issues with the Prime Machines without other mods installed?

I'm trying to make sure I'm not screwing up stuff on my end when its a compatibility issue between New Enclaves and another mod.

Yeah that is the issue. I was able to fix it after looking at the code. Basically there are no options for the game to pick if you do not have the "robots_allowed" flag enabled. Just go in your "281990\3122192542\events\new_enclaves_machine_events.txt" and delete any instance of the following:

OR = {
has_policy_flag = robots_allowed
is_machine_empire = yes
}

My game also crashed after finishing the first contact with the Prime Machines. I had robots outlawed. I reloaded and set robots to allowed, and the window after the first contact showed a clickable answer again. Clicking it, the game continued as always, without crashing.

Yeah a new unmodded game worked. Hopefully it turns out to be an issue with the policy that can be easily fixed. Would absolutely love to use it

I think I have something that might be of use.
On a hunch I tried the same save again with the same result (no interaction option on first contact leading to a crash when closing the window).
I then tried the save but this time I changed my policies and went from robotic workers and AI rights outlawed to allowed and AI citizen rights and this time first contact worked. I got an interaction option and concluded first contact without a crash.
My thinking is that outlawing robots/AI is the cause for the issues, maybe a lack of options for non-spiritualist outlawers (I was playing xphobe, fanatic pacifist).

Anyway, thanks for your great work and I hope again this was in some way helpful.

Thanks for getting back! Yeah, whenever you get the chance, I'd suggest narrowing it down and talking to the dev in question about it.

In the mean time though, make sure you're running mods that are up to date or at least confirmed to work with 3.14.159 :)

Made a playset with no other mod.
This time when I finished first contact with Prime Machines I had an interact option in the intro event and there was no crash. Unfortunately I will not have the time in the foreseeable future to troubleshoot further to see what mod-interaction might be the cause of having no option in the intro event as that seems to be what causes the crash, not the machines themselves.

As with the other one, are you using other mods with New Enclaves and does this problem happen with only New Enclaves enabled in your playset?

I had the same thing happen while playing inward perfectionists. No issues but every time I meet the prime machines I have no interact option with them and when I close the window the game crashes.
It´s a shame because other than that the mod is fantastic and it would be a shame to have to play without it.

Simplest way to figure out if its New Enclaves or something else is to create a playset with only this mod enabled.

If it crashes then its this mod.

If it doesn't, then you probably need to go through your mods and figure out which one is the culprit.

Not going to lie...a bunch. This isn't only with the Exterminators though. Not sure why anything would cause a crash with this mod

I started another save playing determined exterminator with only enabling this mod and I can confirm it is event nemac.11 that causes issue

Yeah it probably was the first contact stuff. The mod was missing stuff related to the new wild aliens and stuff so I just added that in. I'll try and get it uploaded tonight or tomorrow.

tbf, the problem is spesifically with the first contact, which this mod does use to contact the enclaves, so maybe it's something to do with that?

Hmm, yeah I'll try and take a look asap. There shouldn't be any conflicts but I guess I missed something that the vanilla enclaves use related to them.

trust me, i went through my ENTIRE modlist, checking every single mod individually by loading up a new save, using console cheats to find void worms, and starting the first contact. every other mod cleared the bar, but this one caused the endless looping

Are you absolutely sure its New Enclaves causing the issue? I can't imagine anything with this mod touching anything added through the Grand Archive. I can double check once I finish up 3.14.15 compat for New Dawn.

Am also having the same problem with Herozen and Reu

First contact with the "Void worms" is currently stuck on stage 1 and keeps on repeating

Pity have to take this mod off for a while until the modder comes back and sees what is bugging with this mod and the 2 newest space fauna

got a bug report. for some reason, this mod causes first contact with the new space fauna in the dlc to bug out, constantly lopping on its starting message of discovery

took forever to narrow down which mod was causing this. i have several empty save files to delete...

When I encounter the first machines with my individualist machine empire, I get 0 options to talk with them and it causes the game to crash. I have 0 fanatical ethics, though I'm using the 'Ethics & Civics Classic' mod for 3.12. ( Cooperative, xenophire, authoritairian, industrialist, materialist ethics, and an oligarchy )

Sorry for the back-to-back commenting here, but I think that's it. Most folks who mentioned issues recently were playing some kind of fanatic ethic. I didn't crash because I wasn't using any fanatics, and the disabled code only looks for is_(ethic). I was under the impression this call looks for both versions of the ethics by default, but I guess not. I'll test it out tomorrow afternoon.

Also, just read some other comments, other crashes now might be happening if fanatic versions of the ethics weren't added like the regular versions for the first contact event.

Damn, was working fine for me for a while after the patch was pushed out. Might've been because I already got first contact on that save though. Might peek at it later if it's still in the mod. I was thinking about it recently, I had mods before Machine Age that allowed me to start as an individualist machine/synthetic ascended empire. Worked fine back then. I think it might have to do with the portraits in the "MACHINE" category. The mod I had added a separate portrait group called "ROBOT" because the machines previously had Machine Intelligence as a hard requirement and the new group was a work-around that. So I suspect there's something in there that is getting confused by the portrait group either not matching the expected ethic or the expected authority, since portrait groups are how AI determine stuff like compliments and insults and the like. Also possible I'm entirely wrong about that, but I wanna check that later.

yeah prime machines did def crash me even with some cybernetic pops via war where a planet had building that turned pops into cybernetics (im going genetic route) it still provided zero initial dialog options then killed the game on closing the box

Alright, good to know. I'll try and start taking a look at things tomorrow. I think worse case scenario I'll just disable the Prime Machines until I can fix them properly.
