@JamesDreemurr: Technically yes since (as mentioned below) it's implemented into the base game except for the quality and improved sprites parts. But it still works perfectly fine if you care about the quality ammo boxes.

@jybil178: Yes I made this mod and then submitted its code to the devs and it became part of the base game except for the quality part and the improveed sprites. So technically this mod is not needed any more unless you care about ammo box quality and slightly nicer ammo box sprites. Tho as mentioned in previous comments I haven't added the newest ammo additions to the mod yet.

I'm a little confused at this mod... What exactly does it do, or is it supposed to do?

Combinable boxes - this is already in vanilla.. .isn't it? i tried to replace a box a while ago, and found out that if you drag and drop onto one, or at least one in an ammo loader, it can move all the remaining ammo to it, without the mod

Quality boxes - okay, this is good, and I will probably get the mod just for this. Having more ammo will always be nice

overhaulded carrying - you can already carry two boxes at once? and I know it slows you down, but i'm not sure how much

improved sprite - i've never noticed the graphic detail, so it will be nice to never have to worry about it...


I guess my question is this, is the description old by chance, and did the developers basically include combining and able to carry 2 ammo boxes already? Or is there something I am missing xD

@booper02: Oh right they added a new ammo type... I'll have to add that then.

@Otto Bayer: I don't think Baroverhaul changes ammo boxes so it should be compatible, but I haven't tested it.

@booper02: Fixed. I removed the overrides for railgun shells since they're in the vanilla game and this mod didn't do anything else to them that's not in base game now so they're no longer necessary.
The only things this mod does different than the vanilla game since the integration are improved ammobox sprites and quality for ammoboxes

This mod seems to still work. I jumped into sub editor and it lets me carry two ammo boxes just fine, with slowed movement speed too.

Ah I see! Okay, then it seems to be alright, since they have rewritten everything. I would have just found it strange if they had used your exact code without changing anything and without giving you credit. Nevertheless, I think they could have at least briefly mentioned that the idea was based on your mod, but if that's not a problem for you, that's okay. Btw, you've definitely earned that title :)

@Ornlu: Well I gave them the exact code as seen in the mod, but we agreed that this isn't the best approach to implement into the game, but was the only way of achieving this gameplay feature at that time. The devs then implemented support for statvalues in holdable components of items, which previously was only supported in wearables and afflictions. They then updated the code to feature their newly supported statvalues instead as they properly stack. So technically the only things that are exactly as I provided them are the whole idea and the way you hold the items and how you change the way you hold railgun shells while swimming and having the ammo boxes combinable. The rest was either not implemented (the updated sprites) or adjusted by them with newly supported code they added. I'm also already featured in the game's credits as a community contributor so technically I'm mentioned already :steamthumbsup:

You gave them the code for carrying two ammunition boxes, right? Because I noticed that the developers didn't mention anywhere that they used your code. Was that agreed upon? Otherwise, I find it kinda strange that they don't give you any credit for your work.

Yes, apart from the quality crafting and slightly improved ammo box sprites, this mod is now in vanilla :steamthumbsup:
I may update it to feature the slowness via statvalues instead of afflictions since that was specifically added to make this mod work better in vanilla so this mod is currently technically running a little "worse" than the new vanilla implementation.
So I may update it to bring it to the same level as vanilla with proper stacking of speed values, but don't expect an update anytime soon due to current time constraints.

This mod still makes it so you can make quality boxes...but otherwise it is outdated as of last update i suppose.

Hey, you might have already heard, but on the unstable branch the devs have added in the feature for being able to carry two ammo boxes at once, complete with a slowdown for each one. I'm not a modder so I don't know if that will cause conflicts, but you might want to look into it.

I've always felt that this mod was polished enough to be vanilla, and I guess the devs somewhat agree!

looks like its just another case of my campaign breaking in unpredictable ways my bad for assuming it seemed to fix the issue when i got rid of the mod but it turned out that it was just that particular rapid fissile accelerator was broken for some reason and i thought this mod let you combine half mags of ammo for rifles and smgs and the like but i guess thats just in vanilla so my bad for assuming.

@Zichie: That is literally not even possible since this mod doesn't contain any code related to weapons or fuel rods. All this mod affects is turret ammo and nothing else.

To be more clear the mod doesn't consider fuel rods ammo it will let you put them in the rapid fissile accelerator but the weapon won't shoot

@Antoneeee: If you make your ammo boxes a variantof="coilgunammobox" and just adjust the necessary parts like their price, crafting and decon recipes and what spawns inside them and its sprite, then it would automatically become compatible without needing a patch. Check out how "BVTA Extension" did it as this is fully compatible without a patch.

@ssparky, @Безумная Коала: I think that's one of the errors the vanilla game boots up with currently, but still good to know they've added different ammo types to wreck loot. I'll adjust to that :steamthumbsup:

Vanilla added PreferredContainers on some ammo boxes for their corresponding wrecked loaders, which means the game throws an error on startup about "wreckchaingunloader" not being used in any item prefabs.

Is it not possible to craft Masterwork Quality ammo boxes? I can find them in wrecks, pirate ships etc. but for some reason despite having maxed out weapons skill I only can craft excellent quality ones.

Update regarding my talent suggestion, if you're still looking at this for recommendations... it could be Extra Powder, for the high-caliber ammunition payloads, or Gun Runner, since that handles carrying ammunition boxes and whatnot. Might be more balanced than Weaponsmith, unless you think that maybe the Munitions Expertise would fit, since that allows SMG Magazines and Shotgun Shells to be crafted.
