Thats their entire function, they use spears to eat since they dont have a mouth.
B - spawn menu
shift - spawn tamed creature (will spawn a SLUGPUP if you have the slugcat selected and spawn it while holding shift)
alt - spawn DEAD creature
Chiming in to say that this mod, works with the QOL patch. There's an issue where the foodbars of slugpups (no matter if modded or vanilla) don't appear, however.
A bug I've noticed before the patch is that pressing grab with an empty hand immediately drops the NPC slugpup off your head, which makes it harder to pick up items or exist well with Artificer, who uses the grab keybind to explode. Non-NPC slugpups get off your head after holding the grab button for a while, in comparison.
