yeah its a hardware thing, you can force enable shadows with the following launch option

-force_vendor_id 0x10DE -force_device_id 0x1180

running this on my thinkpad t450, shadows wont load?
a strange bug but i'll pass it off as my hardware.

Привет! Если тени исчезают, это значит, что Garry's Mod автоматически ограничил качество теней до "среднего", потому что считает, что ваш компьютер слишком старый для более высоких настроек (возможно, это также причина падения FPS — попробуйте "режим производительности", когда всё заработает).

Вы можете вручную обойти это ограничение, добавив в параметры запуска следующее:

That's just a source thing. Some props don't cast shadows, because of certain parameters within the model itself.

yeah my memory is a little fuzzy but, for whatever reason, props don't cast shadows from the sun, but they do get darkened under shadows

One quick question — what exactly does -force_vendor_id 0x10DE -force_device_id 0x1180 do? Does it spoof an NVIDIA GPU (specifically a old GTX) to trick the engine into applying higher settings, similar to how Bethesda games adjust presets (Ultra/High/etc.) based on detected hardware? Or does it override and enforce a fixed settings regardless of actual specs? I'm looking into ways to force max out graphics quality in GMod.

idk why but this week or last, A random map called d1_trainstation_02_csm added itself to my maps without my permission or notification( its not serious but i'm curios as to why.), ik its this mod that just adds it out of nowhere because i already turned the rest off and pick and chose till i found the culprit, For those who don't know its the very first opening of half life 2, But i have no idea why it keeps adding itself whenever i activate this mod, This has never happened and i cant seem to get rid of it unless i turn off the mod. Is this new? Or does it come with it like a map starter, It doesn't come with its own photo for the map just grayed out.

So that is what -bouncefromnamed does? I have read the info from the VRAD via Hammer, but thought it was only for some lights or props; but it's also for all named, including from sun to lights? Thanks so much, thought that'd be worthless to add, but I'll add it alongside the other parameters.

Its a good mod, but it does not work well with the source engine. its not my computer i have one of the best gaming laptops (I literally looked it up)

the old custom vrad is no longer needed as the change it had made was merged into the latest version of gmod, you can use vanilla gmod's vrad and use the compile option "-bouncefromnamed" instead now

SnabbSpelare, both of Xenthio's executables vrad.exe and vrad_dll.dll are 32-bit as the executable format is PE32 (32-bit) instead of PE32+ (64-bit).

Xenthio, since I'm using Hammer++ 64-bit and the 64-bit Garry's Mod Chrome Beta branch, the custom vrad you provided seems to be 32-bit (speculation). Could you consider providing a 64-bit version of the vrad to ensure compatibility with 64-bit Garry's Mod Hammer++ version, or perhaps suggest a method for using the 32-bit vrad alongside the 64-bit config in 64-bit hammer++??

Really love this addon, but a few things could be tweaked:

There's a shadow issue—some brushes have a missing or bleeding shadow at the base. Hard to explain, only a video or screenshot would show it right. I've also noticed shadows under NPCs faces like their nose shadows look

Would be nice if it disabled itself when there's no env_sun.

Quick question—any chance of something similar for indoor lighting? Like an equivalent to light entities?
